Alright man, well next weekend is Winter Race 3, so you can come on out and check out all the racing! Qualifying starts at 1pm and we'll probably finish up around 5:30- 6:00 pm.

What class are you running?

Nice. I just got out of Yamaha KT100 but I still have 2 Yamaha KT100 engines and a kart with them. Fun class, but the engines are annoying

Haha, I agree, they're very annoying, but it's a very fun class around here. We have the most competition and biggest classes. I'm racing in the Lone Star Grand Prix with the Yamaha, so we'll see how that goes!

Really? When is that race? The track looks cool! The Yamaha class is dead here

You should come check it out!

It'll be March 17, 18 and be my first non-club race... so we'll see what happens! haha :nervous:

I should be running Gatorz today. But I am running Gatorz in late February. Hopefully some SKUSA stuff later this year

EDIT: I just found out that SKUSA is having a Spring nat race at my track April 20-22! I hope I can run! will need money to buy or lease a Leopard engine.

Ok im going a little ahead of myself here but does anyone here know any karting leagues/teams in or around NC and have any tips on buying a kart???

Yeah :P but two out of the three rounds are in my state, and Kalspeed is only about 5 or 6 hour drive. Entry fee is a lot though! $990 for Jr and Sr Max! Over $1000 for DD2/DD2 Masters!atorz Live str

EDIT: Gatorz live streaming here!

What?! 990USD? Thats absurd, to enter nationals here I think its only $100NZD, for entry fee that is. There better be some prize money for that sort of cost. :nervous:

Sadly theres not. But you get two sets of tires, fuel, and parking for the weekend. It's actually a good deal becuase two sets of new tires cost about $500+ and their fuel can be $300 or so.

Ah, I see, its for homologation purposes.

Do you have Rotax Max Challenge over there?

Yes. The U.S. Rotax Max Grand Nats, and the Gatorz Challenge of the Americas. Like Gatrs said. You also get a "Golden Ticket" to the Rotax Max world finals if you win the Gatorz Challange of the Americas or the Rotax Max Grand Nats.

So its just one event? Here its contested over a five round series.

EDIT: NVM, I see that it is three rounds. Pays to read the thread aye

Practicing in my shifter yesterday (it was freezing cold!!) and going down the back straight, my rear rotor exploded! Haha, I didn't even realize it until 3 turns later when I had to be hard on the brakes again and I wasn't stopping correctly, off the track I went and into the tires!

Bah, and then I lost the starter nut off my Yamaha KT100... overall I guess it wasn't a very good practice day. :(

Oh well, karting's still fun!

If I ever buy a kart which highly depends if i can find places that have races, what would i buy? Im around 5'10" and 138lbs or so. Are there different classes? Does it matter the league?

Your age is a factor as well...

and depends on what's biggest locally. You want to have lots of competition, that's what's really important to me.

And, as with anything, start with the "slower" karts. They teach you how to drive properly so you can be fast.

Some people with Lewis Hamilton karts from Canada came down. One of the kids was fromQuebec or Montreal. He kicked our asses.

gogatrs
What was his name?

I can't remember Exaclty. But I talked to this kid from Calgary and his name was Austin King. He is pretty funny and isn't arrogant like a lot of those guys are.

That's just extra motivation for you to drive faster. ;)

Hi
I’m looking into starting karting in the UK.
I'm 13 and live in the south of England.
I took a 2 part course at Thruxton Kart Centre and was a couple of tenths slower than a guy that races TKM, and 8 tenths of the lap record. Is this good? I’ve been in a cart a couple of times and would really like to start.
If anyone knows where to start and what type of gear to get please respond.
