I'm afraid I'm with Rogue on this one. I'd certainly not hit 250+ mph in a car with so little rear downforce that a professional driver loses it in a high speed corner. At the same time, I feel too much anti-Veyron mood here, like some of you have been waiting for anything that reaches the same regions to jump up and yell "I'll have that one instead of the Veyron!".
And did you hear how loud the CCX is inside? For going 250 mph, I'd definitely have the Veyron, and for a true drivers car, I'd rather have a 2xx hp Elise than a 800 hp monster.

EDIT:
I'm not saying the CCX is a bad car by the way!

Fully agree with this. Exactly what I would do but If I could afford a veyron Id also be able to afford a tons of other cars.

...'Egg needs to shovel out an s-load of content for the car, I want to hear the engine a few more times!

The 'Egg is what a Hypercar should be.

The 16.4 is the everymans Hypercar, yes, the 16.4 has an awesome sound, yes it is absurdly fast, no it doesn't actually appeal to me other than the odd pleasure I get from knowing there are 8.0 liter, quad turbocharged, 16 Cylinder engines roaring somewhere out in the world.

The 'Egg would please me much more to have in my garage, it's insane in the same way the Mccy was, a car you have to drive, and a true contender to the top speed record, because unlike the Enzo, or Veyron, you can't pick some bloke off the street, strap him into a CCX and say "floor it and don't let go" and have him get 250 safely. That is what exclusive should mean, not just 1 million dollars to own.

+rep Brilliant post. Right on the money. 👍

Until Renault make a 252mph car, this will remain my favourite.

In all around, the CCX. It's gorgeous, and 200Mph without a top, and even more noise sounds fantastic.

And maybe if I get the chance to own one of these one days, I'll be the man to break that ol' Texas record.:dopey:

i believe that. i saw an article about how this and the Veyron were well matched. it was cool.
nice car btw

Even though I think it's one of the most rediculous looking cars ever.....I WANT ONE!

But to be honest....I'd be too scared to ever drive it. :scared: :embarrassed:

They are close in top speed, but just like the S7 TT, the Veyron pisses over it in acceleration.

The Veyron has that traction advantage from all the Audi AWD expertise it was able to borrow.

Where the Veyron was a case of performance at all costs, the CCX is a small company trying to do things the "right" way when it comes to supercars.

Light, light, light.

What's a CCX weigh? It's sub 3000 isnt it?

Just something glorious about the sound, and the fire spitting, makes the odd looks seem cool.

2601.

I just checked.

800-900 Hp, and just 600 pounds more than HALF a Veyron.

Plus, it will KILL you. That is supercar cool, that is why the F40 was the last really cool Ferrari, if you weren't careful, it would turn around and bite your face off.

So it has a much higher power to weight ratio, next to no downforce, yet the veyron is still faster. Either there is something not quite right with the ccx or people will finally start giving the veyron the credit it deserves.

Weight has almost nothing to play in top speed or acceleration at speeds above the rolling resisnace barrier (I tihnk I remember that right, it's something like that anyway).

Low weight doesn't help traction much... especially with very high power. I believe the Veyron's heavy AWD and overall heft give it much better initial acceleration.

Initial accelreation, yes, but once your speed exceeeds rolling resitance or whatever it is for that car, the weight has nothing to play in a straight line sprint until you try to stop.

The Veyrons weight always matters.

A cars weight doesn't stop suddenly being a factor in it's acceleration ever.

A 3000 lb AWD car with 1000 Hp and 980 lb ft of Torque would embarass the Veyron in acceleration.

The problem with RWD only cars with that much power, especially lighter ones is...well, you either trade off top speed for downforce to get the power down, or you roll into the throttle lightly and pray. Remember, 1000 Horsepower is more than most Le Mans racecars make unrestricted.

True, Weight doesnt matter when you're cruising at top speed.

Accelerating up to it, weight does play a part, you're always going to be fighting against more than just drag.

Weight is the difference between hitting top speed from [_________] to there...

and from [____________________________________] to there

If the Veyron had 1000 lbs less pork, even if it had the same 253 mph top speed, it would hit it A LOT faster.

That's what maddens me about the car, it's stupidly fast, but it weighs SO much that I can't help but wonder what that wicked beast of an engine would do if it wasn't saddled with two tons of car.

Eat tires like nobody's business and scare rich businessmen?

Yeah, I have read about weigh and it's effect on acceleration again, I was wrong (thanks memory), weight does have bigger part to play in acceleration than I said earlier and it only becomes an much lesser issue at speeds over 200mph (the exact speed will depend on the shape of the car) when the force of the air on the car is many times greater than the actual weight of the car in the first place.

That is a purist's car. Loud, unrefined, harsh, mind-numbingly powerful, -It even instills fear into people crazy enough to get behind it's wheel. That's what a hypercar should be. Scary as hell. At least Koenigsegg doesn't sugarcoat the fact that 250+ mph on inflatable rubber tires is a deadly proposition in any car. I have to say that Mr. Koenigsegg has taken his ingenuity and smacked in VAG's face. He stareted with ford motors and an in house designed frame, then went to a completely scratch built car on a much smaller budget.

If I'm going 250 mph, I want to hear it. 250 won't happen very often in most of out lifetimes, s I want to experience it to the fullest with all of my senses.

It's the least scary 1000 Hp car on earth.
And the car with the most accessible 1000 hp in the world, that's how it's right. Not everybodys emphasis on a supercar lies on its scariness.

I agree with this, 👍 but...

I also agree with this. 👍

I guess that means I would appreciate a hypercar that has little trouble attaining 250mph safely and easily, while doing it very loudly and vibrating like crazy.
