So there's been alot of :censored:ing around with springs. Twice, i've had the wrong set of rear springs arrive from two different people. So just yesterday when my mate goes to fit the rears he discovers they weren't correct but did the front anyway. At the moment it already sits SO much nicer, all it needs is for the back to come down just a touch. So instead of mucking around with trying to get rear superlows again I am just going to have the lows that I have installed on the rear instead. So it wont be tucking under the guard but it will pretty much be in line with the front or a tad lower.

Anyway here it is as it sits now and how it was before, looks miles better:

Well apparently that's the rears lowered on lows but its not a noticeable difference. The shocks are better at least. With that all over, im done with the car and ready to soon pass it on to someone else for bigger and better things :).

Oh and I have new plates now having moved states, they saw 'aww' which is cool.

You should go to a wrecker and try and find a replacement centre console for the one that's been hacked up to fit the iPad, it will be more attractive to someone buying it

Gonna be sad to see this go!

Mine's right at the end of where I want it to be as well, unfortunately. Going to spend the next few months fixing the stuff that needs fixing and then I'm moving to newer, probably RWD pastures.

Not really fussed Nick, the fact is someone my age or some asian student is going to buy the car and they really aren't going to care.

It feels like you havent had yours all that long Murcie but I think you've had it just as long, im surprised you're almost done with it!

I'm at almost 10 months of ownership now, the 28th of July is our one year anniversary :sly: I've set my sights on an early November switchover so I still have some precious time to spend with it.

SIC EM is definitely not the last Scooby I'll be owning though, just want to go all out while I'm still young and I can afford to do it :) Give it a couple of years and I'll probably be back into the Pleiades.

So over the last few months its been a really difficult toss up between two cars as to which I will buy in a month or two. Those two cars are the R33 GTS-T and the blob eye WRX.

There is a difference in price, 33 can be had for 9ish give or take some and the wrx is around a minimum of 13.The WRX is becoming the clearer option the more I think about it, its properly legal for me to drive, modern, safe and will be a definite keeper for years to come (please quote me on this when I buy a new car in 1.5 years time).

SPhilli from this forum has always been the driving force behind this particular car and model, take a look at this:

I dont get a smile on my face walking out and seeing my car anymore, I just don't understand how I could possibly lose love for something as perfect as the above. In my eyes that car = absolute perfection. So I am seriously considering doing the same kind of thing myself, but a regular wrx and not an STI. There is plenty of room for improvement both aesthetically and internally, and it's definitely not difficult to find a stock one to work on from scratch which is what I'd really like to do. I don't think i'll ever be a fan of purchasing a built car.

So that's where I am at, looking at this move somewhere around the end of July. Please offer any input :).

Do it. But for the love of god, don't put an iPad in the centre console lol.

If you want another 4WD it seems that you have definitely made up your mind. I think the GT-Four and I may part ways at some point and I don't think I'll be getting another 4WD, unless I get an Evo IX. I love the handling and grip but I think I'd like to get in to going sideways a bit more.

Stick with the Scoobs man. But, how much longer are you on P's for? Have you had your license transferred from QLD to SA? Forgive me if that's a silly question but I would imagine that's what would happen when you move states?

If you fell out of love with your current car why go for another Subaru?

Or did you fall out of love with your car because you modified it?

Part of it sounds like I did because you're getting bored with your car as its your first car. Good things come to those who wait, instead of buying something now because you are bored wait for longer you can get something better, and because you'll be older the insurance will no don't be cheaper.

Nah thats a been there done that kind of thing .

Yeah, I was considering Stagea's too but meh, if it's AWD its going to be a Subaru. See, I wanted to get into going sideways too but in reality it's just going to get me into trouble.

It's a bit weird, on my QLD License I would be on P's for two more years but if I transfer it here I would be on for one more year. However if I transfer here I can't drive a turbo at all. Whereas if I keep it in qld I will just buy a wrx and get the exemption (pretty much guaranteed) and more than likely keep it till I am on my opens.

You're supposed to transfer within 3 months of moving but it all gets a bit iffy, they just pull me over to check that I have a license (qld license doesnt show up on SA plates) and recommend that if I am staying I have it transferred to avoid hassle in the future.

It's not the manufacturer, it's what it is. It quite literally must have 35kw atw now. What I need is to step up, next step would be a WRX with subaru's. Maybe my little impreza can be viewed as training wheels .

As for insurance I am under my mum's policy until I am older so that when I start my own policy it will be a bit cheaper than if I started now.

Why stick with Subaru if its going to be AWD? i see you mention a GTST..

have you test driven an AWD Skyline? perhaps even a GTR?
Trust me, it drives great! RWD when you dont need the front wheels to be driven, and more power will be send to the front wheels if you do need it. on the edge it might oversteer a bit instead of understeering like most awd cars,it works very well and can handle alot of power! RB's run very smooth too and sound amazing.

why not wait a bit and consider something like a gtr?

GT-Rs and Evos aren't P-Plate legal in any state of Australia with the P-Plate restrictions. If only we were in the Northern Territory or Western Australia. "Waiting a bit" will take a much longer time than a couple of months. ;)

Fair enough, just be warned that you may be pulled over quite a bit for an exemption check. I've seen quite a few P-Platers with V8 Commodores (exempted as they use it for work) that still get pulled by the coppers several times a week to check they have the necessary paperwork, and those with naturally aspirated Skylines get pulled because the copper reckons they're turbo'd.

Perhaps replace the WRX badge with an RX badge. :sly:

That is correct, waiting a bit would be about 2 years and i'd rather commit suicide than be forced to drive this for another 2 years :P

Yeah it's alright, i'm aware :P. I might just debadge that part of it anyway, more for looks than anything as the bonnet scoop is a rather dead give away!

So within the last day or so I have noticed that while reversing the usual gear whine sound of the straight cut gears is about 5 or more times louder than normal. When I put the window down it is so loud that people 10-15m away would most definitely hear it.

The other day I had driven rather quickly in reverse, possibly up to 4krpm (rev limit 6.5k). I own a Subaru Impreza as some of you may know. I am not really sure what the cause of this sound is but in order for it to happen I need to be pressing the clutch in. Off clutch its okay, you get the usual exhaust noise instead but the second the clutch goes in it gets replaced by absolutely horrible whining.

Does anyone have any idea whatsoever as to what this may mean? Im looking to sell the car within a month or two so this is a bit of a pain :P.

And just as a side note to mods, this isn't in my thread because I need more exposure for the question.

Please post help in this thread or the other one :).

Maybe it's the syncro ring... if it's the case let it check out or fixed before the gear itself gets damaged.
Just a hypothesis from what I read...

Whine noises are normal when in reverse.
I said its louder than the usual gear whine in the first sentence.

What makes you believe that? I dont really have much of an idea as to what it is so any explanation is useful :).

^Cause you said it makes the noise on the clutch in and that the clutch is okay. The gear itself is okay too.
That takes the clutch out and the gear itself.
Does it makes any noise or is it harder to get it in reverse than before?

It could also come from the flywheel but it would than be wierd that you have nothing in the other gears.

It's just my take, it's hard to say it without hearing it. Maybe make a vid of it...
