I know I'm gonna run the 70 skyline is one series, I think this one. I'm tossing around several other cars. I want to run something different, but I also want to do well

I think the FC tranny should be expensive. Maybe 10 to 15k.
Still seems a bit like micro-managing the series. Would it be good? Would it be bad?
A butterfly flaps it's wings in Brazil and a Tsunami wrecks Tokyo.

Completely agree. Keep everything the same. Raise pp to 385, give us an extra year and that's it.

I could see lowering the FC transmission to 10,000. But I see that as a compromise. My inclination is to just leave it alone.

I'll be Lemons testing in my lounge tonight 8pm central as I don't often fair well in the same make/model races

I might join you, I'll need to shoot you an FR though. I'd like to test my cars against some other choices.

I don't think I can commit to every race on Tuesdays. However, if someone is going to miss a race for a legitimate reason, I'd be happy to sit in and drive their car so they can stay in the points race.

A couple of quick thoughts:

Keep your eyes on the first post. The rules will be changing a bit. Things are completely settled just yet.

Your car must be 385 PP after an engine refresh. You must do an engine refresh. New cars must be 380 PP.

You may add parts that affect PP before the first race. Only those parts. Last season, the limit was 375. I think my car started at 372. You may not be able to get to 385 exactly.

You may not use engine limiting or ballast for the first race.

I will be hosting a practice session this Tuesday. We will run little five lap races at GVE-R, Madrid, and Laguna Seca. This will just be a chance for people to play with the cars they are considering. I have two FFs and an FR that understeers that I'm looking at. I may look at some others if they come up in my UCD.

If there is a car that you are looking for, let us know. We may have it. I don't mind keeping an eye out for it. I like to have two copies of the car in my garage. One to race, and one to test with it. I recommend it. For that reason, I may need help finding a second copy of this FR I am considering. I'm going to keep it secret for now.

If you haven't raced with us before, I urge you to come out on Tuesday, and strongly urge you to make the preseason race. Also, please look into the 450 Club. If you aren't a tuner (I am not), then check out the Tuning forum. I can recommend the Cone Killer's 450PP Mazda RX8 Online Racer. It is very quick and stable. I like it a lot.

Also, keep in mind, this is a eight race series. Please, don't commit unless you feel you can make it. If you miss three races, you will be dropped.

I'm in for Tuesday Garris...was thinking about proposing the exact same thing.

What does the RX8 have to do with our 385pp series tho?

It's just a good car to run in the 450 series if people want to practice before the season starts.

I should be able to make the practice session on tuesday, hopefully most of us will be there.

As far as cars go, as I posted in the wednesday thread, I'm looking for an '86 Celica GT-four that refreshes to 385 or less, I just don't think it exists.

I've purchased two, and they both went over the 385. I did pick up the 4WS and I want to test that.

I had just three on my list, but now I have five or six. :P

tested all yesterday and still have 5-6 cars running the same times around several tracks :( I keep hoping somthing will stand out.

Well, some things to keep in mind:

1) Transmission: Do any of them have transmissions that you know you'll need to replace?

2) Displacement: Even though a small engine can keep up right now, it might not mature as well as a bigger one. I dropped a 1.6 L from consideration even though it wasn't bad.

3) Weight: I hope weight affects tire wear in this game.

4) If you want, you can send me your list, in order of preference, and if anyone else has picked your first pick, I'll go down to your second. That is if you want to run something different than everyone else. I don't mind there being at least one other person running my car so I can see how it is supposed to be done. And it seems that someone else has picked the FR car I was considering.

I'd just like to know who is considering the Silvia Varietta. I know for a fact that I'm not the only one.

Do I need to send u my car list before practice tomorrow?

No. Tomorrow is just practice. Although I am leaning toward the FR I'm testing, I will be playing around with the two FFs and the few others I've picked up. I don't expect anyone to have a decision until next Tuesday.

And for those of you that have decided, I won't announce any cars until next Tuesday.

Can two people use the ssame car?

Yes. We would like to avoid it, but we don't have a fair mechanic. Based on the responses so far, I'm afraid this may become a two-make series. Which is a shame, cause there are lots of good cars.

We'll see how it shakes out.

Seriously? A 2-make series? I've got 5 or 6 cars that all run very close lap times. Each is a little different when it comes to tranny, weight, power, and handling...but I think I could be successful with any of them.

Well you know I'm one of the others :P
We both know of one other from yesterday who's considering it. (But he's just as quick in another Silvia)

I've decided against the Silvia Varietta for two reasons. One is that it's heavy, the other is that it's ugly.

Mostly because it's ugly.

The decision I need to make now is which car to run on which night.

Ugly?

I'm considering it. And one of the things I like about it is it is gorgeous. It looks much better than the Tiburon and marginally better than the Talon.

I also like the weight. For now, it is helping keep it planted so it doesn't oversteer. It does understeer a little.

I figure as the season goes along and the suspension and aerodynamics can be improved, then I can shed the weight and it won't get crazy.

Those three are my short list, and I wanted to try an FR this season. I have picked up a few more that I haven't driven, yet. One of them is the 4WS Celica. I'll try them tomorrow, hopefully.

Does the Varietta come in any other color aside from White?

Alright, let me just say I think the S15 is one of the best looking cars to ever come out of Japan. If it wasn't for the ridiculous restrictions on imports here in the states I'd be looking for one in a few years.

I think the Varietta completely ruins the look of the car. I feel the same way about the 350 and 370Z Roadsters. It's like they chopped the roof of it and forgot to finish styling it, so they just extended the trunk all the way to the end of the doors.
