Simple solution. Ban AWD.

Advantage of AWD= Exit speed out of corners.
Disadvantage of AWD= Entry speeds with huge understeer.

Advantage of FR= Turn in speed.
Disadvantage of FR= Oversteer on exit.

I wont be using the WRX next season. I feel like the WRX does have an advantage as it takes a lot of over drive to get it to break traction. It just has so much grip that its not funny. When ever im racing with it and fallowing someone i can see just how much more grip i have. But then again is that down to the car or the other drivers driving and tuning skill?

Anyway i think banning the AWD is the way to go.

Comments: In the beginning xXHaanibaalXx was applying the pressure from the rear, but when turn 4 came up to brake hard he must have caught too much draft and put him in the dirt. There after it was a matter for me to hold a 2 second lead. I ended with a 2.997 second lead for the win.

Addition Comments: xXHaanibaalXx, if you had managed to stay behind me I probably would have messed up somewhere because I'm still not used to the wheel and setting up the car properly. Best of luck to you next time 👍

as much as i love subaru and many 4wds and want to disagree with monstar, if hes retiring his 4wd beast then. as long as it drops the pp for better control over fr's and possibly bringing ff's into the picture. ill would say yes to the proposal it introduces new cars and that could be fun i prefer lower pp cars anyway so

I was quite confident about this one because it was on Ushimine and I was looking forward to it but in the end I didn't even get to race. For some reason my tires locked up when I braked for the second corner and I crashed into the wall, I still have absolutely no idea what happened. I had some pretty severe damage so I couldn't keep up. Oh well...

Best bet to probably split drivetrain classes.

The reason why your WRX is so fast is because of it's short wheelbase, along with a decent tune any short wheelbase car will turn well.

There's only 1 down side for splitting the classes and that is we won't be able to battle each other. It would become 2 separate comps.

What are you saying?? That im a shxt driver?? lol

I'd prefer dropping PP for 4wd or at least limiting tires a bit, the point is, 300bhp+ is too much for sports hard without great throttle control, having it go through 4 wheels is more controllable.

I'm very against splitting the classes, theres only a limited base of players as it is, splitting it in half will more than likely kill off 4wd cars anyway.

Maybe after this season do a few events of FR vs 4WD (and vs FF?) and really play around with the PP values to find a good fair amount for each type

Does anyone have any tips for me on how to improve the suspension setup on my Civic to improve front end grip without increasing the PP level? I only have height adjustable sports suspension, no fully customisable limited slip diff and stock gearbox. I tried a different setup in my battle with HKS but clearly more work needs to be done.

I can play around with a civic and help you out when ever i get online

Ban AWD??? Woow thats harsh. This whole conversation turned out about hating the AWD.
All cars have advantages and disadvantages.
I just hope that this will not end in banning the AWD because its just like whining that someone cannot compete against AWD - so lets ban the AWD. I cannot compete against AWD so we have to ban the AWD.
Just think about this. Its just stupid.
And even that the restrictions for AWD should be different than for FRs. Are you serious about this?? Why should they have an disadvantage.
Just because you cannot win against an AWD???
Each of us should have to choose the car he wants.
This is not an FR competition.
Or lets ban the NSX and Lotus Elise - as these cars have won the GTTC.
Lets say that in the 2nd Season the top players will be driving NSX or an Lotus Elise. Than we ban those as well????

The PP should be on a same level for each car. Its like trying to find an excuse for that you cannot drive an FR against an AWD.

I agree

I agree with this in a way of what i know about this debate

PP is just effectively weight to power ratio with slight weighting depending on drive train and aero from my experience, the reason I say adjust PP number is because they are not perfect. I want it to be as open as possible, but if theres 30 drivers, and the top 10 is just subaru's, then we need to look into the possibility that the car may be at an advantage.

Key word here being "possibility". I just don't want next season being half as big down to people saying "4WD is unfair, i quit". Even though I don't agree with that statement.

Had this exact same problem in another racing game, its just down to driving style, you can dump your foot in half way round a turn in a 4WD and come out the end most of the time, do that in an FR and you'll spin/oversteer heavily, especially on sports hards, its down to driver control. However, the 4WD does feel like an easier car to drive, its just the nature of 4WD.

Go look at what the aussies did when the R32 Skyline appeared ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathurst_1000

Basically the Skyline won everything, so they created a new "class" and so:

"This class banned turbocharging along with four-wheel-drive, and effectively banned Nissan's GT-R from competition. Almost immediately, Nissan pulled out of Australian motorsport."

MONSTAR-1
There's only 1 down side for splitting the classes and that is we won't be able to battle each other. It would become 2 separate comps.

+1 to this point, although people from different classes can go against one another, the win can almost automatically be determined by the sheer difference in PP.

And it's too early to split Legend of the Streets into 2 different competitions.

One way to really lay this to rest is letting the leaders of this leaderboard (if they are up to the challenge) to use a different drivetrain and still prove that they can be in the top ranking. If someone can prove that, this all will be laid down to rest. =)

To be honest this whole arguement over drivetrain selection is starting to make me fell like dropping out of this all together as its not about what you drive, it's how you drive and tune it.

Leaderboard Updated to Post: 1594

lol, a couple of pages without any results posting. haha...

Anyways, just to make things clear.

1. I will not ban any drivetrains in the CORE series.

Everyone if free to choose what they want to drive as long as they meet the regulation.

2. I will be using the SIDE series to be more fun/experimental which may be used to improve the CORE series.

This argument/debate about tyre restrictions and drivetrain selection is just descending into nonsense in my opinion and it needs to stop. But i agree with Shadow on it mainly being down to skill and tuning expertise.

Yeah i feel somehow the same.

There will be always a type of car that will be better then the other one. May it be MR against FR against AWD.
So basically to ban all drivtrains just because they have advantage against FR is what will happen.
Hmm than why not ban FRs and MRs and drive just AWD?? Could be one way to do it. But no wait - maybe you do not like to drive AWD and you will feel somehow offended and not like the fact that your belowed FR drivtrain will be banned.
Heck this is just not what its started out to be.

You know, all this opinion of these drivetrains, it's not good for new players and existing players. Like what Shadow said, the more this is brought up, it takes the joy out of enjoying this series.

So it'll be good if you guys can put down your differences for a while and enjoy the game.

I have read all your comments and it's nothing new. I know that these things will crop up sooner or later.

anyway look at the top ten cars..... 3 ARE 4WD and only 2 of them are Subaru's.
Then take a look at the rest...... Mostly FD3S's and NSX-R's

The long term plan to LotS is to have 3 types of 'game modes'

i) CORE Series
- This will be the main series where players can race competatively.

ii) SIDE Series
- This is where I get to throw in interesting stuff to keep things interesting and different.
- Also a good place for me to experiment different restrictions
- Also allows me to let other features/cars of the game to get more spotlight and exposure

iii) Time Attack Week
- Self explanatory

AGREED STRONGLY....... Can we squash this until after Season 1 is over please

More Rivals have signed up....

Interesting to see that Rear wheel drive takes up almost 3/4 of the pie chart. and 4WD 1/4 of the chart.

One thing I'll like to say that I'm not happy with is.... PSN can only have 100 Friends!?!?

LotS Thread Competition:
I'm looking to feature different awards for Season 1 and for the Future of LotS.
Post your suggested award in this thread and it may be used for LotS in the future.
Currently there is only one award:
Legend of the Streets

And one additonal award for Season 1 is:
Most Creative Award Award<- This is from TimberW

I have an idea for a 'best rookie' award for drivers who have joined LotS with very little or no experience in touge racing

This series has been the most fun i've had with GT5 yet, wouldn't wanna see that destroyed. I think regulations are fine as is, let's forget about that and let Timber sort it out in time for the next Season

so go out there and race!
but most importantly, do NOT forget to chillax and have fun :)
