Is This The Top Gear Test Track?

How are they going to work out the cross-over point on the track if it's to be used for racing? Or are we only going to get this as a TT circuit?

They use the figure of eight layout for timed runs only but they used a shorter version without the figure of eight in a race that they did in super cars to see how far they could get on, if I remember correctly, one gallon of fuel. None of the cars made a whole lap.

TG does have lights, its a runway. They just aren't lit up when they film.

That's what I meant really - they don't have lights when they're using it as a race track...

Whereas GT5 appears to have turned them on for when they race.

Great find! 👍 Im not a fan of TG but i like this famous course. Hope will be the same positions of cameras

Looks like the Top Grear track to me! Especially from looking at the first two pictures! The three buildings on the right side, look the same to me.

Well it looks like Top Gear have confirmed it, just found this on the site.

It was actually confirmed a while back now. This thread is debating whether this segment of the trailer features the Top Gear Test Track or something completely different. ;)

It certainly looks like the test track to me, I can't wait to do my very own reasonably priced car hot lap! 👍

Yeah its a functioning airstrip so it has lights, its just that Top Gear never film at dusk or nighttime. I think there was only once they did a piece on it at night which was with the M3 and AMG estate cars.

Robin.

They did a couple of night shots for the Tesla Roadster review, and as you can see here:

No landing lights. Maybe it's just on the straight leading upto the Hammerhead.

Also, Top Gear Test Track!

We need the Suzuki as well so we can show them F1 drivers a thing or two about driving fast.

They should make the exact car an unlockable. With the racing seat, roll cage, etc.

Good idea, maybe they could even let you unlock Stig, Clarkson, Hammond and May as playable characters. Imagine playing as captain slow

It looks like a drag race in the trailer so maybe you can only either use it for drags, speed tests or testing / time trials & maybe drifting? - Otherwise you can't really have races with cars criss-crossing, thats maybe too arcade like for GT, but it would be cool!

Either way it looks fully sick in the trailer, 100 times better than on top gear where it looks like the most boring place on earth.

That would be cool. My dad owns a Chevrolet Lacetti in real life.. driving it in gran turismo would be like.. "OMG it handles just like the real one" :dopey:

Suggestion for GT5:

Make the driver in the game choosable by the player. Then make the Stig and James May (yes, captain slow!) be unlockable driver after completing certain events.

I think this should be pretty easy to program into the game. Unless they want to model damage on the drivers...

I can see the flood of Top Gear videos now...though that it will be great that the track will be in the game.

I just think it should always be kept for private online rooms and never allowed for use of public. Thus removing threat of crossover by replacing it with the brains of your fellow GTPer to leave whoevers in front to go across first. However we all know we won't be using the TGTT for hardcore races, they'll be used for battles (like top gear), for driving around the airfield (like top gear), for hot laps (like top gear) and for generally cocking about (like top gear). I hope they give us free reign over the entire area as an option as well as having the track usable for hotlapping and such.

C'mon you all know you want to do the whole 'the top speed of this car is... you know what, let's find out' like Clarkson does in the LP640 :).

If that is the Top Gear test track, they're going the wrong way round.

On second thoughts I may be wrong.

I hope it is the BBC's TOP GEAR TEST TRACK so I can compare my lap times to the STIG to see how close to reality GT5 would be.

If I am not mistaken the angle in the trailer depicts the barns near the Chicago corner. Pics for reference

I think the car is on the landing strip. A drag strip option!

It's not the same when you don't see the road running out ahead of you and you realise you can't stop in time.
