Geezer

It is an hour long race. Everyone should just file through the first hair pin.

Yes they should...but we know how well that works out...

Basically you've got two choices. Go deep inside and brake super early so you can hug the inside of the hairpin. Or you can brake late and try for the outside line which may yield a faster exit speed. The first option is safest, assuming you know how to slow down and you don't go flying through all the cars that are crossing in front of you. The second option is risky because you'll get broad sided by anyone that misses their braking point. Get caught in between these two lines and you'll likely get sandwiched between two cars.

yep...guess you've done it right most of the time. :)

...I don't know what colour to go this week. It's a very tough decision....guess I might go back to green, since I'll need all the speed I can get! ;)

Umm, my update is getting stuck at 0% downloaded...

I rebooted the system once already. Network is fine. Ugh :(

Can you hold off a few minutes to see if I can get it to work?

WTF. I guess give me another 5 min and if you don't see me sign on, start without me.

I got to 1% then it failed. I rebooted my router (even though it is working fine), rebooted the PS3, and it's stuck at 1% again. Eff this.

Edit: now 3%

well....it was a fun race, but in the end, I'm still not getting any cash, and gave up 5 points to Garris and Geezer that I could/should have kept. Next week, please feel free to pass me...left, right, up the centre...I won't mind.

I must say though, it is kinda nice having 2 Canadians on top!

I made a bad pit decision. I couldve keep up with Geezer, but thought I could catch and pass after a pit. Wrong.
Good racing tonight.

Sorry IKEA Elite, update wouldn't work. I failed you Diabolic. I'm sorry.

We started at ten past the hour waiting on Huyler. He and Bowtie were the only two that didn't make it. I logged in before the update and still haven't received it. I'll log in today.

I have to say that last night's race was probably the most racing I've done in an hour in a very long time. I do remember having a couple good racing laps at Autumn Ring last season, but this was racing, for me, from beginning to end save a three or four lap lull while people were pitting and such.

I posted the pole of 1:49.9. I don't guess I should be shocked, cause my car had 448 PP. But it understeers really really badly, and in practice would go for six to eight laps on a set of tires.

Off the line, other cars overtook me and I was in traffic for turn one. From where I was, it went smoothly. I was in second or third in turn one on lap two and again, it went cleanly. I got up to first on the back straight and stayed there until lap nine with a 2.5-3 second lead over Spooble in second.

On lap nine, I just completely missed the brake zone for the big double right after Mercedes. I must've blinked for a second or something, but that put me in the grass. I lost 12 seconds that lap. Wii got infront of Spooble and by lap 11 I was seven seconds behind Wii.

11 is were I was expecting to pit, but I tried to stretch it. I was now battling with Spooble and Pyxen, and on lap 14 I completely messed up turn one. I hate being behind someone when braking for a corner, so I get off the line, even if I have no intention of passing them. So I moved to the inside. With the extra speed from drafting, weak tires, and being on the wrong line, I messed up that corner and hit Pyxen. Terribly sorry about that. No idea if I hit him hard enough to cause damage to him, but my tires were gone and I pit.

I came out in 6th (and 50 seconds off of Wii) and didn't think I would see any more action. As others started to pit, I found myself back in with Spooble and Pyxen (and behind Geezer, who had a big off where we all got by). I was pushing hard to catch up and over take Spooble, but it just wasn't going to happen. I was destroying my tires, and I got into his fender on turn one (terribly sorry about that). I backed off and just tried to keep pace settling for third. I couldn't keep the pace, though, as my tires got weaker and Pyxen finally stayed infront of me.

I thought I would end up in fourth, but I started to get nervous. Geezer was closing up behind me, and with three laps to go, I could see him. I was only able to do 1:54s. On lap 31, Pyxen had a big off and I was able to close on him and pass him on the front straight. I think the traffic slowed Geezer down and I was able to hold on to third for the last lap.

I think it was a good race, even though I think my car was **** on that course and not an enjoyable drive. I am surprised that there was actual racing in the fourth week of the series.

I really enjoyed the race as well. The first turn wasn't too ugly. Someone did get into the back of me in the braking zone of the right hand hairpin (where Garris went off) on the first lap. This gave me minor damage to the right rear, but all it did was slightly loosen up the rear which wasn't a bad thing on the Demio. I made a couple of mistakes on that corner myself. I think what happens is I'm watching for my split time to pop up and forget to brake. :) I wasn't exactly sure what the rules were concerning the green paint at the chicane. I think I might have been a little too conservative because Pyxen was making up a good bit of time on me there.

Looking ahead to next week, are we required to keep 2 wheels on the tarmac at all times or is it anything goes on Toscana tracks? My car definitely performs better with SS tires. I think next week will be fun!

Edit: Oh crap! I just realized I'll be in Phoenix again next week so I'll be driving with the controller. That's gonna suck!

I was looking forward to last night's race and I tried everything to get logged into PSN. By 11:00 the update was at 38%. I gave up at 5% and started cruising the internet in the other room. I can only guess that the PSN servers were overloaded with people trying to download the update. I guess I should have signed on earlier to avoid the update. I tried to find the download on their website but it hadn't been updated yet.

I'm out for the season. It's not worth the effort at this point. I may organize a wednesday lemons series with different rules to keep cars close in performance the entire season. Stay tuned.
