I can tell you, though, if done right, those Electric cars would probably be able to go further than some cars on "fuel", I mean, if the Telsa has like a 300mile range, then some endurance races should be fine to use it in like the 300KM of Grand Valley.

That's 300 miles on a GREAT day. Turn on the headlights, put a hill or two into the mix. Hell even floor it once or twice and your power gets drained. It's no different than normal gas engined cars, you just replace fuel with stored electricity. The harder you drive the faster it get's depleted.

My point was, you could allow the electric cars in some endurance races and not others, or just have endurance races specifically built for Electric cars. maybe replace the stupid Miata endurance race from GT4 with a Telsa endurance race or something.

Based on what I've seen with various electric drag cars, at full throttle, I doubt many of them will get past 5 laps on a typical circuit :)

In these drag cars, the more power you want, the greater the battery discharge

true. I mean, the logical choice would simply be to exclude them from the endurance races. But there are some, like the Jeep Renegade that use unique means for charging their batteries. (the Jeep uses the kenetic energy of the wheels to charge the battery. So, when the vehicle goes down a hill, it produces energy and that energy charges the battery. So, on a course like Nurburgring or Stelvio Pass, that battery could last for a few laps) I think that, however, that the electric cars might be "special" vehicles like in GT4. and you'd only be able to do time trails with them. After all, you only saw a single Telsa in the trailer.

True. Tesla overheats in about half a lap in all the test i have watched (top gear and tekniikan maailma)

Notice warning alarm in 58s.

If that's the case...why model absolutely USELESS cars?

you should watch Barret-Jackson Car Auction some time. There are a lot of awesome classic cars that go across the block, but then there are your so-called "useless" cars that go across the block and some of them sell for more than the classic and exotic cars.

PD:

"OK guys let's model this absolutely useless car that overheats in the middle of the lap!"

"But what about the Lambo Countach?"

"🤬 that."

It's interesting, I would prefer it if PD didn't exclude the EV's from races, but if you do go into the pits with a car that has to recharge, and thus no artificial advantage is given. If that means you're car has to sit there for an hour then so be it, although a time laps would be nice.

Give the user a chance to decide how long of race it can compete in.

Just thought i should add: Exchanging the battery in electric cars is not possible in the space of a pit stop window. It is not like, as most of you seem to think it is, changing the batteries in your remote control, or phone. Electric cars do not have one battery, or even one large battery. They have have several, sometimes 10+ so called 'batteries', that are often not even easily removable (not for a pitstop anyway) because they are placed in areas that are not easily accessible.

So i think that option is out.

If you design an electric car for competition you can design it with batteries that are quickly interchangable. Just like you can design a race car with a large fuel nozzel reciever, filler or what ever you call it.

Maybe the Tesla and any other electric car in the game will be upgradable to that. (It appears Chevy's Volt and Dodge's EV [which is the old Lotus Europa Concept] have been forgotten. But, then again, neither of them have been seen...here's hoping that the Tesla Model S is also in.)

Tesla Roadster.

They model a useless car that 10% of the community even heard about (probably) instead of the Lambo Countach. Makes sense?

Where is the logic.

And tell me, what makes the Tesla Roadster useless? An all electric car that has a range of over 200 miles? That's not useless at all. And I guarantee you more than 10% of the community knows about that car. :dunce:

Tesla roadster is not perfect but it started a snow ball that will never stop rolling. So it is very important car to be included in GT5.

I would much rather drive the Tesla than a Lambo Countach in GT5.

There are plenty of cars like the Lambo, not to many exciting electric cars. Something completely different to try.

Well, I for one are glad you are not in control of the car list.

Gran Turismo has a history of including odd and quirky cars in the series, I don't want them to stop now. Driving an electric will be interesting, I've driven a number of petrol cars, some with relatively high performance, I've never driven an electric vehicle faster than a golf cart however, now I have the chance to see what driving one might feel like.

Electric cars are future dude. Max torque from start is just tooo big advantage over standard cars.

There aren't that many cars like the original Countach ( LP 400 ) for sheer exuberance ( its concept has been copied over and over, but it still remains the original to me ) and I would always prefer it over the Tesla.

Having said what I said above ( and standing by it ) I do fully agree with what Stevisiov said about GT being about different cars delivering different experiences.
And I welcome Tesla ( and all oddities and the usual pedestrian cars as well ) to the series as I'm also curious to know how it drives.

If they have over heating problems in heavy loads I'm sure they will sort that out in the future just like they would with our PS3 over heating. :sly: I mean thats how we move forward into the future. All the more reason they should have a real electric race car series, so that we can improve on technology. Even NASCAR has finally admitted that they should start thinking of using advance technology and like fuel injection systems? hehe!

Seriously, PD wastes their time and money to model on cars like these. Sure they are the future, blabla.
GT4 had Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. There was a Toyota Prius Demo, but after that the hype for these cars were gone.
Instead of wasting resources on these stupid cars, they should make other 1000x better cars premium insted like the Lancia Stratos or the LMPs. etc.

Noo...let's waste our money on this and make these cars Premium...everyone sure have already forgot about the Bentley, the Stratos... 👎

first of all...do you realize how incredibly rare the Lancia Stratos is? PD was probably very lucky to find the one they did. (unless Jay Leno owns one). Second of all, It has not been mentioned if the Tesla is a premium model or not. Same goes with the Prius and Insight. We don't know. so quit crying about it.

And you're not thinking of anything but the past. Yes those past cars are amazing and deserve to be modeled, but so do these new ones like the Tesla Roadster. (which can actually perform, unlike the Prius and Insight) What makes cars like the Insight and Prius stupid anyway?

Maybe I'm just typing this all in vain. :dunce: :dopey:
