Lamborghini in GT5!

Some games have an agrement with some manufacturers, like EA had for Need for Speed, those are contracts where sometimes the manufacturer also chose to be only in those games. Now i think that PD made his name/fame & it should be an honor for those brands to be represented in a game with these high quality standards. Biggest problem is always the money. So i only hope PD has enough of it. I have to say that i already will be super happy with Porsche, but Lambo is cool too & there will be some cool races with Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo battles, but Porsche will win!!!! ;)(a Porsche fan!!!)

I edited the thread title. Typing "(update news)" when there is no official news or update in the thread title is not acceptable, it is misleading.

I'll keep it open, since every other thread for GT5 has less than 10 posts; other previous discussions also included Porsche (see separate thread), and Ferrari (a done deal for GT5:P, no thread necessary).

Firstly I'd like to say I've been one of the stronger GT fans ever since the beginning of the series.

But with todays driving games/sims forging further and further ahead of the GT boys,in all honesty it's getting harder and harder to be interested in anything that will be in GT5.

Like I said a few weeks ago PD really need to pull out the stops with 5 because the competition is streaking further and further ahead.

One of the main reasons I enjoy the GT series is the realisticness of the cars and tracks, you don't see the same level of detail in any other racing games. I have a picture of the 3G Corvette as my wallpaper and people think it's the real car, and they're suprised when I tell them it's from the game!

Indeed, which is why I don't see any other driving games forging further and further ahead.

Sorry, but I have to disagree(thats ok,its my opinion)many of the mods in rFactor(especially the just released Historic and GT Touring Cars) have physics and sound lightyears ahead of anything GT has produced so far.Yes...I said "so far". I'm still holding out hope that PD can regain their "King of the sims" title.

I agree. While all the GT games have been - and will continue to be - excellent, I think some other games have pulled ahead in some respects. The graphics of Forza and NFS ProStreet (PS3 version) are superb, with the added bonus of damage modelling. Yes, we love the realism of GT, but if that is so much of a priority, lets have damage, rolls in crashes, engine failures etc like other games... where should it end?

As for what goes on behind the scenes with the licences, who knows what goes on in large-commerce business deals? Which is all it comes down to. A huge company like the Volkswagen-Audi Group will not necessarily see their addition in a game as being a huge marketing boon, as a huge amount of the playing population are too young to buy their vehicles anyway, (let alone top-of-the-line Lambos) and therefore of no commercial use to them. They need to sell cars, not posters of cars

Dave A - there's a Lambo dealer near you in Stockport, go and ask them wha's happening ;)

Well that doesn't really explain why Lambo's are in games such as NFS where there are also youngsters playing, not to mention it's all about illegal street racing whereas GT is about legal track racing.

I am not sure if anyone mention this .. but go to GTP TV, and look for the video GT CARS IN REAL LIFE (something like that) and you will see Current GT5P cars and as well LAMBO!

Lamborghini Diablo VT 6.0 SE '01 <-- favorite car of all time.

Get me one of those in GT and i'll finaly be able to die happy.

That is all. kthksbai

With E3 looming, it's never too early to speculate what (if anything) we could anticipate for if PD shows up at E3. Let's look at the past- NOBODY saw Ferrari coming to GT until (then) GTHD debuted. Anything we may learn may just come down to surprises. Ferrari + Lamborghini will get the (I hate using this, but it's appropriate here) "fanboys" excited. Ferrari AND Lambo. The same hypocritical dopes who've blasted GT for years because of not enough exotic sports cars may finally have reason to shut the hell up and get to see cars they've wanted to see for the longest. The big three are Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini. A deterrent to Lamborghini would be that unlike Ferrari and Porsche, Lamborghini hasn't had a whole lot of racing success. Even still, Lamborghinis are still those childhood cars that are sexy to look at as they are to drive. I can already imagine making my own Murciélago GT-R should Lambo materialize in GT.

My likelyhood for Lamborghini showing up at E3 as a surprise is about 40%. Likelyhood for Lamborghini showing up at or before GT5 is released is about 65% chance. But again... it's still never too early to speculate.

I still don't see why this couldn't happen. I mean Porsche and Lamborghini should be in there because the Audi Group has a controlling interest over Lambo and Porsche is going to have a controlling interest in VW soon, Audi and VW are already in the game and all these companies are really intertwined through various partnerships. I used to be able to see why Lambo didn't want in, it was the same reason why Ferrari wasn't in, they didn't want their products to become mainstream knowledge, they wanted to keep everything rather secret and exotic but now that Ferrari's in Lambo shouldn't hold back, the only reason I think they is that it is becoming pretty common knowledge, even among the less car savy that Audi controls Lamborghini and going over to GT might be the "straw that breaks the camel's back" for some of their usual customers. I have never seen any reason why Porsche wasn't in this game, they make pure sportcars nothing terribly exotic (with exception of the Carrera GT)but certainly nothing too common. Yet they feature their cars in NFS! I just don't get it.

Most of that ^ could be explain with the evil that is EA games.

Good point after all they did destroy good cheap sports games by buying out ESPN games and not only making them more expensive but also made them crappier because they now had no competition to speak of! Anyway I digress, I still don't see why we have VW and Audi and not Porsche, Lambo I have less hope for but it seems that it would be almost as likely given how intertwined these companies are! I remember they put a Diablo GT in GT3 but you'd have to have a gameshark or some sort of mod to get it, even then how did they negotiate that? A model was put in the game and widely distributed and yet there was no legal repercussions? I'm assuming its because they had gotten some sort of license otherwise it would have been like the hot coffee controversy.

It would seem that way, but it isn't. The ownerships/partnerships between manufacturers don't have an effect on everything. Audi can have controlling interest over Lamborghini, but it can't force Lamborghini to do anything. Whether or not a manufacturer appears in GT5 will be up to that manufacturer.

The Lamborghini (& Porsche) issue is due to PD's modeling team. Lamborghini & Porsche, as the story goes, where in talks with PD. But, before an agreement was reached, the team had already put the Diablo & Porsche in the NTSC-J. Neither company had completely agreed by the time they found out, so PD was pretty much forced to "remove"/lock the cars from all other versions, though I think they managed to remove the GT3 from the NTSC-J version as well.

Now, my theory on why the Diablo didn't cause a legal issue is that PD had managed to get the license of the racing team that ran it. I think JLOC agreed to let Polyphony use their trademarked names while Lamborghini was being talked into using letting them use the Diablo GT1. After the mess, I wouldn't be surprised if Lamborghini threatened legal action for still distributing their car, but I believe PD's defense was that JLOC said they could as JLOC owned the actual car.

But that's just my idea. There's a whole lot that is still unknown about what actually happened, and the most we can hope for is that it didn't cause bad ties with either group.

tests have been done in japan by Best Motoring and lambo beats everyone, GTR 35 came in second. Proche 911 surprised everyone because it handles badly on technical Japanese tracks.

who agrees with me that not only should PD put in lambos and Porsches but more cars from europe. GT is really big in europe so way not include more of our cars like, lambos, porsches, nobles, mclarens, ascari, koinenzeg(very hard spelling lol), Bugatti and more.

The japanese make plain, hi-tech cars that can beat cars with twice the power-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Americans make cars witch dont have great cornering but have massive V8 and V10's-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
And in europe we make the supercars.

I am one of those people who loves to see witch car is best and i would love to race lambos etc. I have already seen that a skyline GT-R an Evo 7 and a Impreza results in the gt-r winning. I have seen which muscle car wins a drag race. I have seen that you can turn a
rx-7 into a ultra car.

So PD, give us other things to test.(lambo vs ferreri vs noble vs corvette vs NSX vs Porsche vs GT-R) What a race!!

I agree on that too man, but we shouldn't forget Spectre(British) and Isdera(German-was for example in NFS 2), both are exotics but the Isderas are really great.

You do realize that Best Motoring is biased right?

Ooooh, that would be an awesome race! You know, having race grids like this (including the Viper) is the only reason I play Forza.

I think Lamborghini will be in GT5!

Lamborghini, Bentley, Bugatti etc . . . belongs to Volkswagen group, for that reason I dont belive that Polyphony Digital have to pay a lot of money for the licence of Lamborghini brand.

And like we see in GT4 Polyphony Digital introduce Bentley, is maybe possible to have Lamborghini or Bugatti on the GT5. :sly:

Let see what appen!

Volkwagen loved Gran Turismo so much! that they given a R32 to Kazunori as a gift!!!
Then i don't see why Volkswagen would block Kazunori having Lamborghini on GT5 Full Version! ahhhhhhh

Its gonna have to be. :D

VAG has absolutley nothing to do with lamborghinis gamelicenses, AFAIK.
The same way FIAT has nothing to do with Ferraris or Maseratis appearance in any game.
Do you think Renault could tell Nissan NOT to be in GT5??? Any licenses are negotiated directly with the manufacturer, not its parent company/major shareholder.

Guys to see the GT in real life and LAMBO just click on top... TV link duhh ;) It's on GT Planet video files!!!!

word!

Kaz said once that he was hoping to include Porsche ('cause he has one), Ferrari (in), Lamborghini and Maserati (And with the release of a car named 'GranTurismo'...maybe...) But we will see. Kaz has talked to these dealers before (as mentioned in several interviews) but has always run into licensing issues. Ferrari is being very protective of their license, but I am thinking that Lambo, Porsche and Maserati will appear in GT5. But who knows.

For the most part that is true. but it was Volkswagen/Audi that yelled at PD for the Lamborghini Diablo GT in GT3 when PD didn't ask their permission. So, parent companies do have some say it what gets used and what doesn't.
