The new Creator 3-in-1 sets look great, obviously I'm a little disappointed the plane is tiny but all three builds look good. Can't see myself buying three copies but I would like to recolour the other two. The panda family, flamingo and space robot might also end up in our collection, maybe.

It's been a while since I bought any Lego for myself but my son's collection is growing... And shrinking as he loses pieces again. I have tried to keep it safe as we play but his mum just doesn't pay as much attention as I do so things just go missing, nothing too expensive that Bricklink can't help with though so whatever!

Hi, I will introduce myself to this thread with my latest Lego purchase (Christmas gift to myself):

Lego MP4-4 stage 1.jpg
Lego MP4-4 stage 2.jpg

A slight mistake here, I had to retrace and rebuild the left intake. Too bad we can't put a half-torso and a head/helmet to scale, but I understand the darker implications.

It includes an elaborate stand, but I'm debating myself whether it's better to display the car without it.

I picked up the Chrysanthemum from the Botanical Collection two weeks ago and loved it. So yesterday I bought the Plum Blossom and built it today. There are two more from this set coming up: the Orchid in two weeks, and the Bamboo after that. I’ll get those, too. I really like these because they’re gorgeous, but also they don’t take up a lot of room. Perfect for a renter like me.

Those look waaay better than I thought they would. Great compliment to those books behind them. Very nice setup!

Thank you, but honestly, it’s just a happy coincidence. That is literally the only shelf space I have available that those sets will fit inside.

I have some Lego sets that I want to sell, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
You've got a few options.

1) Ebay Fleabay where you can expect to get lowball and offensive offers
2) Since you are a premium member, you can try to sell them in the Trading Post thread
3) You can also sell them on Brick Link, creating an account is free. There's some hoops to jump through to become a seller, IIRC. Like linking your Paypal account, etc. It only takes a few min to do.
4) Social Media places like FB Marketplace, or Craigslist (more lowball offers, yay!)

I'm not sure what set(s) you have for sale or how much demand there is for them. I'm sure there's other options too, but GL!

Hello yes that's my fault, not sorry.

Another option is independent toy shops that buy second hand Lego but expect them to lowball you so hard your head will spin... Even if you know what it's worth, they also know what it's worth and have to make money on it somehow.

Or if you’re not in it for the cash and just want them gone for space etc. then giving them to local children charities and children’s hospitals etc. is a good way to bring some happiness to others who are unfortunate.

I gave away quite a few bits when I moved home. Including Autoart stuff and other diecast cars and games etc.

First holidays in a while I haven't bought myself a set to build. I do however have quite a few existing ones disassembled and boxed up after my last house move. Might be time to break them out of storage. Putting them together might be a struggle, I'm not sure all the pieces will be there and they aren't in those nice numbered bags anymore. I think I'm up for the challenge though.

Probably going to be Ecto-1.

Nephew got a Lego book for Christmas that makes a 2 lane cardboard ramp, like a combination of soapbox and drag racing, and it came with some bits to make a couple of cars. Then we started trying to add more weight with things that weren't Lego. Finding out a Victorinox penknife is exactly 2 studs wide was supremely satisfying.

I still lost, mind.

That's a good effort there, I need to order some Legos at Amazon or get them at the nearest toy store. Toy's R Us went out of business years ago.

Was that your first time building the car? It'd be neat to keep going by memorizing it and dropping your time down (w/o a manual too?). Cool stuff man!

Third, I think.

Soo... Santa gets us all a LEGO Speed Champions for our stocking each Christmas (or nearest available date; he's a flexible guy) and after main presents, Buck's Fizz/mimosas, and during the first part of turkey cooking we do a quick build-off.

If I remember correctly, this year was the VGT for me, the Mustang Dark Horse for Mrs. F, the S1 e-tron for youngest, and the eldest and her fiance had the Mercedes SL/G twin pack (which doesn't fit in a stocking, as above).

Naturally I won, because... yeah. I dismantled the set into the original bags, to run a test on the new speed-build setup for doing a ****-ton of them, and to re-check all the pieces as this set is actually quite annoying.

20241229_152024.jpg

There's basically 14 2x1 flat pieces, 7 keyed left and 7 keyed right, but five of each are two-layers thick at the pointy end and it's reaaaaaal hard to tell which is which. When I got to grips with that and was happy that the setup is workable, I went for a proper run.

So the one for the video was I think number three, or three and a bit (I had to restart on step six because one bit pinged off the other side of the room and I couldn't stop laughing). There were a couple of little hitches that cost a bit of time, but it was good enough.

I think what I'm going to do is post the whole build at normal speed on my YT channel with a wee bit of colour - picture-in-picture so that the build is always visible, with an intro, some thoughts on the car featured, some thoughts on the model and such - and then do more of them. I've got at least 16 Speed Champions bought to do this already, and a couple of Technics I'd like to try (but I may have to use another phone as my timer; no hours on the little one!).
