I played on a Pyrrhus map earlier on as a sniper, got 43 kills vs 14 deaths, which is nice. :) You can definitely notice the zoom-glitch is gone, people are way more careful now. And you get killed a lot less often. ;)

I had 160 points in one game that the next highest score was my own team member with 47. :D I didn't die once. I repaired two ammo/grenade crates and one machine gun. I then sat behind that machine gun the entire time killing dozens.

The machine gun turrets are the key to any victory. Unfortunately, very few bother with them or help defend a machine gunner. But when you get a smart crew, you can unleash hell!

The game is so much better now that cheaters have been suppressed. I'm still playing pistol matches, mostly. They're so much more fun for me compared to all weapon games.

I have yet to try the sniper rifle. Is it any better? I couldn't aim that thing for crap. It was really horrible. I seem to do a great job with the M4 magnum pistol. I'll just keep at it.

I wasn't having any problems with it, but I hear from various sources that it is a lot better now. Hell, if I can score 43 kills with it (never done that before), you sure can!

It's better, but still does stupid and annoying things I don't like. I still cannot get use to it. I'll stick to pistol only matches.

Solid I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but aiming with the sniper rifle is linked to the six-axis on the pad. So you have to keep your hands and the pad very steady when aiming with the sniper rifles, any explosions, etc near you are the resulting 'rumble' will also cause the pad to move and throw off your aim.

May be some of the reason why you are having issues.

On the patch, I had a quick game last night (I seem to have such little time for playing anything these days) and its much better in terms of aim-glitches, but I still find too many people run and gunning at times.

Still its a big improvement on what was, and as such I certainly will be playing on-line a lot more.

I also downloaded and played a few games with the new patch and i do have to say it was a nice improvement. I tried doing the auto-aim thing to make sure and it has been removed which makes for a much more challenging and enjoyable experience. There is still a lot of rocket-launchers and grenade lobbing into bottleneck areas, but overall much improved online game play. I will definately be playing more online as well. :)

Just a heads-up...

Killzone 2 “Behind the Bullet” Interactive Demo Available Today
Posted on April 2, 2009 by Scott Steinberg // VP of Product Marketing

By now you’ve probably seen the Killzone 2 TV commercial, called “Bullet,” which uses the advanced in-game engine of Killzone 2 and the PLAYSTATION 3 to bring the game’s incredible detail to life. For anyone who hasn’t seen the commercial, you can view it here.

As I hinted in my previous blog post, we want you to get a glimpse of the technology behind the game with a playable version of the commercial, codenamed: “Killzone in 4-D.” I’m happy to announce that as of the PlayStation Store update today, you will be able to go to PSN and download the interactive demo officially titled “Behind the Bullet.” This demo will provide an inside look at the making of the commercial, enabling you to take control and slow down the action, move the camera axis and pivot, hear audio commentary from multiple selectable sources such as the art director or technical director at Guerrilla Games, and utilize a variety of buffers and filters to see how every single frame of the commercial was created using the game engine technology. As you will see, everything is directly rendered on a PS3 without the need for additional tweaking or touching up. Simply put: “what you see is what you get.”

Once again, I would like to congratulate Guerrilla for developing not only one of the most visually stunning games ever, but one of the best gameplay experiences to date. The team is excited over this opportunity to show how the art and technology for a project of this magnitude comes together. We hope you enjoy interacting with the demo and thank you again from all of us at PlayStation for making Killzone 2 such a great success.

Ive rented this out for the night and all I can say is wow. The graphics = wow, the gameplay = wow, the difficulty = wow (its rather hard on regular difficulty), the online = wow in the fact that COD should be set out like this. Other things are wow too. Ive mainly been online and of course that is hard but very enjoyable.

The thing I love most about the online is not the online play but the way it is set out, getting connections from your own region. So this means no lag basically.

Anyway good game but I wont buy it :P.

I played through the single player on this once at a mates house in 1 sitting and am in the palace at the moment on my second playthrough at home.

By far the most fun I have had has been using the Mech. I absolutely loved that level. Is there any newer games like a mech warrior that are worth looking at?

Ah ha!

We are also working on the next updates and here are some of the areas we are exploring and investigating for the future patches:

-Controls. Seeing about giving more options.

They are listening! If they get it right, then I will buy the game! 👍

Haven't you been on a rant lately when they were listening before and changed things to meet the angry mob's demands?

Me thinks you only find listening a bad thing when they don't do specifically what you want. Considering your odd controller stance I am guessing that you are in the minority in most cases in regards to controls.

Slight difference, all I want is custom button remapping, hardly a major issue, unlike the 'mob' who forced GG to drastically alter the way the game played, just because they didn't like it.

I also don't find my stance regarding gaming ergonomics odd either, because (as I have said before), not everyone uses their thumbs. Admittedly, I am probably in the smallest minority of all, but I'm quite sure that my case is in no way unique. 👍

Short of abnormal physical deformities I would say that is about as close to an oddity as it gets.

I am calling it odd, as all gamepad style controllers are blatantly designed for use by human thumbs, and thus it can be assumed that nearly everyone uses it in such a way. That design trait may also be why your request that game designers realize not everyone uses their thumbs will never be heard: they are designing for the controller and its intended use.

Any other form of use, such as yours, falls outside the intended design parameters.

You don't like CoD4's layout? There is a layout in Killzone which is exactly like it. The only difference is that there is zoom lock (i believe it's optional, but i'm not sure).

Zoom lock is optional, and yeah, there is a layout identical to COD4. The only difference is the progressive movement.

There's one thing that I hate about this game... when you lose a connection after you finish a game, all the exp you earn is not earned. I've ranked up and gotten disconnected 3 times now; it's really really irritating.

I got disconnected also. About the time you contacted me with mail. I've never been kicked several times in a row like that.

Yesterday, DLC was announced on GameTrailers TV. The first map pack will feature two new maps: The Cruiser and Hig Freight Trains. One is based on an ISA ship and the other based on the freight train level. I heard you can jump from one train to another too. Sounds very nice and it will be released by the end of the month. GG also stated that this is just the beginning. A 'retro' pack is also in the making, possibly meaning that they will redo some of the KZ1 maps. :) They also hinted at some new Warzone features.

I had a wee go online, yesterday now that I am home (with a good internet connection) and it was really good.

Recommended again following the update.

I have seen a few reports (nothing 100%) that are suggesting the new maps will be free.

If that is the case then its great news.

I gotta be honest, that first map looks terrible. I loathed the train part of the story mode.

And it would make perfect sense for those maps to be free, considering most of their makeup is based off levels already in the game. Selling that sort of content would be ridiculous.

Got through to the last level on Friday night, spent over an hour trying to beat it, and gave up for now. I do have to say though, that the last 3-4 levels really showcase the graphics in this game. And that Nuclear explosion.....wow. Loved the mini-mech level. :)

Unfortunately I just had a quick peek on the US Playstation blog and found this:

"Today we can also confirm that “Steel & Titanium Pack” will be available on the PlayStation Store next week (April 30th) for $5.99."

Just got this game and started playing! Really liking it - havent actually enjoyed a shooter on the PS3 until this! (COD Series and Battlefield i bought for the 360).

Only played single player for an hour or so, really impressed with the graphics! Probably the nicest i've seen on any game yet!

Online mode really speaks for itself, loved the fact that the game mode switches while playing! Headshots seem to be a bit of an issue for me - i crouch alot while creeping about and people seem to always get a headshot on me! Anyone else noticed this? maybe i should just run and gun more!!

I was quite dissapointed there was no party system :( me and my mate just had to play in the same lobby but were often against each other rather than in the same team, we created a squad but again only lasted for one entire game.

I have heard rumours about a party system being patched in is this true?

And when oh when will the PS3 have a chat system like the 360? its so annoying i cant chat with someone unless im on the dashboard staring at the chat screen.

Don't quote me on this but I think the 360's unrestricted chat system is patented, so Sony probably can't go there. The text chat system is a start, though, not ideal but we can text chat with people across games, so there might be a voice chat version coming. If it is patented, though, they'll have to figure a nice legal way around that. I guess this could be one of the features the PS3 will never have, but then if I was paying for Xbox Live I'd want the 360 to at least have some exclusive features!

Oh and it's a dashboard on the 360, but its the XMB on the PS3...
