ferrari_chrisIMO I don't think you should be telling people how to win, how to place, or what the judge is after. It should be up to them to submit what they think is their best picture, then wait for the results. That's all part of entering a competition - you do your best, then wait to see if you're good enough.
But then, that's just MY opinion. It's your competition and you are free to run it whatever way you want. If I don't like it I should just start my own competition. (I won't actually do that, I'm just making a point.) I never should have said anything in the first place. Sorry.
This competition has really taken off, so you must be doing something right.
Enough of this, better get back on topic. Somebody post some pictures please...
I don't mind a little critisicm. You don't have to apologize. Basically I'm thinking of this as say a client might....you show them a product that you are trying to sell to them, and you usually get instant feedback. There are other companies vying for this position to produce this product, and when you may know what the client likes and dislikes, it makes for a better product. True, people may be put off by my 'unprofessional' way of letting people know which ones I really like and giving tips, but like you say it's my competition.
In fact, a lot of complaint has been generated from the 'official' photomode contest where people feel left out of the top 20 even though they think their picture was clearly better than other entries that made it. They go the whole week thinking they submitted a good entry only to find the judge picked some wacky picture. Here, you see instant feedback, as long as a bunch of people don't post right after you. You get an idea of what I want and how you stand. 👍
In fact, if someone asked I would publicly announce my top 3 right now.
