We started at ten past the hour waiting on Huyler. He and Bowtie were the only two that didn't make it. I logged in before the update and still haven't received it. I'll log in today.
I have to say that last night's race was probably the most racing I've done in an hour in a very long time. I do remember having a couple good racing laps at Autumn Ring last season, but this was racing, for me, from beginning to end save a three or four lap lull while people were pitting and such.
I posted the pole of 1:49.9. I don't guess I should be shocked, cause my car had 448 PP. But it understeers really really badly, and in practice would go for six to eight laps on a set of tires.
Off the line, other cars overtook me and I was in traffic for turn one. From where I was, it went smoothly. I was in second or third in turn one on lap two and again, it went cleanly. I got up to first on the back straight and stayed there until lap nine with a 2.5-3 second lead over Spooble in second.
On lap nine, I just completely missed the brake zone for the big double right after Mercedes. I must've blinked for a second or something, but that put me in the grass. I lost 12 seconds that lap. Wii got infront of Spooble and by lap 11 I was seven seconds behind Wii.
11 is were I was expecting to pit, but I tried to stretch it. I was now battling with Spooble and Pyxen, and on lap 14 I completely messed up turn one. I hate being behind someone when braking for a corner, so I get off the line, even if I have no intention of passing them. So I moved to the inside. With the extra speed from drafting, weak tires, and being on the wrong line, I messed up that corner and hit Pyxen. Terribly sorry about that. No idea if I hit him hard enough to cause damage to him, but my tires were gone and I pit.
I came out in 6th (and 50 seconds off of Wii) and didn't think I would see any more action. As others started to pit, I found myself back in with Spooble and Pyxen (and behind Geezer, who had a big off where we all got by). I was pushing hard to catch up and over take Spooble, but it just wasn't going to happen. I was destroying my tires, and I got into his fender on turn one (terribly sorry about that). I backed off and just tried to keep pace settling for third. I couldn't keep the pace, though, as my tires got weaker and Pyxen finally stayed infront of me.
I thought I would end up in fourth, but I started to get nervous. Geezer was closing up behind me, and with three laps to go, I could see him. I was only able to do 1:54s. On lap 31, Pyxen had a big off and I was able to close on him and pass him on the front straight. I think the traffic slowed Geezer down and I was able to hold on to third for the last lap.
I think it was a good race, even though I think my car was **** on that course and not an enjoyable drive. I am surprised that there was actual racing in the fourth week of the series.
