BTW, new pictures are up on the S.o.S. Touge Photo thread!! check 'em out

@Solidsnake,

Can i get you to help as a photgrapher? I want to get a GT5 photomode photo for Shigegaki to do up a banner for LotS.
I want it to feature Takumi's AE86, Keisuke's FD3S.

Anyone up for a friendly battle? I won't be using my registered car, so the race won't count.

I tend to drive different cars when not battling as well. That's the joy of it. Get to know how different cars would perform and stuff. Come and see my real car replica as well! It doesn't handle very well and doesn't have much modifications, but it's true to it's real life counterpart!

One fixed car concept is really for the driver to figure out ways to improve their driving skills instead of just getting into a better car to win.

GN+
Most supercars already go over the 500pp.

I just thought of something interesting... haha... I might get a few people to test it out. Anyone interested in testing this idea out?

Want to run a lap or two if you aren't busy?

EDIT - My lounge is up.

Actually would be cool to get a few people in here and take some photos :D

Weekend's almost here.... I smell lots of blood.... haha... I'll start from the bottom of the list and work my way up!

Hopefully not too much of the blood is mine!

So I'd like to bring to attention some uncertainty regarding the rules of touge racing: today I discovered that there was no real consensus in the touge community over whether or not a crash was an automatic loss. There doesn't seem to be an official policy regarding this in the opening thread.

I think I am in the minority here, but I think that the instant someone crashes or spins out, then they have automatically lost the race regardless of position or gap. This does not apply in a two-person crash, in which case I would say that whoever caused the crash automatically forfeits the race. Most people here probably disagree with this, for reasons that I am not sure of.

In addition, there is no consensus over how many "wins" one needs to achieve to win one "battle". Does a battle consist of three rounds, or does the driver only need to take one victory to win the entire battle?

I don't think it would work very well for the points system if these things were left for the rivals to decide, as I think they change the fundamental gameplay too significantly for the leaderboard to have any real meaning.

interesting comments, I'll let the rest voice their thoughts first before raising mine. Especially the crashing part. But I'll share the progress of the 1/2 half of comments:

For Grip Gambler, it's straight forward, first person to the goal wins. Period.

For the 3 Lap Cat and Mouse battle style:

On the first lap,
The person in the front (Leader) must maintain his lead until the end goal. If the leader gets overtaken and couldn't regain back his leading position, he will lose and the battle is decided in the first lap.

The person in the back (Chaser) must maintain a certain gap behind the leader until the end goal. The gap is not set yet, but if he is too far behind, he will lose. Obviously anything over 10 seconds is too far already. The battle will end if the Chaser can't keep up and the battle is decided in the first lap.

On the second lap,
In the case where the Leader has maintained his lead and the chaser can keep up, the positions will switch. And the battle will repeat itself with the same conditions.

On the third lap,
This is the recommended scenario, the race will repeat itself like the first lap, only that the "GAP" between the two cars in the end will decide the winner. The GAP on the third lap is tighter than the first lap. The GAP stilll needs to be tested. I haven't have enough runs yet to know how much GAP should be used.

For example, if the GAP is 3 seconds. The GAP system requires an appointed checkpoint to be the ending point, where the GAP between the two drivers will be displayed. (Thus why we only can have 2 players on the map at a time).
If the GAP between the Leader and Chaser is over 3 seconds, the Leader wins.
If the GAP between the Chaser and Leader is under 3 seconds, the Chaser wins.

I don't think it would work very well for the points system if these things were left for the rivals to decide, as I think they change the fundamental gameplay too significantly for the leaderboard to have any real meaning.

Currently the calculations of points just take into account who wins and PP difference and driver level difference. It doesn't take into account home courses and battle style. Therefore the only thing needed to calculate points at the moment is who is the winner, since the PP and Levels of drivers are already collected when they registered the car. Yes the system is flawed, but I'll like to get some people on board once LotS can sustain itself.

Regarding if someone crashes i think than the reace should be over and the one that crashed looses. As when you crash in real life you trash your car in the best case and in the worst - well you know what i mean.
So yeah i think as well that the race should be fortefeit after a crash.

Regarding the battle system - i think you cannot clearly define as how many rounds a battle lasts - if you chase in the first round and you are left behind than you loose - if not than you switch places - when you cannot widen the gap than you loose and so on and on - till someone wins.

What vasho has described above is what I called "Sudden Death Cat & Mouse".

The main difference is that the 3 Lap Cat & Mouse's winner will be decided within 3 laps where as the sudden death one is indefinite.

On a Side NOTE:

Another good plus I figured out is to have your battles publicly, in a LotS room. If you have people who are from LotS as well, they can be the judges to make the call to see who is at fault in case of a crash.

This worked really well so far. I have been hosting matches for the LotS participants and it's fun to see them duke it out. The most important thing is to listen to the host's instructions.

You probably will get random people popping in, but that's an opportunity to ask them to "check out Legend of the Streets on gtplanet.net". And if a battle is going to happen, ask them to get into the lobby, if not Kick them. I noticed that once you started the race, you can't kick anyone, so kick first before you start the race.

Alright, meet me in my lounge. For some reason, it failed to make a room.

You should be able to choose it, since that is how Emilio was able to when we raced last night.

Heh guys please use private messages - dont spam the thread with 1 sentence posts. Otherwise it will get hard for Timber to keep this organized.

Thx

Shigegaki
Well you did ask if it was in a private game, I have to go to work soon. Are you almost ready to join?
