Le Mans 2010 and GT5

Wish Toyota team Europe returns to The 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Let's not forget Nissan.. those CP cars were fantastic from what I've experienced of them in GT4. The R89CP and the R92CP. The days when the Le-Mans cars were pushing close to 400 km/h on Mulsane straight or whatever it's called.

Toyota GT-one is faster car on new version of La Sharte circuit with top speed 357 km\h on Mulsane straight!!!!:sly: Last year top speed was just 302 km\h set buy Aston Martin....:indiff:

f1 is like that as well though in the 90's the cars had 1000bhp could do 240mph+ and now they have 800bhp and do about 230bhp but they are faster round the track because of handling, so if any one knows which is faster round the track Toyota GT-one or new audi R15+ and the PUG 908 HDI?

I know that buy am talking about top speed!!!

I know Mulsane Straight is a public road but I wish they'd make it smoother. It's enough to make me sea sick.

Well, according to wikipedia the fastest lap a GT-one has done is 3:29.930 and the 908 HDI did a 3:18.513 in 2008. So the PUG is faster 👍

Uh, no. Top speed in qualifying last year by a Peugeot was 340km/h.

The top speeds are measured at different areas each year, they aren't comparable. The 908 has over 700bhp compared to the GT-ONE's 670bhp but has more draggy aero.

Over a qualifying lap the Peugeot 908 is over 10 seconds quicker than the Toyota GT-ONE but more impressively 15+ seconds quicker during a race lap.

The big development in recent years at Le Mans is the capability of the top LMP1's to race close to their qualifying pace.

The diesels produce over 800lb-ft of torque as well. I think it might be close to 900lb-ft. I know it's more torque than there is HP. That's crazy, and that's why they are so fast in acceleration, but not only that, they weigh only a bit more than the GT-ONE and get better mileage. They're more modern, tire technology is better, drag is less but downforce is increased (rules). They are even faster this year than last (according to Spa, Peugeot set lap records). The rear wing is smaller in diameter than 08, but allows for a higher speed. If the GT-ONE were to race today it'd be off the pace, but faster than the LMP2 cars. But with some updates it could compete.

Lap times in 1999- Fastest lap of the race was Toyota GT-ONE 3:29.930

Lap times in 2009- Fastest lao of the race was Peugeot 908HDi 3:18.513

10 years=10 seconds.

No, please. This would be the same crime as making Nordschleife smooth. Then it wouldn't be Nordschleife anymore. I like the bumps and surface details and hope they equip all track in the game with characteristic surface as well.

Thing is though, you can´t actually compare times between those cars and years, since the track has been both rebuilt in sections, and resurfaced in other parts. Tyre dev is also a major factor, as tyres today are way better than ten years ago. But that aside - In terms of top speed other cars have been faster, but I´d say the 908 is the fastest car ever around La Sarthe. The quickest lap ever was a 3:15 set during the Group C era, and that was without the chicanes on Hunaudieres, so to only loose 3s over a lap with the chicanes is exceptional.

True, a comparison between different era's is quite irrelevant due to the changes in track layout ( aka chicanes ) although the record for the longest distance travelled ( 5335 Km ) during the 24 hours set in 1971 using a Porsche 917 still stands to this day.............:)

They also have the highest avarage speed IIRC.

Not only the chicanes! http://www.virtua-lm.com/lemans/history.php?y=72_78 if you are interested in the changes made over the years. allthough the latest rebuild of Tetre Rouge is not there, since the site seem to not have been updated since -06...
