Well, speaking for myself, LBP, although cute & playful in style, is the first video game I have come across that strikes me as a genuinely mature & unique artistic creation - unlike all the "hardcore" shooters out there which fundamentally pander to the fantasies of adolescent boys (of all ages ;)).

As it is with all games and DLC content, no matter what profile you use to download it, whether it be free or not, all user accounts on that PS3 have access to them.

In the case of the costumes in LBP, you'll find the individual items that make up each costume in the different pages and categories within the Costume PopIt menu.

Does the PopIt filter by category so that it might not be showing everything? Because we're definitely not seeing the space suit on any PopIt pages.

There is no filtering that I am aware of, only the option to sort your items by "Category", "Newest", and "Theme". I recommend sorting by "Category" unless you are looking specifically for items you just earned, as the category sort keeps things very organized.

I started a thread with information on how to find costume items and other LBP items. It might help, although I have not updated it yet as far as where the SackSpaceman items are located.

If my memory serves me well, the SackSpaceman only has two items, the Helmet and the Space Suit:
  • The helmet I believe is located in the "Headwear" category which in on the second page of the Customize Character Popit menu.
  • The space suit is located in the "Torso" category which in on the third page of the Customize Character Popit menu.
I hope that helps. If you still can't find it, make sure you really did download the DLC, and not just add it to your download list. In fact, if you still can't find these items, I'd recommend you log in under the account you used to get it, and go to the PSN store, and then view your download list. Find it and download it again. If that still doesn't work, double check to be sure you are downloading the costume from the same region as your version of LBP.

If all of this checks out and you are positive those costume items are no where to be find, then perhaps you have stumbled across some strange anomaly and you may need to replace your game for another copy?

I don't think DLC goes across all accounts, nor do the costume pieces, will research more later.
I know for a fact it does. I only use one account on my PS3 for downloading games and DLC, but I have *14 accounts on my PS3.

*Five for access to other PSN regional stores, four for each of our family members, and the rest for extended family members and a couple close friends who visit regularly... and of course one just for GTP racing events. :)

I have not played LBP on all of them, I know for a fact the other accounts have access to the DLC, and most recently the LPB costume packs, as I've seen them when my wife and kids are playing LBP in each of their costume Popit menus. I also know the same is true for other games and DLC that I have downloaded from my main account and yet played and had access to with other accounts on my PS3.

Well, I finally got this, it's quite fun, I haven't ventured into the playing with other people bit yet though, but I have been playing a bit of the story and user levels.

From,
Chris.

Well, we re-DLed the spacesack under our main account. The spacesack is now available to the subaccount profile that started our current LBP save (different from the main account), but not to any of the additional profiles, even though they have played in that game save.

Very odd. I went ahead and started new games on three different accounts on my PS3, none of which are sub accounts of my main account, and the one that I downloaded the various costume packs to and each and everyone of them had all the DLC costume items in their correct categories in the Customize Character menus.

Unless something is getting lost in translation, it would appear you have some unknown issue.

All I know is that DLC content from the PSN store are files that are either created or updated in the Game Data Utility folder located at the top of the Game menu bar in the XMB, or in some rare cases, like when you download GTTV videos in GT5P, it updates the game file itself.

In either case, from my understanding and from my own personal experience having multiple accounts, all accounts, whether they be main accounts or subaccounts have access to *all the games and game data on that PS3. The only unique thing for each user is the game saves themselves.

The one exception, which doesn't apply to your situation, is in the case that the account that downloaded copy protected games and or content had been deleted from that PS3. Then of course that content is no longer made available to any account on that PS3.

I wish I could be of more help, but I have not been able to replicate what you have described. I thought maybe the costumes don't become available right away, but after starting those new games on new accounts, each one showed the costume items listed in the menu... well that is once I got to the point in the introductory level that shows you how to use the Customize Character menu.

Speaking of which, is there any way to bypass the intro level when starting a brand new game?

I realize it's a relatively short intro guide, but still. I find it odd that there is no option that I can see that would allow you to go straight into the regular game modes. :odd:

We only have one actual game save. I suppose we'll actually have to start a game for each profile in order to get the suit. Thanks for the information and research!

So how are you guys coming along with your Sackboy collections?

I just added Dhalsim, Aquaman, and Mr. T to mine. :D

Tetris can be "hardcore" if you try to survive into the levels past 100.
It has more than one level? I knew I sucked at the game, but apparently I REALLY suck.

Oh well, unlike most people I have at least seen all three level forms of Donkey Kong.

Anyway, I think we all need to lay of Dragonistic. He said that he didn't see the game appealing to him but that he would check it out. He said that from the beginning, and that is the most we can ask, and in many cases, is all it requires to make a fan.

I think many of us, myself included, took his less-than-thrilled reaction and made it into something much more negative than it needs to be. He didn't claim that it eats babies for fun. He just said that the look and gameplay style does not appeal to him. From there we have been arguing about the meaning of hardcore. I think the point was made a long time ago that a definition of hardcore in gaming doesn't rule out LBP and neither does looking for something more mature.

For my part, Dragonistic, I apologize the reactions became so argumentative.

Moving on:

I finally completed my boss for my new level. He tries to smash you with a club as well as shoot fireballs at you, and defeating him requires two stages.

Now I just need to create a fully functional volcano with a secret boss lair inside.

And I am already halfway to my gold Create trophy. Hopefully the awesomeness of this new level will get me even more love.

Does anyone want the story mode walkthrough section of my Game Guide? I haven't touched that section yet and don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.

Well my bro landed himself a job doing a promotional job for Sony, part of his contract seems to involve lots of freebie including a PS3

This also inlcudes being given free games many of which he may have to promote, he has been given a number of games recently one of which is little big planet. He brought it back home with him when he came back from university this weekend, and it certainly convinced me to get it. The game is just excellent fun and considering I am sandbox happy I can't wait to use all my unlocked items to create new and exciting levels :dopey: Unfortunately this means having to wait until I have purchased the game :P The progress so far should be saved on my console for when I get it though (shouldn't be a matter of if). We played it multiplayer and got to the level in which you have to break a certain person out of jail. The imagination behind this game is very impressive, it is much better than I had anticipated and that is saying something because I suspected it would be a good game.

So how are you guys coming along with your Sackboy collections?

I just added Dhalsim, Aquaman, and Mr. T to mine. :D

Let me be the first to congratulate Omnis on his extremely talented skill at making custom impersonation SackBoys!

I was goofing off in LBP with Omnis a couple nights ago and he was kind enough to show me some of the custom sackboys he has been working on. His SackJoker is excellent, and I can't believe I didn't think of using the Space Suit and Roman Cape and paint them both black to make a great looking Darth Vader sackboy just as Omnis did.

I'm still working on his head though, so far I'm getting the best Vader head (sans helmet) by using the Kratos skin material and adding "make-up" to cover over the red marks and add some scars. Which material did you use?

I also made a "Dark Helmet" sackboy from Spaceballs:

spaceballs_dark_helmet_2.jpg

Basically I took my current Darth Vader sackboy and added the baseball helmet and the round glasses. 👍

Now all I need is to come up with a light saber. :)

Speaking of which, check this out:

And speaking of creative uses of LBP sackboys, check this guy out:

You should check out some of the other videos he has made of his LBP escapades as well... brilliant stuff. 👍

Here is a video showing how someone used LBP to ask someone to marry them:

I'm scratching my head here - maybe I haven't got the right creative thoughts or my collection of objects & tools is somewhat flaky, but...

I'm trying to create a lethal waterwheel. The wheel itself is fine, but if you fall off, you die. The access to the wheel is fine. The wheel is fine and turns nicely (in purple glass), but the second I add the Nasty Gas to the pit, the wheel stops turning. I checked the last Gardens level to see how they did it - they apparently used some white-coloured lethal gas (how? dunno) on the middle layer, with blue blocks cut to look like water emitted from the right, disappearing on the left (how? dunno).

Help?

Is your wheel in the same plane as the gas and does any moving part dip into it?

Objects lethalized with gas still act as somewhat of a solid object for some reason, so they may be preventing movement if it is actually dipping down into it.

I'd have to see it to be sure though. They are probably using an optical trick to make it appear that it is going down into it.

As for the water cut blocks that emit and then disappear without doing the odd vaporizing thing emitted objects normally do: They have a between layers piece on the outer edge of the very, very front most pane and the "water" is in the first plane, sliding behind that panel and then doing the vaporizing thing. The act of making the water slide across is done using a conveyor belt, which is labeled in the game guide as a complex creation.

If I remember tonight when I get home I will check it out and pass on the directions.

I don't get how to make an emitter emit the water-shaped blocks...

If you go to the Gardens, third level, after the two spinning windmills is their waterwheel. I don't get how they make their gas white either, instead of greeny-brown.

I don't get how to make an emitter emit the water-shaped blocks...
First you have to have a water-shaped block as an object available to you. I don't think you can get them in the story mode, so you will have to make them yourself. Then save them in your objects (the topmost icon in your objects menu that has a square and goodies bag icon).

Then after you place your emitter you have to tweak it (I can only assume you know how to do this as you have a working waterwheel). The first option in the tweak menu is to select an object to be emitted. Click X and it will open your objects menu, allowing you to select any of them. Find the water-shaped block and hit X.

Now, it appears that you have been kicked out of the tweak menu, when in reality it wants you to place where the object will appear. It will have a ghost image of the object connected to the emitter by a popit string. Place it where you want it to appear and hit X.

This will take you back into the tweak menu where you can then set linear velocity (the speed it exits the emitter at) and angular velocity (spin speed for rolling objects). You also have your usual visible and timing options.

If you go to the Gardens, third level, after the two spinning windmills is their waterwheel. I don't get how they make their gas white either, instead of greeny-brown.
Good question, but people do it all the time. I have seen red and blue gas as well. Um, have you tried a colored sticker? I actually need red gas for the level I am working on so I imagine I will figure this out very soon.

How? :D

I've done all the Tutorials (though I didn't get a trophy, and can't find a way to try to do any of them again), and I don't remember that appearing on the list anywhere... :(

Seriously? Pick a material, then shape it like a water wave. X makes new material, triangle deletes, or cuts. Personally I would lay out a big square of whatever material (cardboard will work fine) and then cut a wavy pattern into the top of it. I have found the best way to do this is to take the square shape and make it as small as it will go (right-stick down) so it acts like a pointer and cut the edge of the shape you want. When you get done you select and delete (triangle) the excess material that you just cut away. Then you would need to use a color sticker to make it blue.

Have you also done all the tutorials for all the things in your goodies and objects bags? The initial tutorials will take you just far enough to get you started. There are some that are not required to begin building in your menus. Anything that you haven't yet learned about will have a question mark next to it and when you select it you are given the option of either doing a tutorial or a video. Make sure you do all of these tutorials as well. They will also give you more objects for completing them, including the lion crest sticker required for the Skate to Victory level (third in The Gardens) in order to get 100% items.

EDIT: And to acces your old tutorials hit Start and in the pause menu is an option for videos and tutorials.

Seriously?

Yes. I even have trouble with sticking things - sometimes it won't let me (just picks it up and puts it down again).

I imagine I've done some, since I have that sticker. Are they required for the Trophy?

Eeeeexcellent 👍

Um, are you trying to stick it to something? You can't just hover stuff (unless you use dark matter of course). It has to have something else to stick to. To stick or glue one object to another make sure they are touching and then when you place the one you are currently controlling hold X until it makes a sticking sound.

Yes, all tutorials that require you to do something to complete are required for that trophy. The videos however are not. Go through and select every tool and object in your bags that still has the question mark next to it until you have done them all. If you said no to any of them then it is in your pause menu list. Good luck figuring out which ones you have and haven't done in there.

Eeeeexcellent 👍
If just to listen to the sweet, soothing sounds of Stephen Fry again.

Yeah - I was making a triple-layer depth ramp. The back one stuck to the ground. The middle one stuck to the back one. The front one wouldn't stick to anything.

Make the wheel, then place two blocks on the sides of it. Turn them into gas, then make one THIN layer in the very front, and turn it to gas as well. This should suffice and work just fine :)

Big Dragon!!!!

Isn't that brilliant. It's amazing to see how everyone's inner engineer is coming out with the help of this game. :D

BTW: If you haven't already, definitely check out his exceptional LittleBigPhantasy level.

EDIT: And to acces your old tutorials hit Start and in the pause menu is an option for videos and tutorials.

Apparently I'm missing the Sticker Switch one - and in my pause menu there's only Videos and Voiceovers. Selecting the video just gives me the video (natch) and selecting the switch, replete with question mark, doesn't let me access the tutorial.

This makes me sad.

Edit: Twigged it. Popit/Tools or Goodies/More Info and you can access Tutorial. Bangin'

Still can't get my gas white though. Must drink more milk.

Edit edit: Just like last time, square is the answer. Popit/Tools/Horrible Gas/More Info! Purple is in there, white is not :(

Is one of them thinner than one plane? They may not be touching.

So guess who just joined my Sackboy collection?

White gas may be in the story mode levels somewhere.
