In my mind, when I think "racecar", FFs aren't included, so I've been avoiding them. But I guess I need to try out a few. I have 1 car sitting at 345 with 0 miles. That would count as a 350, correct? I'm fine with whatever, though. I have other decent cars under 345.

I think you're missing the point a bit..."racecar" and "decent" don't need to figure into Lemons racing...eg: a volvo station wagon. ;)

I'm going unconventional I think.

I need a Karhmann Ghia if anyone has one, I modded my last one to do lightweight classics in the 450 room, and I wanted another one. It needs to be stock though. I'm also very upset that the car I wanted to race is one year over. Next season it's going to rape.

If anyone is looking for cars, please let us know. If you want to keep it private, send me a PM or an email (vol.jbolaz at Gmail). I'm running some B-Spec races today and I should be working from home most of this week so I can do it then, too. That way I can turn over my UCD.

Got a replay of me doing that epic slide into turn one?

Been doing a little testing on comfort mediums and boy am I slow. Or maybe Huyler is just an alien. :) I'm running around 1:30. A little better with a couple cars. I was able to get a 1:28.9 with the EXA Canopy, but I was within a half second of that with 2 other cars as well.

Bowtie, i had a KG but it took way too many mods to get to 345.

As for going up to 350, i have a few older cars with 0 miles that came in at 346 after changing the oil. Adding 2 kg of ballast brought them back down to 345...but the funny part is that they are painfully slow. I was thinking we could make a 350 exception for certain cars, maybe by age...but i'm not sure just yet how to keep it fair.

I think I have a stock one. Ill check tonight

I say anything before 1980 gets a 5pp bonus and maybe before 1970 gets an 8pp bonus.

Don't do that, then it wouldnt be fair for you all.

Has anyone driven the Honda Jazz 1.4 DSI Se Sport '01 yet? It's got a CVT transmission. Stays in its power band the entire time...only problem is you cant hear the tires and you get no engine braking. Try it out though, its one of the faster cars i tested.

I still cant find anything faster than the EXA...but i have a few potental cars i may run after an evening of testing.

I tried 2 last night, the 01 Lupo GTI (or something like that), and the EXA. The EXA surprised me with how quick it was compared to the Lupo. I was thinking of going with the EXA since my 83 Civic seems to be just a little over 345 (if that is what is decided). Is there going to be a field of EXAs?

Have you guys tried the Beetle? Is it just me?

Ban the Exa!

I can't see a need in banning it. For starters, I know there are drivers, in the plural, that won't be taking it. Bowtie is one, and he'll still do well this season without the Camper (although his first choice was a year too new, so I don't know what he'll take, but he's looking for something unique and challenging). I imagine that the other really good drivers could still do well without it. And while I am faster in it than most everything else I've tested, I'm still two seconds slower in it than you or Huyler.

The main reason I don't see a need in banning it is the cash allocation. If the Exa starts well, then the other drivers will get more cash, to buy more parts, and they should then do as well if not better than the Exa. If a car dominates all season, then the parity device is broken, not the car.

No, I just can't find another one in the UCD. The one I had I bumped to 350 and the other, I don't know what I did to it.

I'm down to two. The 65' Silvia I've had down to a 1.28.3 in garris' lounge, and I'll probably never pit. If I can find a Karhmann Ghia, I'll probably just drive it, mostly because it's my favorite VW, and I highly doubt anyone else would pick it. I keep flipping UCD still haven't found one yet. :grumpy: I hope one of you can find one and end my troubles. 👍

I want to give the RR's a chance.

You looking an Exa? I may have one untouched, still.

I'm running B-Spec races today while I'm working to turn over my UCD. I'll keep an eye out for a KG.

Car selection isn't due for another week, so we all have plenty of time to churn through the UCDs.

I think we need to ban anyone who placed top 3 in any of the seasons from driving the EXA. I haven't driven the beetle yet but I ran about 15 cars last night, all '01 or older and with full engine refresh tuned to 345pp. Nothing came within 6/10ths of the EXA around GVE-R.

Other cars that were quick included the VW Lupo GTI '01, VW Polo GTI '01, and Honda Jazz 1.4 DSI Se Sport '01. The Jazz (aka Fit), as I mentioned before could be a real winner if you can get into a rhythm with it. It has the speed of the EXA but I was struggling with consistency in it. It will also cook tires since you get peak power/torque at any speed.

Below that on my lap time grid are a handful of old cars. I may pick one of those just because I feel they embody lemons racing more so than a VW Lupo or Honda Fit.

I'm going to keep flipping my UCD though because there are a bunch of cars I tuned up to 375 for season 2 that might have more potential at 345.

The honda fit is mostly just a great handling car, stick a guy who can save tires in one, and go to town.

Oh, ok. :(

I like the Lupo, but mine was at 343 @0 miles, and I started to break it in and it went to 348. I liked the Carina, but I bumped it to 350. Oh well, more UCD flipping.

Yeah my Piazza went over after it got some miles on it. That was a quick car but I think its now at 350.

I have a Carina 4ws, that refreshed to exactly 345, I'm not going to use it, but it's low 1.28 all day. If someone wants it, claim it.

Me! Payback!

I was running decent laps in the Carina and the Polo. And the EXA, but it's just so ugly. I was hoping one of the ultra light cars might work well, but I tried the S800, Capp, and 98 Mini and they are sorely off the pace. The speed just isn't there. I think anything starting with less than 90hp or so is gonna have a tough time.

Yes, it appears to be hp that is the issue. The game seems to trade about 10-15 hp per 100kg for cars between 700-1100 kg. An 1100 kg car with 120hp fairs much better around most tracks than a 700kg car with only 80hp.

I tried the Capp and Autozam too. Neither even made my top 10 practice mode list. The Autozam is too loose to put down clean laps. The Capp ain't bad but even when I push hard for fast speeds through the turns, it simply doesn't have enough power to accelerate out of the turns when you're pushing the tires to the limit. And on any incline, forget it. As we have discovered in 450pp racing, you simply need to have a certain weight class to be competitive. The physics model doesn't really give lightweight enough of an advantage in the turns.

I know last season people complained about the lightweight cars dominating...well this season I think it is going to be the heavyweights.

Will we have cheap/Lemons Special prices on any parts this season? Eg: FC tranny or suspension? I liked the $7500 pricetag.. Could do that for both maybe?
