Yes I did. Still can't give you any reasons other than "I don't like it".

Also, I saw an E38 today on the road and I have to say, it didn't look as big as I thought it would.

That's plenty of reason to get rid of a car, I got rid of the Blazer because I didn't like it, I got rid of my Oldsmobile and Neon for the same reason. That's pretty much what I do with cars, when my interest for them wanes I get rid of them and get something else.

I think that sticker should say:

B M W
u_y_a
y___n
____k
____e
____l

That's actually a really good idea. I have a feeling this bad boy will be sitting in the driveway for a while. But hey, at least that means I don't have to buy snow tires for the Bimmer because I can just rock the Rex when it snows.

As for the hood, you can't deny that it's clever. At least it isn't rust or argyle like everyone else does. Half of them won't even know what it is anyway.

I like it. A lot of the classic Vdub crowd do that around here and a nice flat bonnet (hood) is the best thing to pull it off.
Originally I wanted one big giant cross but later I decided somebody would probably torch my car. So instead I'll make them smaller so you have to walk right up to it to figure out what's going on. Getting the size right is the next step because it looks good in all sorts of sizes.

It's a Balkenkreuz pattern. That was the symbol of the Wehrmacht during WW2. Everybody associates it with Nazism because of that but it isn't a Swastika, it's just the military symbol like the Japanese Rising Sun, which as we all know has been plastered on trendy Japanese cars here in the States for a while. The Balkenkreuz is a different version of the Iron Cross which is also associated with Nazism despite still being used today by the German military.

I think it's fantastic. Much better than the typical plaid or argyle.

Or you could just leave the hood well enough alone and stop being a god damn try hard for 5 minutes.

The Wehrmacht may have existed before Nazism, but if I recall correctly, it ceased to exist after WWII. And thus it is readily identified with Nazism. The Rising Sun more closely resembles the flag of Japan, unlike the cross, and Japan isn't as known for their war crimes (though they had god awful ones as well).

But seriously, just stop ruining things by wanting to be unique. You aren't a hipster, you aren't even fashionable, so just stop.

I didn't even notice the military connection. I just thought it was another one of those poser fashion patterns like burbery or whatever its called.

Would you get one of those fake european number plats that says PANZER on it? That'd be pretty cool.

I'm not keen either way. This would be better:

bavarian_flag.gif

Relevant and fewer military connotations.
Bayern's flag is a pretty good idea too, thanks for that. The colors would look great on a red car also.

Right now the hood is just plain flat black so I want to cover it with something with German heritage. If none of you have noticed, my last name is disgustingly German and I love the culture. And yes, I want the car to stand out from the pack. Germany's military history fascinates me so the Balkenkreuz was the first thing that popped into my mind.

Whether or not the hood is wrapped in it, there will be a Balkenkreuz on the car somewhere.

Also, I've been considering vanity plates. Some are decent, some are funny, and some are downright hateful and I won't post those here for fear of everyone getting their panties in a bunch over a war that happened 70 years ago, but they're just ideas. Gotta have options:

ENDSIEG

WARMCHN

WARWAGN. If it was a wagon this would be it lol.

MSRSHMT

LEGITLR

JA4SURE

etc. Some of the others are funny but would surely get my car burnt to a crisp.

Hmmm I had thought it was Rosenbaum or something. My mistake.

You want german heritage how about something beer related? When I think about the fatherland I think beer.

I'm a Rosenkranz through and through...

Not that I wear one because I don't, but that's what I am. First generation non-religious, too. And suddenly the world makes sense lol.

Beer is a good idea too. I'll work on some ideas. Maybe ill hang Das Boot off my towhook.

I would also like a potato masher shift knob. You know it'd be awesome!
