Israel - Palestine discussion thread

Israel, the state created after WW II, is a tremendous historic mistake by the powers at the time. Because it can't be undone, and because it can't be safe. Taking someone's land and giving it to someone else was an "imperial" attitude. And please don't tell me there is such thing as an historic right to that land. Ownership of land is a question of power, and Israel is the greatest example available.

Anyway, and since you can't erase palestinians from the face of the Earth, and since palestinians won't forget their land for the next 2000 years (if the long memory of jews is anything to go by and considering how close both peoples are) Israel has only one way forward: The war of a thousand years. Sad that this may well be Hitler's real legacy to the jewish people.
If I want to take a basic approach, then Israeli religious government today is pretty much the same with Hamas. The only major difference is the fact that they are on white suits and supported by US and europe, therefore their decisions are "approved" by "international".

Sad truth really. Most international groups are biased at best. Most of these are ignored, while minor "anti-semitism" offense like name calling are heavily pressured and make its government reacts like madness. Seriously?

(Though I still dont like Hitler and Nazis. They're just fight for their race and killing millions of race is unforgivable. But whats Israel basically do is like a rape victim can be free to rape another because they are the victim)

Just seen on CNN, IDF bombed another ambulance with wounded people in it. I'm really starting too hate these guys..

That's not the way to have a discussion.

Yes, besides mr_geez is one cool dude :D

But anyway ... what's the problem with the dates mr_geez? What dates do you think would give us a clearer idea about what happened there?

I feel for the soldiers just as much as I feel for the Palestinian civilians. These guys were kids when the Second Intifada was going on, many losing family members and friends. They've grown up wanting to fight for their country, because all they see is Hamas wanting death to anything that has to do with Israel. Grumpy old men using the youth to do their dirty work as always.

My cousin is in Tel Aviv now. She got back less than a month ago (she'll be coming to the USA in a month or so). She says that she wished the fighting did stop at this point.

Germany was just protecting itself at Warsaw from Jewish projectiles. That's how crazy these zionist maniacs sound.

Wonder if these morons clap when they hear the Palestinian death toll is now 570, a third of them being women and children and 100.000 people are already on the run for the Israeli attacks.

Go to #FreePalestine on FB and you'll see a lot of things that western media doesn't cover.

Videos of israeli soldiers arresting and beating palestinian kids; isreali snipers shooting down innocent civilians that are trying to find their family among the wreckage; Reports of ambulances and journalists being shot; etc

Israel really need to start acting like they are civilised. Hand back the land that has been occupied illegally and start working towards real peace. Stop the Zionism which has caused hundreds of thousands of people to be displaced. Take down the walls that have been erected illegally. That would be a start.

Yes, Hamas doesn't want the state of Israel to exist at all and they will continue to launch rockets, but by taking the first step at least the world will recognise that Israel is starting to move towards peace. The UN also needs to come down hard on Hamas and Israel as they are both in breach of international law.

The death toll from this round of strikes has been over 500, look at the graph below which shows out of the 10,000 launched rockets from Gaza by Hamas there has been 28 killed and over 1900 injured. This shows just how much more destructive the weaponry is that Israel is deploying. The arms being purchased from the US are extremely high tech and need to be used with with some degree of caution.

It's impossible to side with either Israel or Palestine. I think we're all on the side of the ordinary people who just want to get on with their lives.

Wow, none of those are showed on western media at all? God I thought the bias is only cultural.

Some of them may misatributed to other causes (like Syria). But it pretty much the case of misinformation and the crimes are all real.

Not blaming both sides, though. Although I more support Palestine, Im sure there are some good Israeli peoples who oppose this kind of thing.

"Atrocious" = atrocity = war crime

Yeah that still doesn't explain a ton to me other than you saying that perhaps a War Crimes hearing should be set up against a Nation that was ironically allowed to a certain group of people due to war crimes against them. I'm simply trying to learn more here, and you seem to not be interested in divulging. I just wanted to get more insight from you like I do others so I can learn what's going on.

Say what now?

Yeah that was a bad choice of rhetoric there...
