Can we all just have a Gran Turismo game that doesn’t require you to make the game your full time job to afford everything and isn’t required to be connected online in order to play it?
www.forzaplanet.net 😉

It felt like a very forced apology, he knew something had to be said but he doesn't feel like he's got anything to say, so hasn't. Disappointing really, and no sign of in game compensation or anything to say sorry for the downtime.
www.gridplanet.net ;)

And Kaz don't have to make the game like you want.
Then good luck trying to sell the games that he wants to make, especially considering that this is the culmination of three straight games of bad decisions, especially on the economy front, finally coming back to bite him in the ass. But it's never Kaz's fault, it's always the fans criticizing him, or Sony's. Or God's fault. It's never the man in charge's fault, it's never Polyphony's.

My 2 cents on this matter...
GT7's entire credit system has been built around pushing people to MTX.

-You can only win a prize car from championships once.
-Owned cars can no longer be sold, just discarded
-Low payouts for winning races
-Low credits earnt from online races
-Certain cars are available for limited times, thus creating the need to buy them before they disappear.
-Lowering the best payouts in the game in the recent patch

Personally I would be ok with this if the "micro" transactions were just that, micro. But the only things that are "micro" in these MTX is the amount of credits that you can purchase at a time. The 100,000 option is a complete waste of time, the 2mill option is WAY to overpriced. These need to changed to a factor of 10x to make it actually worth buying.

I personally despise Kaz's response to MTX and genuinely think he's lying.
If they are going to release updates in some unannounced time period, to which you can earn credits faster, why would you stop people from doing this now?

The only answer is a money grab from MTX.

This is not how you win over your fans, this is how you turn them away

Unfortunately, there is no way for players to earn enough credits to even buy a handful of the best cars WITHOUT replaying the same event(s) over and over and over again.

It's so deeply embedded into the core experience precisely because they want us to grow frustrated and spend money on credits from the playstation store.
To reduce the payouts, and to make some ridiculous comment about real world scarcity etc...is treating us all like idiots.

They have zero respect for us as consumers, as fans, as players.
There are only three things that will save this, in my personal opinion;

1) a massive increase in races that offer variety of location, vehicle, and reward, so we don't have to keep replaying the same couple of events

2) massively increase credit rewards (say 100% increase)

3) lower car prices

Do this, or at least something similar, and it may actually save the experience.

Of course, we assume the same level of content as GT Sport is planned for the next few years.

Decent or good players know is a hell of a lot better to play vs other real players, rather than doing so against the boring AI
Then what the **** was the point of using the lead up to the game's release to almost single handedly promote the game's single player element if they didn't expect people to spend most of their time playing against the boring AI which they made no attempt to fix, instead get people to believe Sophy would be the knight in shining armor?

Also in this update, some event rewards have been adjusted. I wanted to also explain the reasons for it and our plans going forward.
Alright, nice. Explanations and details of plans, exactly what we want.

In GT7 I would like to have users enjoy lots of cars and races even without microtransactions.
Great, so you're getting rid of them then? Seems like the simplest solution to that. No? OK, but you're at least going to explain why microtransactions exist in the first place, right? No? That's really all you've got to say about Microtransactions in your game? You want people to enjoy the game without them, that's it?

At the same time the pricing of cars is an important element that conveys their value and rarity, so I do think it’s important for it to be linked with the real world prices.
Real world prices are one thing, but it's rather unfair and inconsistent if we can't earn money like the real world to buy them. You can't just pick and choose which aspects of the economy you want to be realistic and which you don't. Well, you can, but it isn't going to fly. In the real world the people buying rare and expensive cars can invest in businesses and property, they can earn huge contracts racing just 23 races a year, they can earn sponsorship deals to earn money, they can SELL THINGS TO EARN MONEY. They don't spend hours a day, for years, driving the same few races over and over again.

I want to make GT7 a game in which you can enjoy a variety of cars lots of different ways, and if possible would like to try to avoid a situation where a player must mechanically keep replaying certain events over and over again.
Great, so that means you're spending the time to adjust all races so they pay roughly the same per minute, then? No? Well, you're at least going to immediately add a whole bunch more races, right, which use that variety of cars you talk about. Like the ones you let Jimmy Kimmel play to promote the game? No? Oh.

You're at least going to immediately raise the credits people earn playing online races, right? You know, that variety you were talking about? No? Oh.

We will in time let you know the update plans for additional content, additional race events and additional features that will constructively resolve this.
Oh, you're going to tell us in time when you're going to do something that you could do in a couple of hours, a day or two at most, in regards to more events. It's good of you to be so clear. Now we know. "In time". Perfectly clear.

It pains me that I can’t explain the details regarding this at this moment, but we plan on continuing to revise GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game.
Why can't you explain? It's YOUR game. YOU are the director. Who or what is stopping you? Do you not even have any plans to explain?

We would really appreciate it if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view.
Right, end of the statement, I've still not seen your reasoning for adjusting current event rewards downwards, I've not seen you explain why microtransactions are in the game. I've not seen any details of your plans going forward.

All you've done is claim you don't want people to do the same events over and over whilst doing nothing to actually stop it, and made more completely vague, empty promises about future updates.

What a boat load of nothing, Kaz.

Why are you talking about? Are we players or salesmen?

Probably shouldn't spend the entirety of its pre-launch period acting like there were, then.
Correct.
Working out for who?
Decent or good players know is a hell of a lot better to play vs other real players, rather than doing so against the boring AI
I think it’s great those players are enjoying the game, but the limited single player and online requirements of this game in particular have clearly caused headaches for many players and, very likely, Polyphony/Sony alike.

Online (Sport mode and lobbies) is a big part of nowadays GTs since GT5, like it or not
I'm in a league where we've been racing on GTS for a few years now, and quite a few people in our chat were getting a bit worried and/or frustrated at the difference between Sport and 7 (Sport was the first GT game for some of them), despite the fact that we'd all committed to running our entire season with multiple championships that runs until the end of the year on Sport for precisely the reason that people's preferred set of cars will take time to accrue in 7. Why rush to try and get everything you think you need 9+ months before the thought of running any of our races on 7 will occur? It felt to me like some were worried or even annoyed that they didn't have their GTS garage or were close to it just a few weeks in...

Online lobby races and Sport Mode ones pay credits. Not a lot but still some, so it's entirely possible that someone who enjoys the online racing side can just plug away with doing what they like and build up a decent amount of credits over the next few weeks and months.

I guarantee you Sophy will NEVER be in Gran Turismo 7, or any Gran Turismo. It's just a way for Sony to flex their computing power.

...and they'll probably charge another EUR 70 for it.

While I'm also into Gran Turismo for the racing, not everyone is solely into it for the wheel to wheel racing. Some people like it for the journey that earlier games took them through on the career mode and process of collecting cars. Right now those mechanisms are drastically different than previous iterations of the game. Other people game for different reasons than you, and that's okay.

It's legitimately amazing how elements of this forum can literally say 'yes please, more' when Kaz straight up lies to their faces and tells them that they are worthless.

Absolutely cucked beyond belief. And if it isn't Polyphony's insistence on making the game's Kaz wants to make to the detriment of literally any other aspect, then it's going to be the fans who consider him some sort of genre seer, instead of the has been designer he truly is.

Let's face it, he's a con-man.

Also, completing the basic events you get about 100 cars or so, its ridiculous how much you can do with all those cars.
Never ever in any GT you got so many cars in so little time and some people still cry, its hilarious.
I ain’t racing for 30 minutes to get 8k back, I can only do that so many times before I feel like I’m just wasting my time not making progress towards another one of the games legends cars that pop up randomly for 750,000,000 credits or something.

Never mind the fact that online racing sans Sport is just straight up broken.

"Oh, no, some people are happy with the game and dont cry and complain"
What is wrong with you?

Honestly, I liken early career Peter Molyneux in the racing space to Ian Bell, at least, before he decided to take his ball and go home when people rightfully called him out for being a lying, cantankerous asshole. Yamauchi is without question later career Molyneux.

And really, I don't think his arrogance and typical ways of operating are able to be done anymore. The emperor has no clothes, and really, it was clear he was running out of creative steam in 2004 after GT4 released - considering how every game barring one has basically been the same game over and over again with basically few worthwhile changes except a further circlejerking of graphical fidelity.

It definitely seems like the age of Kaz having an unfettered reign over his fiefdom is now over. Sony's definitely keeping their eyes on him from now on, and cracking down more on his ideas and whimsy.
I watched some TV show about working in Japan its very different they never criticize or contradict the person above them so i doubt he gets much push back for the great idea's he's had over the years :(
