Liam's NA Miata - Finally back on the road!!!

Have some updates!

The rust, I have the money saved, but my body guy is extremely busy right now. Luckily they still haven't salted the roads a lot, and it hasn't snowed yet.

Also got new brake pads! I just changed the fronts, I didn't have the time to do the rears.

There are the old pads with the new.

Install was a no brainer, just took my time and consulted the inter webs a lot.

The front brakes dont squeak anymore! The rears still squeak, but I'll change those when we get a dry day.

I also got new alignment bolts from 949 racing, I'll get them installed at the end of the month when I get paid and get a wheel alignment too, with Flyin Miata specs if I can. After thats done, April will be ready for her first autocross! I haven't taken her on one because of the clunk when turning and the horrible brake pads.

Also ordered a DDM Works intake, really excited. But its on back order and won't be here for a while :(

Here are some recent shots of April.

On another note, I got my full license. Which means I don't need that green N anymore. So you can't call me beginner driver now! :D

Been keeping up with oil changes, going to switch to 10W-30. The Miata specialist(body guy) said that thicker oil with help with my lifter tick. It does not tick with fresh oil, but comes back after around 1,000kms. So we'll see how that goes.

Also think about doing some bondo and paint work my self, I think I'll be able to fix my flaking paint my self.

Mainly just want to make April look better until I get a proper paint job.

This page crashed 3 times trying to load the large photos on my crappy laptop. :P

Replace those rear pads soon, not good to replace one and not the other.
Lol, I didnt scale them down this time haha. I actually replaced the rear ones this afternoon. NO SQUEAKING! :D

OKAY! Just got the car back from the body shop yesterday, I decided not to get the rear end resprayed its cheap just to get the whole car done at once, so they just repaired the rust. Man did they do an awesome job.

They exceeded my expectations, photos aren't the best but its looks great. They also treat the minor surface rust on inner fenders and treated the wheel wells too.

I also got an intake, its the DDM works one.

And a radio bezel from ddm works too.

Makes the interior much cleaner.

I also ordered a Nardi steering wheel so that to should be here next week hopefully.

So what do y'all think?

Im also planning to get the whole car resprayed by the end of spring early summer, just trying to find a body shop with the best quality and price.

Looks fantastic Liam. You're really doing a great job with this car.

Good man! Glad to see you finally got that out of the way. Now I can stop sounding like your mother. :P Looks fantastic.

Usually Mondays are bad, but mine was pretty good today.

Its my Nardi Deep Corn 330mm, with perforated leather. I am so impressed with the build quality! I'm still waiting for my hub, hopefully it comes this week and I can get this baby mounted up!

That is an EXCELLENT update! They did a great job repairing the rust. So happy to see that finally fixed. I also like the DDM air intake, the radio bezel and your steering wheel. All great upgrades. 👍

Haha thanks. Ya the rust repair is outstanding, the intake sounds good too. Still waiting for my hub, I can't put the wheel on yet its killing me!

I want that wheel so bad ={. Lucky.

Save your pennies, its pricey but so worth it.

Good choice! I bought a Momo hub and a used NRG Quick Release and kinda regret it. Hub isn't really a direct fit for Miata. QR is decent though.
Thanks for the reassurance haha, wasn't really sure about the hub, but heard good things about it. Would you know how to hook up the horn button? Is it easy?

So my Daikei hub came in the mail on Monday, that night I installed my Nardi. Here are some pics!

This thing is gorgeous, worth every penny. It feels so good and solid! Installation was...finicky at least for me it was. The Daikei hub made hooking up the horn easy as pie.

I'm still getting used to how much smaller it is than the factory wheel, its 330mm. Also the hand position is closer to 10 and 2 rather than 9 and 3, I'm getting used to that as well.

The smaller diameter means my leg don't rub up on the wheel during heel toe braking, and turning, its awesome. My legs have some much more room than before, they don't touch the wheel unless I really try.

Its freaking awesome, and really compliments the interior! I love it. Next on the list for the interior is the Carbonmiata door cards, which @DaxCobra has on his MX5.

Also have a tire balance and wheel alignment setup for this Saturday, I'm also getting my alignment bolts replaced so there won't be any clunking during hard cornering.

There is an auto cross event on the 22 that I want to enter, Ive seen Miatas go to our local events without them but hopefully I can get one before the event. My parents are paying half since its a safety feature and can save my life.

Super pleased with the wheel, and helps a ton with the redstitched look I'm going for.

That steering wheel looks great and concentrates the focus of the interior where is belongs.

I'm tempted to drive up to BC just to get a look. Maybe stop in Seattle on the way to see a Trans Am. Owning a GT makes it too easy to drive long distances.
