Wooo I found a livestream :) I'm a Dario fan, but whoever comes out on top it should be great to watch!

I saw the crash on a fresh new youtube video. That was a very bad crash. I hope there is no fatalities.

Is there anyone out there with a link where I can watch it live?

Feel free to delete if you believe it is inappropriate, but I think Round 2 should be the Dan Wheldon Indy 150 in memory. RIP Dan.

Right now I'm considering whether we should even run the series, but will discuss tomorrow with the other organisers.

I just too shocked right now, beat I go to bed.

RIP Dan. Shed a tear for you Son.

You can flame me ban me or what you have it.... These cars DO NOT belong on these types of tracks...

This is another black eye on Indy car, One of many that will likely never heal for this sport... I don't see how you can make a car like this safer, Every Auto Sport has lost drivers. But they have all taken measure's to make things safer.. Yes this was a freak accident but more needs to be done, the drivers in this sport are what is selling it.

Today we have added yet another Driver taken from this world way to soon, Hopefully Dan is still doing what he loved with the others only in a safer place.

I've only just got the news, I had to double take when I saw it. A Truly sad day for racing. RIP Dan Wheldon, my thoughts are with his family also.

I do think we should go ahead with the series, simply so we can complete it in his memory. And if we do run, round 2 will be the 'Dan Wheldon Indy 150'.

EDIT: and Stealth, are you referring to Las Vegas Speedway or this series?

the new car for next year that Dan personally helped test is supposed to be much safer and prevent accidents like this one.

Tom, I am referring to To Izop going to places like Las Vegas. Yes I understand they have to compete with NASCAR for fans and exciting races sell tickets. But I still don't see the need to be running a car like this (In real Life) on tracks like this, If its not Fans, Its drivers.

I am inclined to agree, I don't think they should entirely eliminate the ovals but they should either make them safer or cut down the number of races. After Ayrton Senna's death, the FIA clamped down on safety in F1, the same for NASCAR after Dale Earnhardt's death. Let's hope this is the wake up call that the IRL needed. Once again, RIP Dan.

Seriously I haven't followed Indy car since the loss of Greg Moore. And I haven't really seen much change since then

If Knelly, LV, Joe and everybody else, do still want to run the series I also propose something similar to the '5 lap salute' that the drivers did today in memory of Dan.

Night all, I couldn't think of more awful news to end the day.

I'm speechless today. But I will recover. And I still want to race.

A sentiment,I think, that is shared by most racers.

That would be special

Yes, I think that most of us will still want to race.

I missed the race, but checked out replays after reading about it in this thread. What was the 5 lap salute (I haven't seen any footage other than the replays of the accident, as I don't want to spoil the rest of the race for myself)? 5 silent laps at low speed? We could add some extra pace laps to our Dan Wheldon Indy 150 if that's what they were.

Yes Joe that's pretty much what they were. A couple of extra pace laps with mics turned off, just in his memory 👍

The race never finished... Well it did on Lap 12. The drivers and Teams all agreed to End the race with a 3 wide 5 Lap salute to Dan !
