How would people feel about a Super GT/JGTC race at Monza on Saturday at noon (CST)? No points. Just fun. It can be a trial run to see how competitive it can be.

SRF: Off
Laps: 10 (race would last about 17-18 minutes)
Tires: Unrestricted
Penalties: Light
Damage: No

Let me know how many of you are interested in this, and I wouldn't mind hosting.

Just re-posting this.

I will be on at said time on said track. Whoever wants to drop by can do so. If there are enough people around, we can try different cars/ tracks/ rules etc.

Not trial and error....trial and FUN.

EDIT: I'll be in my lounge.

It appears so, but is this league still full as stated in post #1? Because I really love the league setup you have going here and would love to join. I really like the car class idea and point system. If the league is full, would there be any interest in having the exact same races/regulations held by another host at the same time, or on a different date? That would increase the entry field and point competition, kind of like divisions? Plus everyone may not be available on a particular evening, and allowing more people into the league would hopefully provide a full field for each race? I dunno, I'm just trying to find a way to get in on this fun?

:) So true, g4.

I see akira posted a little bit about himself in the first post, and since this series is by far the most populous out of all the ones I have been in, it might be fun to know a little bit about our fellow racers. I'll go first.

EDIT: See social group for this league (link in first post).

Totally agree.
I am all for whatever helps everyone drive clean.

I also don't want to worry about a bunch of "rules".

I don't worry about where i finish. That was some of the most fun i have had with the game yet. I would rather battle for 9th with similar racers than blow the cpu away by 20 sec.

May I suggest we/you create an introduce yourself thread in the social forum instead of this thread? I think it would be nice to begin breaking up the various topics, practice times, rule discussion etc into different threads to improve the communication.

The more, the merrier...I say.

The possibility of doing this as a 2- tier event has been discussed in order to allow move people to participate. Even though we have more than 20 people listed, I don't think we have ever had a 16 car grid in any of the races yet. So, add akira on PSN and keep checking in. Show up on race day and join the fun.

Good idea. I will delete my above post on here and create a new thread in the social group.

Automator - you are welcome, but its true, we may have to have a split schedule.
There were more that 16 racers trying to get in yesterday.

BTW: Love the idea of being sociable in the social club!

I'm gonna have to withdraw from the league due to time zone differences, I'm GMT-3:30 and have classes early during the week.

This is gonna be a fun series, sucks I can't take part.
Good luck to those who are.
Cheers,

I'm goofing around online now. Send me a message if anyone feels like fine tuning some cars.

That was fun, thanks for inviting me. My driving is usually not quite that horrible, but I am trying to get used to a new wheel. After you left, I switched to my Class B car and was just as fast (slow)

Have to get voice chat set up to. Typing with a steering wheel is insane. :P

Had some good runs last night. Starting to like my m3 on the cork screw and my sti of course.

Also got a new Bluetooth headset that actually works and will last more than 10 minutes on the battery.

Good morning guys, I'll be running some practice runs around noon today if anyone wants to join me. Just start without me in my lounge if I'm late.

Practice: 12:00 This afternoon CANCELED - I see that scuudz is also hosting a race at the same time. I'll start mine after his.
Reason for practice: Clean passing with Class D-A & Trying out some new classes for future races.

Practice: This evening?
I may setup some practice races tonight as well; my wife just announced she's going out to dinner with friends so I'm free for a change on a Saturday!

I'd like to practice good passing etiquette which is something I wasn't even aware of until recently.

So I leaned that the car in front of you has the right-of-way so when approaching a coner, he selects his driving line, the guy behind should not interfere with this line by cutting him off on the turn. When the guy behind moves in for the clean pass, the lead driver needs to allow the guy behind him to pass without being blocked or break-checked.

Also this is not a rule, merely a suggestion to work on.

NEW CLASSES
Also I've come up with two new classes I'd like to try.

I will probably be able to run tonight, company cancelled. Akira you are gonna break my bank with all these new classes hahahah

I do have one MAJOR issue with this league and you guys! Every since I joined up I have been stalled on level 28 because you guys are consuming soo much of my gaming time! The way I see it I may never get any further in single player due to the amount of fun I am having racing here.

Now I gotta get the boy off the ps3 so I can by some cars.

We'll this wont start officially until after a class A-D winner has been announced.
I will donate appropriate tuned cars for these classes to the top 3 winners, so you may get one for free!

The classes are intended to use cars that GT5 didn't really provide a "reason" for.

I just wanted to put something down so everyone can start getting a few cars together for Rally races. I came up with two classes of rally cars based on the available cars. It might be interesting to add a class for production cars but not sure where to set HP or weight.

Rally Classes

WRC – this should cover all cars 1995 to present except the Lancer Evo VI which for some reason has over 400 HP.

Min Weight 1200
Max HP 335 (allows for an oil change of these UCD cars, would change the citroen C4 though)

Examples:
Ford Focus RS WRC 07 ‘08 309HP/ 1230kg
Peugeot 206 Rally Car ’99 299HP/ 1230kg
Suzuki SX4 WRC ’08 315HP/ 1230kg
Toyota Celica GT-Four Rally Car ’95 294HP/ 1200kg
Citroen C4 WRC ’08 331HP / 1230kg

Super Rally Class

Min Weight 825
Max HP 550 (though I’m open to suggestions of going higher)
This is wide open to anything that can take dirt tires

Examples:
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evo 2 Rally Car 449HP 910kg
Mitsubishi Lance Evo IV Rally Car 97 409HP/ 1230kg
Lancia Stratos Rally Car ’77 HP 264/ 880kg

I have a fair number of these rally cars so if you're stuck looking for something and the UCD isn't complying PM me and I'll see if I can help.

Ok

Bought a fireblade and an Elise for the future race classes. Anyone getting on tonight? I should be on by about 915 to 930ish est.

I too love this league.

Here is something important that I learned from today short noon practice (short for me, anyway)
We all know that the car/driver in front (leading) has the right of way. But when the driver lose control and spins out of the course he loses the advantage! I notice today (from both ends) that your instincts are to try to get back to your driving line as soon as possible, yet by rules you have to let all other drivers to pass safely.
this is something that does not happen a often IRL but happens routinely in our races.
Add the fact that by nature of the game there are big 'blind spots' on both sides of the car and this can lead to many accidents.

I put up a new thread in the social group for all the car classes to keep them from getting buried. Take a look and let me know if I've missed anything that's been run so far as I haven't been at all the practices.

Just realized I start training after work on mondays this week so won't be able to make it probably tomorrow which is sad because I had my stuff pretty much together. Will try to see where things are when I get home but probably not getting home until 8:30CST on mondays for weeks.

Grumblecat, you can always jump into the middle of the races and compete even if you are a little late. You may only catch one or two races, but that's better than none.

Great fun was had yesterday. A wide variety of races on different tracks, plenty of opportunity to fine tune cars of all classes, with some karting and rally thrown into the mix!

Another day at work when i would rather be at home fine tunning my cars for tonights races.. Great practice yesterday. Cant wait until tonight to see how those cars do.
