Oops my bad guys! The WRC 555 plate is a fake given to me by a buddy of mine. It's not even the correct size (slightly smaller than the real thing). I have it displayed in my garage, not on my car these days.

Some guy in my town actually has "WRC-555" on his plate. And I've checked my state's custom plate site, "WRC" is available and so is "SWRT-04". When I renew my plates I think I'll get a custom one.

Oh, totally had us fooled! ;)

So I have the iPad now. I have power for it and it is synced to the head unit, I just need time to work out how to put it in and do so. The center console is actually smaller than the ipad, so this will be interesting!

Well it's in! It can be made a little more flush but for now it will suffice. The top screws used to be covered by cup holders so something needs to be done about them .

It all seems to be working, it synced up to the headunit and itunes wifi sync nicely and it's getting power. The charger however appears to be an iphone car charger (came with the iPad) and therefore is only a 1 amp charger, iPad's use 2 amp chargers. So the iPad states that it isn't charging but research shows that it is charging really slowly.

How do you reach the home button? Either I'm not seeing something obvious, or it's hidden by your fascia

The little circle in the bottom right of the iPad screen is the on screen home button. You can lock the iPad/ press home/ do whatever from that button. That's just part of the ios software too, no extra app or anything.

The screen turns on automatically when it senses power (car on) so that's how it turns on.

How do you return from an app? I've always believed that the home button was the way to do that, hence why I was implying that it needed to be tangible/visible...?

Otherwise, I'm a Blackberry guy (see also: my nationality) so I tend to be clueless about iPads.

No, you don't see Canadian flag with "Great Brown North" beside it?

I'm Canadian. ||||$ ||| or nothing.

You realize RIM is a failing company and their products have been irrelevant for the past few years, aside from maybe a few business networks that have yet to move on? And implying you're "money" when you've been lamenting how you have the "wrong" racing suit and had to settle for an automatic Impreza is just comical.

It's visible, on the screen.

The "money" bit is just the closest thing I can find to my flag that I can type. Don't pester. This is Legendary's thread, I don't think he appreciates all of this off-topic banter about RIM's coming success.

You're right. Next time if you cannot answer an Apple question because you are RIM user, don't answer an Apple question, because you are a RIM user.

Back on topic everyone please.

Okay. But, that's why I asked the question, for clarification. It was my question that was looking to be answered... 💡

The question had been answered before you even asked it.

@ Legendary Did the centre console fascia require much modding or do the iPad fit nicely as it was?

Ah, another use for that feature. My friend has that little dot because the home button is broken.

Does that iPad have 3/4G? Or do you live without internet, and only sync at home?
Nah I have no need for it to have internet on the go when I have a phone and all. It just syncs when I park the car up out the front of the house and hit sync, it's a bit of a pita but what can you do .

The actual face plate type thing (the part which is attached to the screws at the top) didn't need any changes at all. The plastic inside the center console itself needed the use of a dremel at the top and buttom to make room for the extra bits of iPad that wouldn't fit. So the iPad slid up behind the console, and then back down into the gap we mate for it at the bottom and sits really snugly with no brackets or anything 👍.

And it's a nice one. :) I wish I could have rims like that (not allowed in autocross rules.)
Like Punknoodle said, put different rims on for Autocross, that way you get a choice of tyre as well and won't be abusing your everyday tyres.

Awesome, looks good!

Now all you have to do is crash it again.
What is your obsession with my car and it's accident history? You make it out like they were my fault and it's starting to annoy me mate.

You must have quite the race car.

And I like the iPad in the dash, I saw the pics pop up on Facespace after you did it and I've been meaning to say something. I've been toying with the idea of doing something similar in the Neon.

Just screwing with you, I don't actually mean it. I completely understand they weren't your fault, but then again, neither were my brother's and we give him hell over them constantly. It'd probably help if he fixed the damn bumpers, but that's another story.

All in all, just teasing you, I know you're not a bad driver, but I'm trying to make it seem like I expect the universe is out for your car. Which it probably is, because you've got a pretty cool little motor there.

Since when does changing wheels require changing the springs?

 If I wanted to change wheels, that would be an aesthetic change. If I did any more aesthetic changes to my car, I'd also lower it, to complete the look.

Oh thank you, I forgot I had you on Facebook :P.

Yeah, but that would also involve changing springs. I would lower it a bit... If I wanted to make my car nicer-looking.

.....speechless.

You do realise that if you do want to change springs for the purpose of new wheels that you can keep them on even if you reverted back to the old wheels for track events? There is no need to change them every time you change the wheels. It could possibly even handle better with a lower CoG.

Ahh right...thanks.
