Just to let you know...
Dynamic conditions would be weather. The weather is usually good so you don't really see it change but it CAN (like in real life, most races are held on sunny days).
Course maker is at the main menu, you know where you choose GT Life, Arcade, COURSE MAKER.
Share courses and share cars can be done by going into GT life and going into your garage or course list on the bottom left. You can push triangle and go to "share with friends"
online community, again community can be as simple as a place for players alike to play together. which this in fact does have that.
oh and my PS3 plays PS2 games. granted i never use it. i have a ps2 for that.
and TV's will be primarily 3D sooner than you think. i'd give it two years before 50% or more of all TV's will be 3D capable. which is nice that they developed it ahead of time which works great for showcasing and to have it ready for everyone who will play this until 2016 or so when the next GT comes out.
oh and things like realistic damage can be found on premium rally cars.
revolutionize racing (games) or "change" racing games is what's meant. really now all other racing games will target GT5. whether it be realism or graphics, they'll pursue GT5 in at least one aspect. it's just a new goal for everyone else including polyphony themselves.
But I'm not saying you're completely wrong but your most of your statements are invalid. I do agree with you some things aren't up to par and we all wish it could be better. But you MUST look at the situation differently.
GT5 was built on a completely new code. They dropped pretty much all their GT4 coding and started from scratch. This allows them to better prepare for future installments. Quite honestly, at the time GT5 began its "production", people were still having issues writing programs for the PS3. The cell processor at the time was too complex. It took time for everyone to really understand it which really happened this past year or two. So you have Kaz's team who are trying to write a completely new program that's better than GT4, add in all the features it has, and honestly make the thing work. The last part of having it operational will take an extremely long period of time.
GT4 on the other hand had legacy coding from GT3. GT3 only had 180? or something like that for cars. What did people do? GT3 GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING ITS SO AWESOME ITS SO REALISTIC so everyone said. Then there are people who go "OMG LESS THAN 200 CARS? THIS GAME SUCKS! NO RACE MOD?!"
Do you honestly think Kaz or anyone else in the production team wanted to disappoint you? It's not like they have any say on what their marketing team wants to say to you. You should be happy that Kaz pushes hard enough to have GT the way it is. Polyphony digital only has about 140 employees as a subsidary of Sony which means Sony execs can fire every single one of them, including Kaz.
Besides, put it into perspective. The game has about 200 premium cars. You try having 140 people create near exact renderings of 200 cars, add 800 cars on top of that, replicate however many tracks are in GT, and add all its functionality within a 50gb disc. Now think of how many lines of programming there is to make this game work. Millions and millions of lines. Now realize that if a single letter in those lines of programming is off, it could possibly mess everything up. Now have those 140 people go through every single line to make sure it works properly. Oh and before any of this begins, make sure you get all the legal rights to put any of the tracks and cars in it.
Do that, all in 6 years. The legal battle would take forever. Think how long it took you to get even a court date for a single parking ticket particularly in a city. Yeah.
What's with my Mr. Know it all ?
So, if it's advertised on TV or on the BOX itself that it has certain things in it, shouldn't they be in it to begin with ? It actually says "leaderboards" on the back of the case. Those were actually added after, so it doesn't count. (time trials only)
Remember the guy on TV that said something like, "realistic damage", well I say make it work ? Where is the damage ? And a thousand cars ? nope. How about "massive online community" ? Don't think so.
And how bout those:
0:51 damage detection (when ? in the 2013 update ?)
1:06 dynamic race conditions (dynamic ? oh really...)
1:11 course maker (not in my game)
1:18 share courses online (can you ? tell me how then, oh, 2012 update ?)
1:32 online community (I don't consider playing online being part of a community, I call that "playing online", that's it).
1:41 gift and share (we can gift, but can you share ? oh, probably another update in 2014 for sharing).
1:51 a revolution in racing ? (what revolution ? the only revolution is the rpm of the engine, because it doesn't revolutionize anything).
and to finish things up, at 2:06, it says that the PS3 only does everything, really ? well mine doesn't play PS2 games, so much for doing EVERYTHING.
And how about 3D ? Who plays in 3D ? 0,000001% of the GT players ?
