I wouldn't be surprised if they really push the 'GOLD' date as far back as possible. I'd say even up to 3 weeks prior to release. I guess that Sony's Q&A are already at work on some aspects of the game so there's less to do when it officially does go 'GOLD'.

I suspect GOLD pressing in the last week in September the 27th so the final build will be shown at the TGS. The manufacturing process must have more than a month to manufacture to keep up demand, if they don't they will likely fall behind on copies by shipping the the Master disc late.

The whole reason why KY tweeted in that mood was because these are the last 6 weeks that they have to debug and tweak, he is on the last stretch to victory and for us this finally the arrival from our long 5 year forum journey to the drive of our lives. :gtpflag:

They must be fast approaching the 'no new content' line, the frantic part of developing where every single person regardless of normal job focuses on QA and bug squashing.

Feeling pretty close now. :nervous:

In regards to the FT-86, I hope they aren't delaying it to make it a hybrid. I wouldn't mind if they had a hybrid version and a petrol version, but if it was only a hybrid that would be awful. If the FT-86 goes into production it would be the first great looking Toyota since the Supra in my opinion.

I heard they were putting a flat-4 for the engine, and there was something about Subaru co-developing it and they too shall create an FT-86 of their own

And yes I quite agree with you, it will be the first great looking Toyota since the Supra (unless you count the Lexus LFA), and one of the first that I will consider/will drive on GT5

I know Lexus is part of Toyota, but I'm just talking Toyota. The LFA though is my favorite car right now and can't wait to use it in GT5.

Also here's a rendering of Subaru's version of the FT86:

Doubt it. GT games don't usually sell out. I never had a problem getting any GT game on launch day. The games sell millions of copies but it's over a long stretch and not in one go like other games do.

Yeah, it takes a while for the "public" to acknowledge GT when it releases.

Gonna have to agree. This will be the first time I pre-order, but I've grabbed GT2, 3, 4, and PSP all on release day without a hint of a stock problem. GT doesn't seem to be as front-loaded as big titles like Metal Gear or Final Fantasy, with huge day-one sales, but just a steady wave of them on a consistent, more drawn-out timeline.

I love Subarus but that looks like a Tiburan minus the headlights. I hope Subaru doesn't go with that.

It's very soon. That is the direct translation of "もうすぐ".

And the translation of "very soon" into proper English is "about 1 year." :)

Yeah it'll probably go gold by the end of August :)

Why would they go gold two months before the release? Games usually take until 2-4 weeks from release to go gold. No way they will finish it a full month before TGS. IMO it will be very close to being finished when TGS comes and that will be the final real test. Then they'll take the following week or two to really make sure they're completely satisfied with everything based on feedback and the reception from TGS.

Simple really because if any bugs/glitches are found they then have chance to resolve these before the mass production. Also im not sure how it works on the PS3 but on the 360 all games have to put through the MS certification process.

No that's not needed on ps3.. 👍

:P

Certification + Mass production? ;)

PS3 games need to pass Sony certification as well. I wonder if Sony will be harder or easier on PD considering the relationship?

The way I understand it is that when a game goes gold it has passed certification and the company publishing the game is going to start pressing the discs.

I did think Sony would have some kind of certification process. So with the certification and the length of time processing I would assume GT5 is almost ready and they are now simply testing, putting final touches.

umm...guys, Kaz is VP of SCEI...I would assume if GT5 gets his approval as being complete, it goes gold without having to go to Sony...'cause Kaz IS Sony.

Is kaz on some journey or some? (his latest tweets..)
A pity I can't read japanese.
He tweeted a few weeks ago that he was having his first vacation in 27 years. :scared:

Looks like he is near this vulcano.

Kaz is in North America! So.. I bet he's later on proceeding to Pebble Beach on Sunday.
But would he fly to Germany after that?
