So that's....

-WSM season opener enduro last week
-Nationwide Pre-Season last week
-IndyCar World Championship tomorrow
-Nationwide DRIVE4COPD 300 this Saturday
-Sprint Cup Budweiser Shootout this Saturday
-NASCAR Trucks next Friday
-Daytona 500 next Saturday
-IROC season opener next Sunday

Almost as many as the Speedweeks IRL...

We should totally do this before the shootout on Saturday. We can be the opening act :dopey: And LOL I have done these demo derbies at Daytona before but not in a NASCAR.

Surely afterwards? You don't wanna wreck them before ;)

I'm sure I heard that hard impacts affect the chassis rigidity....

Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing don't come to the track with just one car. Roll out the backups. :sly:

Well, it's either get the aggression out before the shootout or take it out on each other after. So, I guess really eitherway can work. But I think it will be all-in-fun if we do it before the race and if we did it after it may lead to more hostility/animosity. Maybe we need to put a pole up for this?

Anyway, stop hijacking the thread and take this to the Cup one

Maybe have your demolition derby with ACDC before the shootout, and then have the whole room/lounge do some dirty NASCAR after the shootout (recommended list cars, 10 laps, boost on high, no tyre wear, grip reduction on low etc)

Hmmmm, track the winners to see who wins the most and have a prize car for them?

So far I'm tied for the lead with Carbon, oh, and it's lucking likely that I'll show up tomorrow.

Guess I still have 6 chances to get my first Daytona win in a while. I'm not in WSM so I didn't compete in that race, and the crash at the start of the Nationwide winter testing ruined my chances of a win there.

Maybe Ak, we'll see. Hope to see you tomorrow night man 👍

Seems like I've got 4 chances, 2 of those are realistic.

I dunno how many I have and if any are realistic..

Well the Sprint Cup competition is going to be heavy, some of the guys are hella quick. But I'm confident I can finish well tomorrow and also at the 300 on Saturday judging by the competition at testing last weekend.

The guys that have not raced in here before could use some reminders I think (I now I could). For instance, I'm unclear on the tire rule for 'Tona, do we have to use different compounds through the race or can we stick with one? Also, there is no intentional bump-drafting, correct?

I don't think I've ever ran these things around Tona before tonight. My first laps felt pretty comfy, I really didn't change much from my regular circuit set-up, I hope there's no drastic changes that I should be doing as far as suspension. I did review the regs and made those adjustments, then some minor downforce and camber tweaks and it felt good.

Nope, only hard compound is used on Ovals.

And I would refrain from ANY contact, as nearly ANY rear contact can give the person engine damage, as it's rear-engined. And wheels are sensitive too.

If you have trouble with the car getting loose/spinning on some small bumps in the low line of the turns, put your ride height all the way up (10 10). It'll also help you turn easier.

As Cowboys said, comfort hard is the only compound at ovals and contact can easily give damage, so be careful when you're following someone (they might have to check up).

You should be running out of fuel before you run out of tyres in a stint, meaning everyone will be on very similar strategies.

You will be required to stay below the apron until you reach the backstretch after you have pitted. Be aware of a bump inbetween turns 1 and 2 on the apron, and that the car will want to start pushing up onto the banking as you near the exit of turn 2.

Reminder about the transmission requirements which are in the OP.

Pace lap and caution speed is 100mph, and I'd advise our pace car driver to have CAUTION typed out ready to send for if there is a caution, as well as saying it. Caution procedure for ovals is also listed in the OP. Care should be taken to not make contact under caution and a sensible space should be kept between you and the car in front.

Good, I should be set. Just wanted to verify the regs, kind of a lot to take in all at once, but I think I'm ready. I've got quite a bit of time in an FGT, and quite a bit of time at Daytona, just never the same time. I'll get some more practice in before the race, but I think I'll be alright. Should be a great race.

Room Open & Free Practice: 22:30GMT - 23:00GMT
Qualifying: 23:00GMT - 23:30GMT
Race: 23:30GMT - 00:30GMT Approx.

Power - 650bhp
Weight - 690kg
Tires Allowed - Comfort Hard
Transmission - Reset to default. Set max speed at the bottom right to 217mph, leave final gear at 4.212 and 7th gear at 1.465

Pace Lap - When the race begins, nobody moves from the grid. The safety car will pull up through the field and take the lead, then the IndyCar grid will start rolling behind it. Form up in double file behind the safety car and follow it round the track in qualifying order. At the end of the lap the safety car will pull into the pits, you should still drive at the speed limit until the first car passes the start line.
Daytona 2 wide start @ 100mph

Pit Lane Rules - On all tracks you have to slow down to 60mph before you enter the pit lane and the computer takes control of your car. At Daytona on exiting the pit lane, stay on the inside of the track (to the left of the yellow line) until you are clear out of turn 2. This is to avoid accidents on the high banking. Speed on this pit exit is unrestricted. Check there are no faster cars approaching from behind when you rejoin on the back straight. You must have at least 2 wheels in the pit entry/exit lanes at all times.

Cautions - 4 caution laps in total. On the first lap everyone gathers behind the safety car. At the start of the second caution lap, the wavearound is given to any cars between the safety car and the race leader. At the end of the second caution lap the pits are open. Cars catch back up to the safety car near/at the end of the third caution lap. Cars go double file on the back straight on the 4th caution lap, ready to restart. Leader takes the inside line as it is an oval. Race restarts at the start/finish line. Restart speed is 100mph. NO CAUTIONS IN THE LAST 3 LAPS.

Just for all the guys who don't normally run with us 👍

I might check this out tonight.

Feel free man, more than welcome. You'll need to add me on PSN first (don't think you've got me already), it's Tom_97_COD 👍

Added. Quick question:

What's the exact power limiter number I need to put on the car? I'm not sure if bhp and hp are the same or not in the game.

Can't remember off the top of my head, 650 is the in game horsepower number you want to be getting. I'm pretty sure they're both the same in GT5 👍
