Large day one patch!

Of course it does matter...

Considering most of the “missing features” you list have the potentiality to be incorporated on the fly during GT6 lifecycle, I’d rather underline the incredible fundamental work PD has achieved. Turning a finite piece of software into an open and modular platform. A platform on which PD has undoubtedly proven continuous support.

People complained about the standard cars being, well, sub-standard. Indeed, PS2 data wasn’t up to PS3 requirements for sure. I’m confident every asset build since then is future proof, or at least PS4 ready. Eventually leading people to complain about PD wasting resources in unnecessary and overly detailed models, not earring users requests, and being incapable of organising what they consider should be their priorities. Go figure.

The first available GT5 DLC track was Spa. If I’m not mistaken the very most requested track by this community. Maybe PD just got lucky with that one, but considering GT6 announced newcomers, I still suspect them to be well aware of popular demand. Can’t wait to see what they’ll have in store considering DLC will now be proposed on a supposedly monthly basis. It is however pleasant to note forecasted DLC didn’t turn startup track list dry.

AI, another of the regular complain, is apparently progressing in a very positive way. And Online racing improvements are still to be revealed.

It would be pretty unrealistic to expect every flaw to be addressed at release date, some will during the course of GT6 lifespan, other will need to wait next-gen no matter how unfortunate.

I don’t blame PD for trying to fill as much as feasible the printed/D1patched V1.whatever of the game considering, as you pointed, this is what will likely be under scrutiny of the critics and early reviewers. These guys won’t probably download every update, nor will they revise their score after any given upgrade.

Anyway, if anything the GT franchise - by radically changing the underlying architecture of the game - has undergone a massive overhaul on the PS3. Most of which (GT5 weaknesses included) will benefit whatever comes next. Not a small task, given the aggravating fact the hardware was unanimously considered has a programming nightmare with very limited if not insufficient resources.

Yes this is what I would have preferred. They should have waited a couple more years until the game was finished, THEN release it as GT5. GT6 is what GT5 should have been.

You are basically saying you have no problem paying for an unfinished game, then waiting for patches to finish the game. You are giving the okay to release unfinished games. Which is exactly the problem with the gaming industry this generation. No offense.

Well, on December 6th will have over 1200 cars, 37 tracks with 100 layouts, updated physics, a new aero system, more visual customization, and improved ai. Not to mention the things that will be in the day one patch. So despite the fact that not everything will be in the game on day one I'm sure we'll be able to find plenty of things to do in the meantime.

You seemed to miss the most important point I made in that post. YOU can choose to buy it whenever you'd like, so if you feel the need to wait until the updates are all done than more power to you. You'll probably pay less for it aswell. But the way PD is doing it will allow the rest of us to get the game earlier. I don't see the downside, you are free to have it your way and I'm free to have it mine.

I see a lot of posts at the moment with some seriously high expectations of what it will bring.

I seriously think it will be similar to GT5: enables online, GT TV etc and fixes up some obvious bugs.

Nothing major.

A poll.

The only extra thing I'm expecting will be the Mercedes-Benz Vision GT car. Other than that just enabling online functions.

I think the launch party will tell us what we will have to espect from the day one patch,
i hope some special things but i think we will just get online unlocked.

Voted for the 1st option (but wont be disappointed if it stays as the early delivered v1.00)

I suspect that with the timescales PD have worked to there is lots that couldn't make it in time for the game to go gold.

Plus my conspiracy theory side says that PD want to wow us and can do so with lots of features (think unannounced cars / livery editor-maybe/ Lots more RMs - PD said months ago much more customisation and we haven't seen any really yet, etc. etc) that they can add with a day 1 patch that anyone with a pre-release copy of the game can't possibly have as it's DLC.

The exception to this is maybe some trusted journos' like Jordan who may get the patch made available at the launch party (in a couple of days) to give them time to review the FULL GT6 before launch day.

Just my opinion though........

I think it will add some features, bugs fixes and add some cars as the Mercedes Benz Vision GT Concept, the Anniversary Edition liveries so once we unlock the "DLC" we can have them, and some more stuff.

Also PD must be reading our opinions so far with all these leaks...GT6 The Real Patching Simulator.

But the game went gold maybe a week ago or maybe even 2. How much do you think they could accomplish in lets say 3 weeks?

Plus the embargo is in place til the 5th I believe and that's when the patch will be available.

Not so much the timescale as how much PD wanted to hold back from the inevitable pre-release versions that get into the wild, we will all know in 6days for sure but for now I'm hopeful of many additions that are not present in the disc versions that are in the wild.

Bug corrections, possible sound update for a handful of machines, the Mercedes VGT, just maybe some machines, online activation.....

I'm expecting probably a couple of cars that PD "forgot" to put in, enabling online, some updated standards and maybe some bug fixes...

What happened to "large day one patch"? Now that everyone has seen the game, they expect very little in the patch?

Personally I would like to expect alot, but am coutious to expect too much.
