Kubica injured in rally crash - Now rallying again...

Heidfeld hasn't been confirmed as Kubica's replacement just yet.

They can't replace Petrov unless Petrov fails to perform. The performance clause in his contract grading him against his team-mate may become void because Kubica is not racing, and will instead revert to a pre-determined minimum number of points that Petrov would need, regardless of his team-mate's performance. Even if Heidfeld impresses, it's unlikely he will race in 2012. He's already talking to BMW about leading their DTM campaign.

It has also been suggested that while Kubica and Heidfeld like one another, they do not want to be team-mates anymore.

I think you're reading too much into it. Eric Boullier seems to have his own version of Ronspeak; he can talk a lot and say nothing. He's very good at dropping little qualifiers into his statements that give him an out, so that if the situation changes in the future, he's not bound by his words for forced to break it.

At least the Bruno will get 2 test days at Jerez (Petrov gets the first two)

I'm hoping they give Bruno the first race, fortunately it can take a long time to make deals in F1.

Actually, Senna and Heidfeld only get one day each. It's a four-day test, with Petrov getting the first two. Senna and Heidfeld will get running on Saturday or Sunday, depending on who Renault want to put in the car first.

Good to see Renault and McLaren having "Get well soon, Robert" in Polish on their cars.

If you look here, it looks like many teams are doing it - Force India, Sauber, Virgin... And I have yet to see it on the Lotus but that might be the angle of the photo shots.

Good on all of you drivers / teams for supporting Kubica.

Szybkiege powrotu do zdrowia Robert from me too! (And that's the only Polish I have ever typed - mods forgive me)

It is on the rear wing of the Team Lotus car.

^just read some of the comments above and found someone posted a link to a Kubica tribute video. 👍

Q&A with Renault boss:
Q: When do you expect to make a decision?
EB: That’s very easy to answer. Nick is here - and without sounding arrogant - to be evaluated. Once we have finished the assessment of Nick we will keep him or look for another driver in Barcelona.

Q: So if you are happy with him at the end of this test he will be confirmed?
EB: There will be discussions before that, but as a general line, yes.

They just finished his last operation and doctor said everything went well.
All we have to do now is just wait till his back.

Good news about Kubica...

Renault will go with Heidfield. Know why? He spent all last season in the 2009 Toyota testing Pirelli's tyres... he might have a sneaky advantage there...

11.02.11 Update on Robert

Robert had further surgery today at the Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure. A team of 15 doctors and nurses were involved to carry out surgery to his foot, shoulder, humerous, and anterior elbow. Dr. Francesco Lanza from the Orthopaedic Department confirmed that the four operations had gone well. Robert will remain in intensive care over the weekend, with the final surgery planned for next week to treat the posterior part of the elbow.

Dr. Rosello also provided an update on the condition of Robert’s hand: “Robert’s hand is in optimal condition and has not suffered any further trauma after such complex surgery. His hand remains well vascularised and warm.”

Martin and David talking about Kubica. They also mention a relevant point that even if Kubica heals quickly and in a good way, he still won't have the fitness to drive an F1 car at his best for sometime until he has gone through a thorough period of intensive training.
But as Kubica himself has said he is aiming to be back in the car before the end of the year, no reason to doubt him on that yet. I guess he will be able to do some kind of fitness training while still injured.
