Actually in my lounge. Add me if you want in.

Added you though I think a little late (hour after your post).

Worked out another setup for my RX-7 with less downforce - It seems easier to do faster lap times but I'm still unsure if it's better overall. Also unsure about front dampers yet.

Suspension
10/6
12.6/11.0
8/4
9/2
6/5

1.8/0.8
-0.06/-0.02

Aero
35/42

LSD: 12/32/20

Brakes: 5/3

Ballast: All the way to the back

I was running consistent 1:43.5 to 1:42.8

Fast time of 1:41.3

Still working on setup. Also, I am confused about how qualifying works. Can someone explain that to me?

You'll need to contact one of the stewards, through here or on PSN (me, joetruckv8, freshseth83, gtpanoz, or ZachAK47)

They'll check to make sure your car is up to spec as well as the room, if it's not their own.

Then they'll make you run a 4 lap race, where the fastest lap time of the first 3 laps is going to be your qualifying time.

That's it.

Gettin sweeter. Consistent 1.41.3. By lap 8 my car handles completely different though. Are y'all setting up for quali or do you have a race pace as well?

I'm in a room called JSTC400 Practice. I need to learn how to pace with other cars... Anyone online?

I ran the RX7 online today, did some high 1:41's without it broken in. That's full tanks, so I know it'll be good because I can keep that pace up for a good while. I run 1.0 camber front and rear. Toe angle -.10/.05 and springs 17.0/16.5 I think that's a good start.

Try my AsparaDrink RX-7 setup if you like, It's a couple of posts above this one. If you try it and it feels too slippery, simply increases rear down force :). Interesting choice of Toe and Camber.

@Tyler

I run up to 4 laps and then reset. Tire grip just isn't the same - sweet spot is usually lap 2-3. I'm probably gonna use the same setup I use for qualifying for the race. Tire wear seems fine on front and back.

I will be coming on to practice in a few hours, hope you guys can show me some pointers on this track because I only ever did 1 lap!

Yeah, the new update (2.09 I think) added some extra settings for fuel and tire wear.

I don't think we're going to use any of that for the series. I think our races are already long enough to force pit stops.

Actually Afelin were only going to be doing 1 pit stop with these tires @ this hp range. If we want to induce at least a 2 stop stradegy we will have to run 200km races, or switch to softs, or run med tires @ the fast setting.

Normal = Michelin
Fast = Bridgestone
Very Fast = Pirelli

It would of been cool if PD would of listed them like this in my opinion'

I never set my cars up to go fast over one lap. I run camber at 0.8 or 1.0 at most. They let the tires last for a while. My downforce is 32/50. But like I said, I'm only at 200km on the car, so there's more to come from it. I think with the rear toe at a positive (.08-.15) it lessens the oversteer. Then I run the negative toe (-.10) to give better front end response. I could go more extreme on the front, but that's just my starting setup. My ride height is 5/5 as well.

I'll go for a quick one, car is still completely un-touched except for a turbo just want to get used to it.
Got disconnected. Lexus quite alot of understeer especially at high speed, but still there at low speed. Sure some setup work could cure that.

I'm feeling that way about the Lexus. Lots of understeer. I could be diving in to my apex a little too fast though due to my lack of experience.

Ive been getting understeer in a lot of the cars I've been driving since the update. Whatever they changed, it did not like my setups as now my front ends like to skate across the asphalt. I been trying everything to get the front end to bite without losing any of my rearend grip. Nothing has worked. It's frustrating DX

I set my cars up for understeer because I tend to turn in early, but now its galactic!

A good place to look for a starting point for retuning might actually be the old tunes that were designed for or in offline use. Maybe going for that approach might gain us some better insight into how to forward with tuning post-2.09.
A gold mine for thatt may be the WRS threads since members post lots of tunes to help eachother out. Vagabond and CSLACR I can recall made really great ones consistently. And WRS has run through most of the GT300 cars by now as well I think.

My setup works good for me. Increasing the front 'wing' gives better turn in, it may slow you on straights though. But it may be worth it.

For turn in my all time favorite setting is 5 to 10 clicks toe in on the front!
I use this setting on pretty much all tracks except for Monaco for some reason it needs toe out on the front'

Watching you turn laps last night... I'm worried to see what happens when you get it right!

I am, you can come back to my lounge

I was just about to say howdy and you left

If you're using ride height to balance the car, it might be why you're understeering - they've fixed it so you can't anymore. If you want more front rotation try using an inverse damper in the front, something like (X/X+1) - I currently use 8/9 in the front. Also perhaps try a bit of negative front toe.

I started using similar concepts on your RX7 set up.... jeez that makes the car twitchy. Is that what it takes to make it in these races?!?!?!

What do you mean by "similar concepts"? Keep in mind with everything I say, I prefer my cars a bit..unstable. Did you try the exact tune I posted or..?

Well every one has driver preferences I'm sure. I'm also using a different car. I used the "concepts" as in spring stiffness and inverse damper. I basically took your set up and made it a bit more mild. I'm reverse engineering it so I can see how the car reacts to different settings and how I like to drive, I felt this may help my learning curve rather than starting from the cars default.

Though, I must say with default settings on the car. Some brake bias and aero adjustments I turn 10-12 laps within .400 of each other. I'm on the hunt for a little more bite when I turn in so that's why I started exploring your RX7 setup. And now, I know how to get less understeer.

With my set up I can't seem to break 1.41.2XX

I see. I would first go by reducing Aero as much as you dare on the back. Only then would I mess with the suspension. The less Aero you use, the faster you'll go on the straights. Always keep the front maxed out though. Also try an equal damper, like 9/9 (Also used 9/9 on my car, still deciding between 9/9 and 8/9). I dunno how your lap looks but if you want to break your current time, try and be more aggressive with how close you get to curbs.

Me and Cam did qualifying times within .5 of each other, his being faster.
Weirdly I tried his setup and was a second slower. He tried mine and was no faster. Weird. :dunce:
So many different ways to setup the car...

Unstable car for the unstable mind lol jk

Anyway, 2 people have qualified so far. Schedule it in advance and I can easily fit you in. Otherwise you'll have to message stewards on PSN or through here to get a session in. Don't put it off guys. I can't fit everyone into the 11th hour lol

I'm going to be sorting my set-up in adout 20 mins so if anyone wants to join just say.

Forgot about 2.09. I have new internet at 36mbps and it still says 66 minutes to download. Ridiculous.
