Put in a couple sessions... I know 1'23s are possible but I'm too tired to pull one off.

Nice one Dogbreath! Yeah getting a near perfect lap is pretty tiring. Your in the lead for picking the next car and track on monday, I'm ineligible as I picked this rounds.

Guess I'll have to put a wing on the car and try again then.

Edit: 1:24.782 is the best I can do without investing lots of time into suspension and gear settings.

Nice Car-less! We now have three horses in this race, when GrumpEone gets back online hopefully we will have four.

My horses have been tied up for a week now, but I think I can unleash them later this evening, and throw some times out there. Been a tiring week though, ever tried to move a house full of stuff with little more than a '95 Tracker & '03 Vibe?

No, can't say that I have. As you can see we have some pretty stiff competion this week. Much different then last week when you took off and left me at the starting line saying in a Deputy Dog voice, "Which way did he go!" I learned quite a bit though especially about the LSD and Gearboxes.

Finally found a line where I can really hammer the crest/downhill braking out of the tunnel. Rear toe and good rear shocks are needed to properly set-up for the Nouvelle.

Round 8
Track: Cote d'Azur
Car: Lotus Esprit V8 GT '98
Time 01: 1'39.522 1'31.378
Time 02: 1'36.161 1'29.879
Time 03: 1'34.574 1'28.093
Time 04: 1'30.033 1'26.918
Time 05: 1'29.780 1'25.741
Time 06: 1'27.696 1'25.553
Course Style: Normal
Tires: R5
Upgrade Level: Extreme
Horse Power: 857 HP 814 HP (w/ Oil Change & Wing)
Driver: GrumpEone

Not one of my best courses, I still have some tweaking to do...

EDIT: Actually I just realized, my Esprit GT was a 0.0 miles version, so really none of my times are valid, I'll do some more laps tonight or tomorrow, with the right one, maybe 40 less HP may actually help my times here. I will strikeout the 0.0 mile times.

EDIT II: New Times with the Used Car and more track familiarity. (to the right of the struck-out times)
EDIT III: New Times....(below)

Round 8
Track: Cote d'Azur
Car: Lotus Esprit V8 GT '98
Time 07: 1'25.076
Time 08: 1'24.030
Course Style: Normal
Tires: R5
Upgrade Level: Extreme
Horse Power: 814 HP (w/ Oil Change & Wing)
Driver: GrumpEone

EDIT IV: Haven't been able to top 1'24.030 yet, not sure where 4 more tenths are, I'm thinking between 2nd and 3rd gears, or in the slight hesitation at the bottom of 4th. Though I keep running clean run after clean run, all the times are between 1'24.2's & 1'24.4's. Maybe there is a few points where I can drift a tenth off, here and there.

BTW- great time dogbreath.

GrumpE, we should race in person :D

:) that sounds like it would be fun, if I can use your wheel

I miss my wheel, and it wasn't even force feedback, just an old thrustmaster screw-to-the-table type. It did allow more fine steering movements than these damn analogs do.

A friend of mine in St Clair Shores has a Driving Force GT for his GT4 setup so we could both have a nice wheel to use. You know a Driving Force Pro or Driving Force GT is just about $100 these days? Way less than they were new!

Yeah, I'll definitely pick one up, once I am working again. Then those times should come down a bit.

Round 8 is over!
Dogbreath had the best time with GrumpEone the second best. Dogbreath picks the car and track for round 9. Please use the following example for the posting when you make it.

Example:
Round 1 (Bold, text size 4)

Infinity G35 Coupe '03 (New)
Fuji Speedway '90s (Normal)

P.S. An excellent week of gear grinding, hopefully Dogbreath will come up with a good one to keep it going. 👍

Round 9

1990 Toyota Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R (used)
Trial Mountain (Normal)

Course Style: Normal

Upgrade Level: Extreme w/ Wing
Horse Power: 650 HP

Since I just bought one of these in real life I thought it'd be a good choice :)

Threw on a baseline set-up and did 10 laps. Fun car, very sensitive to overcorrection but a crisp, linear response to pitch changes.

Edit: Did some more laps. 1'17s are possible.

Lets start off by seeing what I managed when the car was stock;

Track: Trial Mountain
Car: Toyota Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R
Time: 1:46.484
Course Style: Normal
Tires: S2
Upgrade Level: Stock
Horse Power: 278 (6.2 mile special)
Driver: Car-less

...and after I spent 283,100 credits building another one up;

Track: Trial Mountain
Car: Toyota Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R
Time: 1:24.754 (First Lap)
Course Style: Normal
Tires: R5
Upgrade Level: Extreme
Horse Power: 650 (Stage 5 Turbo)
Driver: Car-less

...and with added downforce and a few practise laps;

Track: Trial Mountain
Car: Toyota Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R
Time: 1:18.419
Course Style: Normal
Tires: R5
Upgrade Level: Extreme
Horse Power: 650 (Stage 5 Turbo)
Driver: Car-less

There's another 13hp available if you go for the Stage4 Turbo, and another 5% (32.5hp) if you build up a 6.2 mile special. I think 1:17's are possible with a bit of work.

Track: Trial Mountain
Car: Toyota Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R '90
Times:
_1'17.395
_1'17.228
_1'17.109

Course Style: Normal
Tires: R5
Upgrade Level: Extreme w/ Wing

Just some more laps, no car changes.

I like the Stage 5 better. Preloading for boost is a lot more effective and the gears can be a lot longer.

Edit... Sixteeeeeenz.... sixteeeeeeeeeeenz... *shamble*

Edit 2... SIXTEENS :D

Today I built up the low mileage Supra 2.5GT Twin Turbo R to 685hp, transfered my settings over, and wasted an hour aiming for mid 1:17's. After 70 minutes, 90 miles and dozens of fatal collisions the best I could manage was 1:17.951. These extreme tunes are just beyond my skills and patience.

Notes:
- Braking for turn 1 must start as soon as the curb on the right starts, before the banner.
- Turn 1 must be taken with two wheels in the dirt, and 2 on the track to get position for turn 2.
- Turn 2 must be taken close to the curb because of a bump mid-track.
- Do not touch the curb on turn 2 or you'll be unsettled for turn 3.
- Do not hit the gas too early at turn 3 or your going off.
- Keep off the curb in turn 4 as it spins up your tyres.
- Keep tight on turn 4 or you'll hit the rocks as you exit the tunnel.
- Let off the gas exiting the tunnel or you'll spin your tyres.
...

You get the idea.

My line through turn 4 points me straight over the crest on the left side of the track. Only minor adjustments for 5, which is all about hitting the blind apex.

I hope to get my horse in this race today, I've been swamped the last two days.

Good points Car-less.

Well I think I going to try another gearbox tommorrow, I 've made four so far and can't seem to get any lower.

I had one run where I might of, but I blew the whole last part of the track from turn 10 to 13.

I'm totally open to 'revealing my secrets' if you want any tips or tricks. I've driven probably 10,000 miles of Trial Mountain since GT4 came out.

Well a hint on the auto gear setting and the final gear you used wouldn't hurt. ;) I think I have a good idea but haven't gotten to try it out yet.

Round 9 is over!

P.S. Another excellent week of gear grinding. Grumpy and I are lagging a bit behind. Pick us a good one Car-Less.
