Is Your Car in Gran Turismo, and Does Your Car Deserve to be in GT5?

My '93 Ford Escort LX (wagon) doesn't deserve to be anywhere near a video game. It's a nice car in its own right, just not race track material.

I would, however, LOVE for CAMAROBOY's car to be in.

I also think my dad's 01 Bullitt Mustang deserves a place because it is a rare model compared to the new 08/09 Bullitt Mustang, the 01 Bullitt production finished at 5582 whereas there are over 7000..... 08 Bullitts and the production is continuing into 2009. IMO the 01 Bullitt looks better than the 08 Bullitt.

True the '01 version is "rarer", but the bodystyle of the time didn't look anything like the original '68 whereas the '08 version does...not to mention the '08 version has about 35 more hp than the '01 version.

I totally agree his Camaro looks sweet.

I agree with you about the 08 being more truthful to the 68, but it would be good to have a wide range of SN95 Mustangs in GT5's used car lots. It won't matter that the 01 has 35hp less when most people (including me) will be tuning it, and the 01 is lighter than the 08 so that kind of makes up for having less power.

I don't think a car "deserves" to be in any game really. My parents have a mid-1990s GMC Safari, my brother had a Mazda B2100 from 1990, who's to say that any car DESERVES to be in any game? Also glad you've stereotyped wanting to see someone's tricked out Honda Civic. Real classy...

The people who dream of seeing their cars being raced by other people would be those who created some hot cars. For example, I'd be more than interested in seeing certain Japanese and North American cars used in Time Attack (the term I'll use for this kind of event). I read the latest "Sport Compact Car" magazine back on Saturday, and a car that won the Time Attack at Long Beach. Funny enough, it's in Unlimited FR when the car is clearly mid-engined. A front-engined NSX is absolutely rare. Last time I seen a front-engined NSX was when one drag racer converted a mid-engined NSX to a front-engined NSX to perform better. This was back in the late 1990s or early 2000.

Anyhow, most of the dedicated performance tuners would love to see their cars represented. As for those of us who are just trying to go about life and drive around town, there aren't very many of us that want to see our cars represented and that any will really be introduced. I just don't know about deserved. Oh, I almost forgot... some of the ones who have the sports cars and high-end sports cars would love seeing those cars featured. That's for those who have Ferraris, Maseratis, Nobles (just to add diversity), Ascari, and stuff like that. But again, I don't really think a car DESERVES to be in any game. That's unless you specifically focus on a certain nationality or brand of car.

Why would any one make an nsx ( that is perfectly balanced in it's mid engine form ) and waste money, time, effort, and most of all an NSX? And sir you are very wrong if you negatively put down people for wanting their cars in the game. Remember gt2 that game had a ton af cars even a crx which my friend has and loves. My car should be in there too but for some reason porsches don't exist in the gran turismo world.

I've got a 2008 Mitsu Lancer GTS manual transmission and it's a very pleasant car to drive everyday ( my new girlfriend wishes she had it instead of her poor 4 Door Yaris hatch:yuck:), but I would clearly prefer to have the 2009 Ralliart version in GT5, much faster and AWD, wich I'm planning to get this fall or next spring.

I think top performance versions of each car should be priorized and if there's time left, well go for the rest. Just my two cents....

See ya

Well, I really want the origional Mini to be in the game, PAL version, because PAL and elsewhere were screwed out of it in GT4...

As for my car, it dosn't deserve to be in the game, but it is a FWD 110bhp 1.8l Audi A4 from 1998. Pretty much a low range car, but it's just about affordable on my road car budget.

I have a track car in the works, a Ford Escort Cosworth, I have had a bit of a power increase, and a re-spray in Ford ST Orange... I have had to stop work on it for now, because my daily driver is costing too much lately... I might get a Toyota Celica or a Corolla by the end of the year, something a little cheaper to run and maintain, so I can have some cash to spend on my Cossie.

But generally, I would love some older Fords, various Escorts, Sierras and such...

My old car that I sold some time ago ( good riddance).. no, it doesn't deserve to be in the game, thanks for being a curse of blue oval with OEM rust bomb in the trunk.

I remember someone mentioning on the first page about a 1981 Monte Carlo. I'd like to see a slightly beefed-up version of that. How about a 1983 Hurst/Olds Cutlass? They're about 3600 lbs, but are stiffened up compared to a stock one, and make a solid 180 HP from the 307 V8. Google it if you don't know what one looks like. Talk about a historic piece of machinery. It's one of 3001 made that year.

I also own two Fords I'd think would be nice additions to the game.

First off, a 1994-2004 V6 Mustang. While the pre-99s were underpowered (150hp), the 99-04s had good power (193hp). The point is, you don't see many Mustangs in games at all, let alone a V6 Mustang. Mine in particular is a 2004 5-speed coupe, bright orange, and weighs 3100 lbs. It's a fun track car, albeit a bit slow. Handles great even stock, and runs a solid 8.0 second 0-60. Do some Gran Turismo tuning, and BAM! :P Plus, all Mustangs of this era look pretty good, and are drool-worthy when lowered with 17" or 18" rims.

Secondly, I have a 2006 Ford Escape that is a fun little SUV. It handles well, has moderate performance, and is a fun little offroader that is plenty capable and would be fun as a rally car in GT. Any era Escape would make me happy from 2001 to now. Psh, then you could lower it or raise it to your liking.

.

Not to mention it's got that wicked Lighning Rod triple stick shifter!

Heck yeah man! I'd love to see the interior created in there as well. Man, what a car packed full of history in my family. And full of automotive history as well!

As I've been saying for 2 GT's and a Prologue edition now, I really would like to see the Suzuki Forenza/Chevrolet Lacetti represented. (Could even call it a Daewoo Nubira if you must) It's a car built from every corner of the world, and it's a Daewoo that as far to my knowledge, was never branded as such because they went out of business. Then GM slapped Chevy/Buick/Suzuki on it just for another model in the lineup. Suzuki however, was the only one to keep the 3 part grille for a model year later than 2004. And on top of it, I now own a 2005 Suzuki Forenza Wagon and for what it is, has quite a bit of pep. (Although, lots of weight and body roll, oversteering etc..) I thought it was just going to be a stupid little (overly glitzy) small car. And, over the past 3 years, I've come to love it like none other. I rarely see a 4dr Forenza, let alone a base model Wagon like mine. Again, the '05s had different design elements than the '06-'08 (2008 was the last year), such as slimmer spoked hubcaps and the Daewoo-era 3 part grille. Moving past the base model, going for the top of the line EX had sunroof, 12 spoke alloys, fog lights, chrome door handles, all-in-one keyfob, leather seats....I could go on forever.

I tend to play the GT series to see how everyday cars such as the Forenza, Civic, and Accord stack up against each other. Not so much for the race cars (tho, i put over 9,000 in game miles on my trusty Toyota GTone ;)
I don't care how boaty they are, or how much power they have. It's all in the fun of the game! Driving the slower car presents you with challenges only a slow car could give you. :P

So, to say, I have 3 cars I would love to see represented:
1995 Toyota Camry LE
2004 Acura TSX (Yes, the TSX not the Accord Euro-R)
2005 Suzuki Forenza Wagon S

Those would have to be my 3 absolute contenders to be in the game. And I've been waiting for them since GT1 (the Camry anyway).

Thanks for reading through my longwinded attempt at an explanation! haha

Edit:
Had to throw in, the Forenza is awesome offroad (One point where the super plushy suspension comes in handy: Slides pretty well too!)

Since the Top Gear Test Track will be in the final edition, the Lacetti would be freakin awesome to have as well. This "Star" in a Reasonablly Priced Car would be gunnin' for Simon Cowell's time!! I know Jay Kay is leading now, but gotta beat Simon.

Also, my Mini Cooper S is already in the game.

one of mine is, MK1 VW GTI. it should be in there because it help start the "hot hatch" craze. mine is modified with a 20 valve 1.8L turbo motor (heince my name) and loads of other performance goodies so my exact car won't be but GT4 had a MK1 so i am happy with that. my other car is a 89 Volvo 740 wagon that is in the process of getting a Ford 5.0l V8 swapped into it. GT4 had the 240 wagon so that was cool and close enough for me.

1 of 2 of my cars are in GT.

1991 Mazda MX-5
1984 Porsche Carrera Cab (RoW)

And yes, the 911 deserves to be included...It's an iconic car that's pretty much been the benchmark that all other sports cars have been compared to ever since its inception in '64.

I think my Ex Military Land Rover should be included along with a new circuit of a ploughed field. Then I might stand a chance of winning a race!!!

I'm really surprised that they haven't included a 5.0 foxbody Mustang in a GT game yet. Extremely popular car here in the states, and it would make for a great cheap platform in the game. My car isn't common enough for me to think it'd be in GT (although I'd prefer it over a Mustang) but even if they just added an 87-93 Mustang, that'd be really awesome.
