well seeing as i did a 6:51 on my 5th lap with tire wear, i can tell you from experience a 6:47 is easily possible :)

i don't want people working to hard though so i'm waiting till my qualifying lap gets posted, at the last possible second before the race.

BTW i would have voted for the "even more laps" option if there was one

Oh God, 6:47... I have to put down some laps then...

lol. once you get the car dialed in you will be much faster.

i would be worried about panoz. a previous GT300 champion. he probably knows the ins and outs of these cars far better then the majority of us. i only drove a GT300 car for the first time a few days ago so i'm sure he's got me beat.

The tyres are just racing medium right? We're not having a multi compound race are we?

Yea just mediums Zack.

Hey roscko, what chassis are you using I'm wondering if its old school like Seths?

I'm interested, but have to check on soccer schedules that day for both my sons. If there is no conflict I'm in. [EDIT: Conflict, I'm out :(]

GTP: WRP001
PSN: GTP_WRP001

KK can vouch for me. :sly:

I won't get much seat time until I get back from vacation on the 22nd so would like to hold off on car choice until the middle of that week.

Question: If more than 16 sign up will the pre-quali determine who is going to race or is it first 16 to show interest? I guess if it's the latter then don't hold my spot until I can confirm the time will work.

i haven't decided what i am going to use yet, i am getting very very similar results with the cars i have tested (all the premiums and the standard Subaru) so far the fastest lapper has been the premium RX-7, probably only because its the one i have done the most laps in due to its awesome exhaust note. i'm probably not going to use it though because its less stable, higher chance of spinning out, burns up tires, and is a nightmare at speed on the carousel.

so to answer your question, i am using a few of them, the RX-7 so far has been my fastest, but i'm probably not going to use it in favor for better average lap time after tire wear becomes an issue..

edit- can someone dupe the standard cars for me so i can try them? the gt300 champ chose the MR-S, and i want to see why.

Good to see you here WRP

The mrs is pretty down on straight line acceleration compared to others. But at these specs im not so sure. Someone on the gtrrl thread mentioned it has great handling. For nurb i think that straight line speed is more advantagious than handling.

Unfortunately, just found out my son's game is at 2:45 PM Pacific and there's no way I'll be home by 4:00 PM. Oh well, have a good race guys.

WRP to answer your question the fastest 16 drivers will fill up Room A while the slower 16 would fill up Room B. If we don't have a big turn out for Room B then we can shorten the race to match the amount of drivers that show up in Room B, but only if the drivers of Room B want a shorten race distance.

Roscko you're seeing what I was seeing, that RX-7 is beast, but now that I lapped I noticed the samething your going to have to really hold on to thact car after the 2nd lap and I also noticed the tire wear. I'm glad the cars are coming out balanced so far so I can keep using the same method of testing them.

I'm going to run a test race event the last week of Oct if anyone cares to join to get more specific numbers and test out driver etiquette round this place?

i might be able to make it. i am constantly back and forth between 2 locations and the PS3 stays at one of them so. we'll see.

This is just a spot race, we going to have a season after this race so you might be able join later.👍

i have searched long and hard for this gtrrl thread and i can't find it anywhere, can someone direct me via link or something? maybe my search skills are diminishing.

just ran a 6:40.038 timed lap after a hard first lap.. i won't be able to play for a few days but when i get back i am shooting for a 6:39.

I wish to keep the car i am using a secret until qualifying. (its has fantastic tire wear up to 5 laps)

am i allowed to really baby the car for the warm up lap as to not burn up the tires for the qualifying lap. i have just kind of been going all out. could be a 1-2 second difference

edit-

also is it safe to assume this will be a 12 lap race?

Theres huge differences between cars. I think certain ones need to be cut back. The RX7's are too fast, so is the MRS and Garaiya. Theres no reason to race when one car runs 20 seconds faster than other cars.

would it be possible to add some power to the slower cars? seeing as we are pretty much full throttle most of the time anyway making them slower would just make passing much harder.

I think ballast is needed more to the RX7s, the Garaiyas (premium especially), the MRS, Subarus and Celica. I suggest 25-35kg to each car.

it sounds like every car almost is running equal but faster then the silvia and the lexus?

maybe add power to them, or subtract wieght? PD does have a horrible way of unbalanced classes and pp's

i just don't want to slow these guys down anymore lol, fast racing makes for good racing.

You can't take weight from the Lexus or Silvia, they're minimum 1150kg. They have a bad weight balance as well. I suggest trying these cars around 1200kg, that way all the cars are from a clean slate, then run each at 380hp and work from there. So use 400hp/1200kg as a base of the slowest cars- the Lexus IS and Silvia, then make the others equal around those. So maybe 1180kg 370hp for the others. But there's still BIG discrepancies between the others.

i'm not at home for a while so let me know when you get it all figured out..

Hey guys I can't thank you enough for all the work you guys have put in on this. We'll make adjustments to balance these cars out here around the ring, but we should all meet up in a room and compare them around a regualar circuit because the cars regs are some what based of the same regs from GTRRL & GATE and the cars we're pretty well balanced in those series. I want to make sure that its the cars and not the track for the time differences. When are you guys free to do some serious test sessions? I'm free starting after Saturday night and onwards!

i'll try and make it. not sure. the lap times are kind of hard to judge car ability though because some people really know the ring, and some just don't. and some cars might suite someones driving style better.. i thought the lexus was fast ,so i'll be happy even more if you boost the power ;) that girl corners like someone stole the 2j fan and hid it in there.

i think balancing the cars would be better done on another track, where humon error is less off a factor.

it takes a long time to get comfortable/tune a car and bring it to its max potential at the ring.
not so much at De La Sarthe or something to that effect. i dunno, you guys are hosting it i'll keep out of it.

Naw your right on it I'm worried about the exact samething. The driver here is a super important factor now that I think about I ran with in 1 second of my Cusco Subaru's pace when I was driving the RX-7 eventho I turned 4 more mph down the quirked up back straight away part. Fuji would be a good top speed track, while lapping around monaco would show the cars natural low speed abilities plus lap times come once a min. Also Mazda believe it or not is a good test place too. My next car to balance check around the ring is the IS350 chassis since is one of the premiem models and we have a couple of registered drivers for that chassis. My next major test night in Monday, but ill be on late due to the fact I have class during the afternoon so my usual hours of operation are 10pm Pst till 2am Pst'

I know that Shagg and Dragon done testing of the GTRRRL series at Fuji, Laguna Seca, and Indy. Tracks that you can make lap after lap with little mistake should help in even the cars as close as possible.

I go by the split times for the tracks. Through the first couple of minutes the cars are all pretty close, within a half a second. But once you start getting towards the 2-4 minute mark and the tracks gets more twisty, the Lexus and especially the Silvia start to fade. They come back when the straights and high speed turns are around. The Lexus is strong in that respect, but the back end of the track before the final straight gets tricky and the turn in of those cars hinder them.

YES haha make the lexus faster!!! lol nah just add some positive toe and like 1.8 front camber 1.7 rear camber and that car turned awsome. it just doesn't like the curbs
