Yeah, i made the mistake of going fully adjustible last season, won't do that again. I got the handling I wanted, but I didn't have the speed I needed for the last race.

I really wonder what the potential for my '91 Miata is. I was only able to his 1:58 a few times; I was consistent at 2:00 by the end of the race. Does choosing a 0 mile car and taking the 5PP hit make that much of a difference?

Its not good...the PP range ends in the high 430s while most every other car reaches 460s and up. The Talon, by comparison, goes to 502PP.

No doubt too Chuyler that following you gave me the 4th place finish. I ran consistent 1:53 w/o draft after the pit. Then I crashed into the pits when I took my eyes off my car (since I use 3rd person) to look behind me after the corkscrew to see Wiifreak passing me. That was lap 34 I think and I ran all 1:53s the last 11 laps to pass supernasty and MadMax..plus 10 or so other lappers in between just to make 4th. I went in thinking it was a sunday drive and for 20 laps I did that. Then my competitive streak kicked in after I pit for that stupid small circle damage I got from missing the brake into the cork screw. :ouch:

Well, I'm going to the races tonight, but might be back by 11:00 or so. If so, I'll go in my lounge and practice.

Anyone want to run some practice later tonight? I've been busy lately and haven't gotten to drive my car with the wheel yet.

I did some practice last night in practice mode. I have been perfecting my turn 1-2 approach. I'm still using my fast entrance to turn 1 but ive been trying to get the braking and turn-in right for maximum speed out of turn 2. Getting it right saves me .5 seconds per lap, putting me only .8 behind my best MR2 lap. However i only get it right 1/5 the time.

My 280z has such great balance. I know some of you thought it was loose but i love it. When i overshoot a corner, both outside wheels overheat and i go into a controlled drift. Obvioslynthat isnt the fastest way around the track, but at least i know i'm not going to plow through the turn or have the rear end come flying out.

Well getting the most speed out of turn 2 has always been my approach. Whether or not I am accomplishing that feat is another story :)

Well, now i've got a line that does both (fast in, fast out)...but most important for my car is to never slow down. Gaining back speed on the uphill in my car just aint gonna happen so i try to carve out a turn getting the most out of my lateral grip without missing the turn 2 apex.

So I went to practice today and discovered my brake pedal isn't fully returning anymore. Luckily I have the standard fanatec pedals in addition to my CSPs so I'm not really screwed.

What kind of laps are you guys setting?

Could you fix it?
and thanks for the Golf I GTI '76

I know this is getting off topic, but try sticking a screw in the pedal base, and stick a stiff throttle spring off a carb, or just any stiff spring. Sure it might be harder to push but could help. Unless it's inside the pedals, I would have too take one apart too figure out how too fix it.

I run Fanatec CSPs. I'm almost 100% certain it's the load cell itself. I've tried a few different springs, foams, and spacers.

They are certainly stiff enough, I honestly don't know if I could drive properly if it were any stiffer. Total brake pedal throw is about 3cm and I've pulled my wheel off my desk trying to stop my chair from going backwards under braking. If I try to press the brake with my hand I can maybe get almost 1/4 braking.

chuyler, something came up and I will not be able to join tomorrow night. Bummer, was looking forward to a better position than Laguna. GVE-R is better suited for the Corolla than Laguna.

By the way, did you get the 280Z I sent?

I am most likely backing out of this series. I will still be in the Tuesday night races but i can't do it two days in a row.

Booch, are you going to be in the race tonight? If not, could Sohn take your spot?

I will not be in the race tonight, feel free to give my spot away!
for this race and all others.
Good luck racers!

This is a great idea! Shame I saw this too late :(
I hope you decide to do another series after this one, I'd be VERY up for it!

We absolutely will do another one. Still room in the Tuesday night series. Contact Vol to see if there is a slot open for a late addition.

Here are a few photos from last week's pre-season kick-off.

Starting grid shows a wide assortment of cars, old and well, less old.

Several laps in, cars are still running close together as they approach turn 6 "the elbow" as I like to call it.

Chuyler there aren't any modifications yet right? So should I just email you my stuff like last time?

Yes. Double check the first post for rules for the first race. There is no budget but car must be at or under 375pp and certain mods are not allowed. Email or PM me the info before the race tonight.

Not sure whether Booch is going to make it tonight or what. He didn't officially say he was backing out of the entire series...only that he was thinking about it since he will be missing two races.
