Kenny's Muscle Car Competition Week 1

The 'general public' may not agree with me that a Corvette is a muscle car, but it sure as hell competed on the same dragstrips as all the other cars you mentioned. Slap the 427 big block in and you have a formidable muscle car. I don't know whether your post is by personal observation or from some sort of reference, but I, and most people would consider most Corvettes as a muscle car. Granted, the earliest ones were much BETTER classed as sports cars but as years went on those lines blurred. :)

Not only the general public but the trade mags have never classed the Corvette as a muscle car. Granted, because of it's light weight it made a GREAT drag car and die hard Vette lovers will always classify the Vette as a muscle car. It was never produced as a muscle car and factory fresh it never will be classified as a muscle car. Ask anyone in the trade and they will tell you that "officially" the Vette is a sports car with a lot of beef under the hood. But then so is most any Ferrari, or Pantera, or Countach, or Aston Martin or even the only Swiss car manufacturer Monteverdi who put MOPAR 383 engines in most of his cars.

I'm not discounting the Vette. It seems to be a matter of opinion whether or not it's a muscle car. To some it is and to others it isn't. "Officially" it isn't. But don't let that stop folks from sending in pictures of their Vettes.

My post is from YEARS of hanging around, working on, building and playing with muscle cars and guys and gals who do/did the same.

And thanks for the kind words.

BTW: This is what I have sitting in the driveway

1966 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S, Commando 273 cu in engine, 235 hp, 4 speed tranny, all factory. 1 of 3,000 built in 1966. 0-60 mph in about 6 secs. Not bad for a 39 year old red head. :)

F-bodies were made until 2002 not 2001 :P

as long as other people are using Ford GTs i will too...

finals...ihad one in here on the first page

Or else he gathered a bunch of trophies for winning the local annual fishing contest in front of his car :sly:

ROFLMAO

Sorry, I'm not anywhere near as good with a fishing rod as I am with a wrench. Yes, the old lady has been fairly successful in garnering a little hardware in the 7 years that I've had her. There has been some more added to that collection since the picture was taken.

>>stinkfistZ06....Found On Road Dead is what is written on every headstone of every Mustang I've dusted with my MOnsterously Powerful Automotive Rocket.

Sorry, didn't mean to get so far off subject.

Don't worry, friendly commentary is cool, I like to know little details anyway. Did you restore the Cuda anyway or was it already in concours condition?

If the Ford GT is by no stretch of the imagination a muscle car. Unless everything with a V8 is, in which case my GMC Yukon XL is a muscle car. :crazy: The Corvette also technically isn't a muscle car, as has been pointed out, and the mustang, camaro, firebird, and barracuda are generally considered pony cars as they are slightly smaller than the generally accepted muscle cars. This was also mentioned, but just to clarify :) It was the mid-sized large-engined cars that were considered muscle cars :) The ones raced in Nascar and the like back when it really was stock car racing 💡 Not that I have any problem with pony cars :D I do have a problem with modern sports/supercars being called muscle cars though. Maybe I'll post pics of my Viper in here, it's more muscle car than the Ford GT :yuck:

That's great, but if I start defining 'muscle car' as a purist then I have little to no entries. I agree a Ford GT is not a muscle car but it is close enough for this competition. A pony car is a muscle car in my book. Can we please not discuss the veritability of supposed cars or define this anymore? Thanks. :)

Nice selection. There's some funky color things going on in the 2nd picture - in the middle of the grill and by the hood scoop. Did you add that in?

I dont add anything to my pics....those are all in the game.

Scaff, I really like #2! I love seeing vintage looking pictures like that. In fact, that is going to be next week's theme.

#5 is also very good, although the rear lights aren't the greatest...if you can clean that up it will be a fantastic picture!

Thanks, the b&w grainy shots are fairly easy to do and look great.

Have tidyed up the rear light on the Superbird and updated my original post.

Copy here too.

Hey, what is up fellas! I have'nt been around for a while, due to the business of school, and now work...:crazy: But I have been getting the urge lately to play around with photomode and photoshop. So here is a little something I whipped up for you:

FINAL ENTRY!

I don't know which one I like better?

- Modified Original

Anyways, still Cool!👍

I'm going to add another:

Sweet!

WOW @ ALL the entries this past day! Beautiful shots. Franz, those first two are cool, I really dislike that Charger but you made it look good! haha

@vr6 - that's nice to hear :)

@Scaff - it looks a lot better now :)

so I have no idea which muscle car is better or more famous to people
I was born in asia, so I have more connection to old Japanese cars
