Large day one patch!

What happened to "large day one patch"? Now that everyone has seen the game,they expect very little in the patch?

Personally I would like to expect alot,but am coutious to expect too much.

The actual phrase from PD was "fairly large". And that quote came in the context of Kaz purely talking about online features. The internet has slightly exaggerated what he meant me thinks.

I usually expect the opposite of what Kaz says, I've heard the word "soon" too many times in the last 5 years to take him seriously.

I know the patch isn't out but expectations are mounting and it would be nice to have a place where people point out all the differences and nuances between them when it does.

Feel free to express your opinions on what you would like to see fixed from what you have seen so far.

Mine are;

1. Headlights on more cars at night along with reflections of the cars in front so they don't appear to be emerging from the darkness. Since this looks so poor in replays I expect it's likely this will be fixed as it misrepresents the cinematic/realistic goals of GT as a whole.
2. Audio - It goes without saying but it's clear from several videos that some cars are using placeholder sounds, even premiums. This leads me to believe they may actually do a sound patch (I doubted) and simply didn't bother to update the newer cars until the proper audio was ready.
3. General enhancements as the core of the game is clearly in the retail disk and was likely mastered some time ago (not that long ago as the Deltawing isn't there). It's safer to just burn a "safe build" for retail and update later. This could see a lot of features that aren't as asset intense to get updates...

You're basically asking for what's wrong with the game and what was/will be fixed while they other thread asks what we think the patch will cover.

We must have posted at the same time... But my thread is for noticeable/actual differences so we have a place to compare against all that we have learned so far. Not as much an expectation or request thread... but it can double as that in the meantime so people have quotable context.

You are correct. I was just thinking of the thread that was named that.

I think it would be totally cool if PD fooled everybody and put all the promised features and a few surprises in the patch. But realistically I don't think it will happen.

Also, I've been reading on the GT website, and, apparently, new cars will be implemented into the game by updates, no DLC. So, we don't have to pay real money to access new cars.

It isn't even updates. It is like the seasonals thing. They just... come! It is awesome!

I do not see any reason to expect much, some final touches that were not done in time for the master disk, Of course I will not even really know what it entails as I have not saw the unpatched game yet and will download the patch ASAP

Am I the only one who remember those news about the "Large Day One Patch"? I know we should not put our expectations too high but come on, with that kind of news we are not getting only the activation of the online mode, since that happens in every game, the online gets enabled always on day one... We should not expect a lot, but we can still have hope since we know that somethings are unfinished.
About the sounds, I would love to have a day one patch with that, but not expecting much, unless it was just a few to replace the worst (and could be like that with the next updates, like 10/20 cars with their sounds updated each patch...), but I have a feeling that they wil be updates since the Huayra as the sound of a Gallardo with the turbo noise, so it might just be a placeholder. Sorry for going a bit off-topic

Genuinely think it'll just activate online, course maker, GPS tracker thingy and fix some glitches such as the weird Alpine hood cam. Updated sounds will arrive but I suspect it might be in maybe a month or so.

I expect the Day 1 patch will be a patch on Day 1 with some stuff in it that we cannot predict at this point. Beyond that startling prediction I have no information

When asked about the patch in relation to the embargo Amar posted this on Thursday:

Yes, it is the main reason for the embargo as I am aware.

People with review codes have been asked to wait for the patch to become active - on Dec 5th AFAIK - in order to get idea how the game should perform, play and everything else compared to vanilla version.

Amar is usually spot on with this stuff.

So the 5th should be "Day 1" as that's when the game releases in Japan. And any question of their not being a patch . . . well there WILL be a patch, there is no question of that.
