Which of you LotS regulars use wheel controllers? I'll be buying a wheel in late March or mid-April. I'll have around $800USD to spend on a wheel and either a rig or stand for the wheel. I'm definitely going with a fanatec wheel. Either CSR or GT3RS, do any of y'all know if the performance gap is large enough to warrant buying the CSR? Also, though the US site doesn't have the Clubsport Pedals available I'll have to settle for the CSR Elite pedals.

Also... what is an affordable rig to mount that i can buy and wont cost me an arm and a leg? The VisionRacer is ridiculously sexy but the rig alone nearly exceeds my budget. I hear the RSeat and Playseat options are more affordable but I'm not too adamant about playseats because of that awkward bar that stands between my legs, seems like it would be cumbersome for badass shifting techniques.

any thoughts? i'm the type of person that does ridiculous amount of research before many ANY purchase in order to make an educated and informed decision. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated :)

Also... Thrustmaster T500RS... is it really all it's hyped up to be?

I wish i could help you out on this one. But i probably cant.

I only have a Logitech Driving Force GT and a Wheel Stand Pro. I wanted to buy a rig but due to the place it takes away my future wife would torture me to death.
But i am very satisfied with the wheel stand pro. It does its job very good and when you need to remove it - its gone in a matter of seconds. Just fold it up and store it somewhere where the women cant see it 👍

And btw. i am as well a person to check everything out before a purchase. Well i hope you will find the wheel and the rig you are searching for as its quite an investment.
Looking forward to race you when you have that bad ass setup of yours 👍👍

To answer your questions, I use a Logitech G25 wheel I got for the equivalent of $250 in a sale online as its my favourite due to personal taste. My 'rig' is the most basic of basic rigs as the wheel and shifter are only fixed to a table as I as well have pondered about Playseats.

For Fanatec wheels I would probably suggest going for the CSR Elite wheel but the best bet would be to look at the Fanatec website itself and compare them as I did the same when looking at the G25 and DFGT wheels.

Finally I personally think that the T500RS is a bit overhyped and was far too expensive when it was first released.

Damn, I need a wheel too, I've been wanting a G27 forever. Anyone have that wheel?

We should start the Initial D challenge signup early so people can start tuning the car they end up with beforehand

Hi guys! Not sure if anyone remembers me but I was a part of the first core season. Did horrible.... Anyway, I have refound my GT5 hunger and will be coming back to LotS!! Just thought I'd stop by and say HI! This Initial D things sounds fun btw...

I'll be in my private lounge tuning and running my latest touge tracks. Feel free to join, anyone that's on my friends list already.. which is full, so i should be deleting people later

Yea, my wheel is strapped on a (unstable, lol) table. Not that fun but at least I have the wheel haha 👍

haha! something's always better than nothing... Last time i had a wheel setup of any sorts was way back in the Gran Turismo 3 days! I had some cheap lotus branded wheel, but i loved it.

I looked into the Thrustmaster T500 RS and compared to the Fanatec CSR XL Bundle it's farmore xpensive and you don't even get an H-pattern shifter.. which costs about $180 more! And the CSR Elite pedals have load cell braking which the T500 doesn't have.. which is quite baffling considering that it costs nearly $600 compared to the Fanatec's $360 for the XL package which includes CSR wheel-base, CSR Elite pedals and CSR chifter set (H-pattern + sequential).. it's too good of a deal to pass up

Hey guys would appreciate if you checked out the RedSuns Tuning Co thread. I've put up a few Initial D inspired touge tunes and will continue to be adding more through the week in preparation for the Initial D challenge. Would be nice to get some feeback either positive or negative, Thanks. 👍

    SRF = Off
    Driving Line = Off
    Active Steering = Off
    TSC = Optional
    ASM = Optional
    ABS = Optional
  2. Start Race.

When starting race, the first lap will be your warm up lap, and have 3 next laps to set a best lap. It is set at 4 Laps to allow you to set a lap when your tyres are in their top form. Because 1st lap, it'll be a standing start, so you won't get the best lap. You can also use the opportunity in the first lap to warm up your tyres. So second lap and third lap is your best bet on setting a best lap. 4th lap is just a buffer for you to take down your best time and take the photo for time verification.

Leave a reasonable gap between you and your rivals to prevent rivals from using the draft to shortern their lap times. If you "CRASH", park at the side of the road where you won't get in the way of other players. Don't leave the room as it will cause some lag spike.

    OR

NEW WAY OF LOGGING THE TIME ATTACK MODE: You can do your lap during the free run. The host must 'start' the race once to allow for the Watch Race/Race Details to log the player's time. Once a player has logged a time, he can ask the host or any other LotS player to verify the time in the room by going into the Watch Race/Race Details.
  3. Recording your time and submitting results:
    Just use the form below.
  4. Repeat Time Attack
You can repeat the time attack just as long as you meet the requirements above.

Nice mate!! I'm sure most people would appreciate it due to the fact of different driving styles or taste in handling.

I'll be back and running in April =/, but I will look forward to see your taste in handling! Vacaseg6's STI had to be driven in a rally configuration which made it interesting when I drove it :)

Hey TimberW; after doing some reading here; it seems to me that you guys have VERY WELL organized this series.:dopey:👍 Because such great organization; I am very keen to enter in the hope of finding some great Mountain pass battles!

Also...I would like to know how fast you guys are?
I hope to see a LotS room very soon.
By the way; I have a Touge track that I think you will really like!:D

First of all, thanks for the compliment on this little Series we're running here :D

And if you want to know how fast we are, I can set up a room if you want.
I'm the slowest one of the regulars by far currently because of my broken left thumb, which leaves me steering and changing gears with one thumb.
(Right stick=Steering, Square=Gear Up, X=Gear Down.)

How about 24th, 4:00PM GMT+2? That' should be around 10:00PM for you.

It's been a **** Yeah kinda day though, did a lot of B-Spec grinding ont hat 650PP seasonal and am about to get my first 20M Cr. car!!

So.. the Jaguar is one sexy beast, but I'm gearing more towards the Ferrari.. the Ford is nice too but idk... tough choice!!

you want me to put my jag on share for you to try snake?

Heres my idea for a side challenge that i've been thinking would be good fun for a while but not told anyone about it.

Initial D Recreation season

The Idea for this would be each player would register their name but have their car chosen at random. The cars used would be from the teams seen in Initial D anime.

There is 38 cars that could be used according to the Initial D wiki With some exceptions as certain model variations arn't available in the game, three I can think of now are:

Itsuki Takeuchi and his AE85 The AE86 Levin would have to used to replace this I guess
Atsuro Kawai and his Skyline GT-T 2.5 Turbo(ER34) The Skyline GTS25 Type S (R32) '91 could be used as a replacement or any rear wheel drive R32
Shinji Inui and his Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX Coupe The AE86 Trueno would have to be used

If you spot more please tell me so I can fix it.

On average there has been 39.5 unique players from all 4 core seasons, but not everyone who registers actualy joins to battle, but side seasons generaly have less players registering, if more people register than the number of cars available I guess they will have to use duplicates or we could have a cut off date for registrations once 38 players is reached.

The way each player is given their car is once they register they are asigned a random number between 1 and 38 using a random number generator like the one here.

Here is the list of cars with their asinged numbers, below each car in red will be the in game version you must use.

Hopefully I havn't missed out any cars from the wiki, if I have please tell me.

An example would be I register and the number I am randomly given by the generator is 23. I now have to use that car, I can't change cars once I have been given it, I'm stuck with it for the whole season.

I would expect people to try and colour match their car as close as possible to the anime counterpart. Wheels obviously wont be exactly the same. I would also expect people to tune their cars as close as possible to the anime counterpart, but as there is no way to check or enforce what parts people use there's nothing stoping you from putting a turbo on Takumi's AE86 for example as long as it comes under the max PP limit.

The usual LotS regulations would apply:
Sports Hard tyres only
95-100% power limiter use
5% of total car weight can be used as ballast
No Fully customizable transmission

The only thing different would be a max performance points of 480PP this is to try and allow cars like the cappuccino and other low power cars to have a better chance at competing. I havn't checked if all cars fall under 480pp at stock specs but I think they all do. All cars/drivers would be one class, no class A, B or C etc.

Let me know what you think of it, evan if you hate the idea still let me know. Some things might have to be changed to get it to work right as this is still just an idea, nothing as been tested to see if this would work as planed.

Sorry for the big post, and I don't mind if this isn't what you had in mind to replace the PP ballance testing, but I hope its something you may consider for a future side season.

only problem i see is the pp limit, some of the later stages like ryosuke vs rin hojo, well rin's r32 was 700+hp and keisukes fd after purple shadow is way modded.

True, but if we use the offical tuning specs for each car then it wont be a fair competition, the idea of the 480pp limit is that if you end up with the cappuccino, AE86 or an MX5 you will have a chance to compete with the higher performance cars, and like I said before, if we had solely downhill courses not just "sections" we could allow people to run more HP in the more heavily tuned cars as the light weight low power cars would have a chance to use their handling agility to keep up. With the way Toscana / Eifle tracks are there is too many flat and uphill sections for a low power car to use it's cornering advantage.

My main idea of this challenge was to mix up the usual way we run things, with the car choice being random, top level drivers can't just pick he best car and wipe away the rest of the rivals. Of course there is a chance top level drivers may get one of the higher perfomance cars available but thats just something that can't be avoided.

It'll probably be PP/ HP Limit Free, but the tires and cars have to be restricted. I do study the Initial D Cars for there custom parts, so it shouldn't be hard for me to find out what they have installed.

i vote for this, yes there will be descrepencies in power but uber initial d realism would be fun, even if i get itsuki's 85, it seems more for fun than competition.

I might not be able to make it, because I forgot today is my country's Independence Day and I got guests coming over on a last minute warning.
But I'll try to come.

Ok no worries I understand. I can't wait to catch up with you boys...I feel my tuning concept will be very effective on the Touge!:mischievous:👍

Want to put my 2 cents into the wheel discussion. I own a G25 with my DIY nixum modded brake and clutch pedals which performs the best for the $200-$250 price range. G27 could be modded the same the trade offs between them are the G27 is reported to be reasonably quieter than the G25 but the G25 has selectable shift lever between H-gate and sequential while the G27 lever can only be used as H-gate.

Now when it comes to fanatec it all depends on what your demands are for a wheel. Here is a link to the comparison spread sheet on the fanatec website: http://www.fanatec.de/html/pw_overview.htm For me the best combo would be the GT3 RS wheel and clubsport pedals. You would have to make your own decision but I would suggest spending the premium for the pedals they are what really makes a setup excel. If you don't get clubsport pedals you should be aware that the logitech G25/27 pedals would be better than the standard fanatec pedals. This is why I think their wheels have compatibility to plug in the logitech pedals the bonus is if you already have G25/27 pedals then you can use them until you decide to spring for clubsports.

Room up in 5. Look for "LOTS Practice"

Non-Time Attack and Open to all classes

I do not want it to be open pp/hp, 480pp is good as some of the cars on the list barely reach it.
