I feel like I am the only one that has had no trouble with this game since it came out. The controls have never bothered me. It only took about a week for me to get used to them and after that I have had no trouble. I also do not get why people say oh this class is so cheap. I can get just as many kills with the tactician as the assault. Also with the scout, sure it is really powerful in TDM but it is not nearly as effective in modes like S&D. The key to KZ2 is to be smart in your movements. If you realize that everyone is congregating to one area go a different route and flank the enemy. There are so many different routes in each map there is no reason you should be forced to take part in any potential chaos.

The problem is people use Scout and Assault in ways they should've be, Scouts usually end up camping somewhere just for kills and Assault players just run in firing rockets and grenades at the enemies main spawn point. The Scout can be incredibly effective at defending a SnD point for instance, just nobody bothers doing it! I just unlocked Scout the other day and have made it my mission to be useful to the team and not just rack up kills, and in my first game I was, racking up 75 kills for around 10 deaths or something which is good considering I didn't just camp in one spot killing people. I even managed to deliver an objective at one point.

Assault can be great when used properly, ie delivering the speaker because they can move so fast and take more damage, and the same applies to other classes like Saboteurs are great for assasinating someone, but everyone just abuses it for kills.

Use your role properly, and you'll live longer pretty much, but you might not get alot of kills to begin with, try the Medic, set up a squad and just keep everyone healed up in a certain area when defending, move forward as one and especially if you have another medic and both of you have medipacks, everyone can live for a long time (or be revived very fast).

Use your role properly
This is actually the whole point of this game. :) Pick the role that is needed for the current objective, and play to it. Not every role is meant to rack up kills. :) I really don't understand why there are rarely any medics tossing med-packs or engineers repairing ammo crates.

Because the people who play the most are idiots looking for kills. That's it.

I played on a team this afternoon, and all of us were snipers. We got our asses kicked. Sniper is the only character I can choose due to not having a proper controller (still have only the SplitFish).

I hate when I'm stuck playing with these idiots. I have to do everything myself. I have set up the ammo and grenade crates and machine gun turrets, set up respawning points (sometimes I'm going against other idiots on my own team who place them in the most stupid places) and play as a medic.

Medic will win you an assassination game. Not many people know that. Often, when that type of game starts, I have to toss a grenade and stand on it so I can switch to a Medic since nobody else will. Killing yourself ruins you score, but losing the game is worse.

Which is why Killzone is so much more fun in a squad, you don't neccessarily need headsets, just common sense and roles which gel together and you can dominate an entire game if you have a half decent team with you.

You press right on the d pad to select the, ummm, life giver/laser/weird gun type thing, yeah, and then point it at them and press circle.

is it left for the healing ray gun and right for the med-pacs you can drop? Or the other way around? I just got my game back from a co-worker and popped it in, downloaded the current update and jumped online. I enjoyed it for 1 full game session but got tired easily. I think the only way i would enjoy this game would be with a good group of buddies that aren't going to just run/gun and grenade lob. I don't enjoy the hectic Halo-ish feeling of chaos. I really want to get into the game because i enjoy the graphics and feel of the game. But the online gaming majority just shuns away my advances. :guilty:

Killzone 2 Patch 1.27 Details

Click on link for details and pics, but here's the intro:

Even though the game has been out in stores for a while, Guerrilla remains committed to keeping Killzone 2 one of the strongest multiplayer experiences for PLAYSTATION 3. This week sees the release of Patch 1.27, which introduces a number of tweaks based on direct feedback from the Killzone community. We sat down with Eric Boltjes, Guerrilla’s Lead Multiplayer Designer, to walk us through the most important changes and the reasons for their implementation.

Hi there extremely old thread; would anyone like to coordinate an online match? Seems like CoD4 is kind of coming back to life, so i was hoping the same could be done with Killzone.

Anyone?

I'd love to, but how?

Well most of the dudes who play Killzone are already in the GTP Clan, so using the game's online clan page we can easily set up our own game, or join a preexisting game.

I'd consider turning up to a GTP game, dependant on participation and timing. I also have a good friend outside of GTP who would likely be interested in coming along, a good team player who takes up his role with the LMG providing fire support. That is if no-one objects to outsiders coming along.

In other news, without sounding cocky but I have found that I've got pretty darn hot at Killzone, I don't play all that often but I'm still sitting pretty on a kill/death ratio of 2.6 primarily being a Medic but sometimes Sniping. I'm only really interested in the large games though, I just enjoy the intense firefights that spark off on KZ, I usually look for large games (ie 32 players) on medium-large maps none of the small ones ideally but I settle if there's a couple of small ones on the list but some good ones.

I'll consider turning up too, but I need a date and time in advance, since I'm rather busy. Friday and Saturday evenings are usually good for me. :)

Yeah sure any friends can come, why not.

I find that i do much better in "long" games. Not having to worry about the frantic pace of 5 minutes per game type really eases things a bit.

But i also stopped working about k/d ratio a long time ago. That probably helps me.

Yea those are the games I go for, long, large, and multi objectives. IMO it's Killzones biggest online asset and the changing objectives stop stalemates occuring for the entire match.

writes a whole buch of stuff
Hey, what up? I've decided to get Killzone 2 now that I still haven't beaten Liquid in final fight on extreme. I'm so fed up with the final fight in MGS4 with the pressing triangle to get up once knocked down first time (and there are many first times if you die alot) and you can't skip octagons yelling "snake? Snake! Noooooooo" every time I die. And it feels like a lag in the input output and Liquid is always favoured if both press simultaneously. Sigh. Still it's really annoying not to have put an end to it with that final hurdle so I get back and try now and then although it brings me no pleasure :yuck:

Anyway, how do you find Killzone 2?

I personally enjoy Killzone, it's not a game I play alot mainly because I'm busy with my PS3 gaming clan and other things. I wish I did play more because everytime I settle down to play some Killzone, I usually sink a couple of hours into the online.

The story is lacking if you haven't played the first, it's basically 'so there's this war' and not much else if you're new to the series. Reading the info on Killzone.com really helps you understand whats going on, and whats happened previously. What divides gamers with Killzone is the weight controls, it's not all that easy to aim at first, feeling slow and clunky. However once you become accustomed, it is still nowhere near as fast and furious to move as say COD. I personally prefer this slower manner, it feels appropriate, and when you do sprint you cover some distance quickly enough, but it's nice that you can't be shot so easily from miles away. It sure is hectic out there though, definately more action then many games, there's alot going on which can mean in public games you don't get all that much tactical action. Sticking to the large multi objective maps however cures this as many smaller battles develop but you still feel part of a larger struggle. Many people who like tactical shooters will also move towards smaller rooms to get a slower paced games, but I like assembling a squad and doing our own tactics as part of a huge battle.

Overall KZ is good, great to some, average to others I'd say. COD fanboys tend to dislike it as they aren't willing to adjust to the physics, however those who put in the time generally come out happy.

Thanks for the input, trying to find a good price now. Bidding on auctions and such. Might take a few days. Most comments I've read have been extatic and since everyone seems to agree the graphics are amazing due to the game being developed exclusively for PS3 and because I don't own a FPS to PS3 I think it will be a great add to the collection. It's nice having great showcase platform exclusive games too I think. :)

Anyone still playing online? Six months later and there's still life in this game. Lots of worldwide servers and perusing the player 'ranks' on screen show alot of new players. Recruit, sergeants, etc. I find friendly fire matches more tactical and consequential, pitched and desperate. After a hard 10 hr shift at work nothing brings me peace like 3 to 5 hours online laying down an ungodly firestorm. I'll be on Helghan til MAG comes out...

What annoys me though is that while playing online it seems to be rounds in the matches that each last for some 5 minutes which makes the match become something like 20 minutes or longer and if you quit before the whole match is over you'll get no credit for it. So no quick matches online if you care for ranking creds it seems 👎

Personally, I look for a server with what I want. I.e., bodycount/friendly fire and hang out as long as the action is good. I must say, the Japanese ones are usually quite good as far as fire & maneuver and medics regularly revive you. Hardly ever a point-blank noob fest...

I personally look for long ones, up to an hour sometimes I've been in one game, it makes you care more about the outcome when you're in there for a long haul. I'll quit if the actions unfair (spawn camping etc.) but at the end fo the day you shouldn't be to bothered about ranks, if you just want points go into body count only matches.

Well i've sold the game, given that MW2 is due pretty soon. I actually forgot to delete myself from the GTP clan, could someone please do that for me when they get a chance?

I don't play it actively, but a quick blast here and there never hurts. It's pretty good overall, nothing massively innovative but just does everything it aims to do well. The online is sometimes just to frantic if you're in a large game on a small map, but you can see which maps will be played and what objectives and such so you know what you're in for unlike MW2 where the maps just cycle almost randomly. I believe there's a demo for Killzone 2 (single player only) so you may want to look into that first before commiting your cash.
