Yeah, you've got to keep in mind that a) you have to not wreck, and b) on week 2, the fastest cars will be completely shuffled.

I won the Tuesday series last season by racing clean and quick in my MR2. I wasn't running pole position laps every lap, but I was driving within my limits of comfort and tire wear. On the Wednesday series I picked a slower car, the 280z because I thought it would be fun. Unfortunately, late season participation dropped and although my car was quick, my competitors had no one in front of them. Additionally, I made a few mistakes that cost me some points, but nothing drastic, just missed opportunities.

In the end, I enjoyed driving both cars. Had the 280z had a turbo option I think it would have built up better...but it was still fun to battle with all motor. So if you really like the S15, by all means drive it...otherwise pick something that will be fun.

Power is important, but as I found out last season you still have to drive the car well and not wreck.

The Varietta is much more stable than that old Skyline. The Varietta has some more weight to keep it on the ground and better stock suspension.

Plus, throttle control.

I can go as fast around GVE-R in the Varietta as I can in the Talon and Tiburon and the tail doesn't step out once. In fact, the Varietta understeers a little.

I'm sure the others could actually make the Varietta go around faster than I can. Possibly by making the tail step out a bit, I don't know.

Apples and oranges.

I must say, the '70 Skyline was the most planted car I drove. Virtually no throttle oversteer on the final turn of GVE-R. I'm not sure if that was due to grip, or lack of torque though. I could hit the throttle well before the apex.

Obviously I cannot time then. It was all over the place

I found that it understeers a little on turn in and steadily transitions to slight oversteer throughout the turn. It's nice because with some trail braking you can ease it into the turn and rotate the car around the apex with very little off-throttle time. It's a result of the 60:40 weight distribution.

Another reason it's easy to get on the throttle is because the S20 has a smooth torque curve. It feels like it's lacking torque but I think it's the delivery that makes it feel that way.

Cujo, I though you were running the '73? The '73 was totally different when I tested it. Very easy to break the rear end loose.

Sl3ight, you described the '70 perfectly. It's very smooth all around. I do quite a bit of trail braking and like to load my tires up gradually so I know exactly how much to brake. The car performed perfect in that respect...something I can't seem to do in FF cars in this game. The MRs are a little more tricky with the trail braking. you've got to get the brake balance just right to prevent them from swapping ends.

. Good chance that 70 will be my choice for Wednesday
Right right, my bad. The 73 is loosy goosy, the 70 is great to drive

There have only been nine respondents so far, but it is 6 to 2 against limits. So, run whatever you want. If we wind up with half a dozen Variettas, I don't mind.

Mine will be very easy to spot. It will be the slowest.

I'm a little surprised that so many people like it. I figured they wouldn't like it for the same reasons that I do like it (weight, understeer).

I didn't realized the '70 Skyline was better than the '73. I think I may have one, so I'll give that a spin. So, the Varietta, Talon, and Tiburon are on my short list, I still think I have six or seven cars to test out.

I think it's the FR + Turbo aspect that's bringing a lot of people to it...I'm only 50% there, so I'll test it tonight, and see how it turns out..I might bring out my other one (that Huyler and Diabolic got to know well last week), but I'm not sure.

So decent competition tonight, Daytona was a blast, just because I decided to crash everyone. I know you all didn't like it, but it was fun. :P

I think I've made my decision on car, with my performance in the first two races.

That is certainly it. Not many late model FRs to choose from at this pp level. The 80's FRs are overrated and don't perform well. The 70's FRs need a few mods to get there but still don't blow away the competition.

How many times have I mentioned we should stop talking about that car

You better paint yours something distinct so you can pick it out of the pack. I fully expect to see 5 on the grid come Tuesday.

I didn't like it...not picking *********** >>>>> THE SILVIA VARIETTA (S15) '00. <<<<<< ***********

You know, the TURBO (!1!!!!1!!) FR (!!!1!!1) car.

Btw...we were talking in the room last night, and I think everyone agreed that the Nurburgring Time Change is a better track than the normal one...I *love* driving in the dark, and it's way better there than at La Sarthe (because there's ......(suspense)...... turns).

Can we please use the time change Green Hell instead ?

That was the one course while I was in that that I almost didnt win. You (Pyxen) were closing my gap and then you were gone. :P The darkness takes no prisoners

I'm pretty sure most of us thought running the Nurburgring at night was a terrible idea. Though I'm all for running Time Change, if we set time progression to 1(realtime), and start time to about 9AM. :)

I was soooooo on your ass, and then my car started bouncing around and I spun out into the sand... *sigh* I loved that race! I was hoping you'd have 'an incident'. :mischievous: If I could have held it together up the hill into Adenaur Forst, I'da been long gone..

LOL... I do not recall... ;) We should just do a 24hr cycle like La Sarthe.

I don't know if anyone really cares about color. I was going to go with one of the purples, but they just didn't look right for some reason. If no one else already had this in mind, then I'm going with Purplish Blue.

Diabolic, we still need to decide on our colors for this season. Get back to me.

I'm going with light metallic silver. Let me know if anyone else was thinking the same.

BTK

The love-fest begins... First its the colour of drapes, erm I mean cars, then its pitting order and where to put the bays along pit lane...before you know it, someone will have sideswiped someone else, and they'll be deciding who gets which tires, or how they share custody of the pit crew... We've seen it all before.

;)

I'm sticking with green - its 5 seconds faster.

Btw, I was thinking about series format, and has it been suggested in the past to go with a set amount of cash, and you can buy whatever you want up to that amount? Ie: 30k credits for car and all equipment you can cram in..

Bwhahahaha

I had a varietta POP up in my UCD. Not the Dang car I want. But if anyone doesn't have one and wants it, I've got one
