Logitech G25 Racing Wheel

Just wondern does the G25 steering wheel make loud noise like the Dfp and does the g25 have a faster spin rotation like when you're drifting and you need to counter steer?

I got my G25 and cockpit two weeks ago, its brilliant, i want to have a game were i can use the h pattern gears though and clutch, i suppose i will just have to wait

i havn't got a ps3(yet, it's on it's way;), lol. It is fully supported on the ps2, however it only uses 200 degree mode steering, even though underground 2 and most wanted had 900

so you think GT5 will support all of the G25's features? i mean i would be surprised if it didn't personally but would be interested to see what everyone else thinks

i think it would/should as there was a pic a little while ago of there HQ and most of there cockpits etc had G25's. They must be there for a reason so....

and also people have been claiming that there is a little read bar above the accelerator bar in gthd that comes on when taking of etc at the time a clutch would:D

The Feedback issue should be fixed soon, now Immersion and Sony have anew deal!👍
The G25 is a big leap in terms of control, its much smoother movement and larger wheel, feel much more realistic, it enables me to be more precise.
I dont have a PS3 yet in the uk, but since i got the G25 have gone back to GT4, a new, on my PS2, so far im only going through the license tests, but instantly ive found it possible to hugely improve my consistancy and times, often trouncing golds by quite large margins.(all gold first 4 licenses so ar) the quality of the wheel is matched with the vastly superior pedals, my old DFP pedals suffered regularly with the common fault, requiring much time dismantling.
The first benefit to me of the pedals is the move to right foot braking/accelerating as opposed to using both feet with the old DFP, this to me gives greater control as the lift off in moving to brake makes very subtle difference to the balance physics , the bonus is im learning to heel toe too.
The pedals are very solid, and the resistance in the brake pedal is excellent.
The forcefeedback is much better than the DFP, it doesnt feel as violent with the bigger wheel with the setting on high, and the nuances of grip balance and weight transfer are much more distinguishable to me now,ive been able to slipslide my way round the grand canyon so much better and with complete control in the slides, something i couldnt consistantly keep up with my DFP.

GTXLR - thanks very much for your assesment of the G25.👍 My apologies for nor responding sooner. Had been away for a bit. As soon as GT5 comes out I will be first in line for a copy. Need to get the PS3 also, of course, and the G25. In the meantime, I'll try to wear out my DFP. BTW, what is the "heel-toe" manouver?

Thanks again

basically it means to use your right foot to apply pressure to both the brake and the accelerator at the same time. The reason for this is to keep the engine's RPM's constant for faster acceleration out of a turn, and to put less ware on the transmission.

Obviously you do not want to be accelerating while braking, so you also use your left foot to push in the clutch.

In real life it takes a good deal of practice to master this technique, but it does improve the performance of the car while at the same time, increases the longevity of the car's transmission.

I have been using the G25 for a few weeks now and I have started to find myself somewhat disadvantaged. I follow the WRS although I don't post any lap times (don't have maxdrive). By checking official results posted by sphinx I used to find myself challenging Div 1, times however now i have the G25 i can barely beat Div 3 times. My last steering wheel was the DFP, so there is very little change in the setup for GT4. I personally think it could be because I know brake with my right foot like you normally would with a manual car.

Does anyone else find they can no longer beat there old lap times with there G25?

One art of breaking is to use right foot only when you have to downshift. Its faster to use left-foot-breaking if downsihfting is not required.

so for gt4 move the whole pedal assembly to the left so the brake lines up with your left foot etc. Feels strange at first(my heel sometimes fell of the edge) but it is a lot better in the long run(or should that be drive lol:))

Oh.My.God.

Where have I been! I did not know of this wheel until now! Dam!

I have read most of the thread, but could anyone kindly advise me on the following?

Is it compatible with GT HD and GT5?

Will it let you change gear without using the clutch? I guess the clutch feature would need to be built in the game? Will it be in GT5?

Which ready made cockpits provide a mounting for the gearstick also?

Thanks!

It is compatible with GTHD.
You can change gear without using the clutch.
You can use the paddles on the wheel, or set the gear stick to sequential mode.
The six speed transmission and clutch feature are utilised in PC games, if you set the options that way.
Try gameracer.co.uk for the cockpit, you buy the basic cockpit, plus an attachment which allows you to mount the gearstick on the left or the right.
I got a good deal from them for the seat, gear shift attachment and the wheel all together.

damn i want this so bad... i've seen people racing with it on YouTube and thought 'holy crap that'd be awesome; changing gear properly with a clutch, using the steering wheel'... man, when i can afford it, i'm buying one! any good racing games for the PC i cna buy while i'm waiting for GT5?

GTR1,2, GTlegends(same as gtr but with oldschool cars, porshe gt2's, escorts etc), gp legends(oldschool 60's,70's grand prix game). All these games have demos, just do a google search for the name with demo on the end eg GTR Demo...:)

Is the clutch a gimmick or does it work? I mean, if I dont use the clutch do the gears still change?

Only interested in GT HD and GT 5 thou.

I have gone through this whole thread. But I never saw if the Gate Shifter & Clutch will function on GTHD or GT5?

Thanks!

it dopesn't in GTHD, but it's unsure for GT5 atm. It is fully suported on nfs carbon(ps2, don't know about ps3).

Bit pointless having a clutch if the game will let you change gear without using it IMO.

Not for all games ofcourse, but I hope there is an option to implement this in GT5.

Sorry if my question is stupid... But i just to ask what's the clutch for in NFS-Carbon? I had tried my wheel on NFS-Carbon, tried changing gears without stepping the clutch in 6-gears mode and it appears to me that the clutch meaningless. Gears aren't supposed to be changed without engaging the clutch right?

Or is there a option in the game which i had missed out to activate the clutch?

ye that's the crap thing with carbon. I still use it anyway(makes it feel better and it's nice when you cruizing around.)it does engage and you can use it when taking of and cruizing to do slow shifts, and doing rolling revs up to the lights(:D). plus it makes it sound better when you change gear with the clutch aswell(engine tone). The funnest cars to cruize around in are a fully tuned carrera gt, but with a stock trans(don't no why but it lets you change quicker lol?) and the murcialago, any tune, but i like the stock engine "pulse":)
