If anyone's interested the G29 (and 920) are currently on sale in the UK at Curry's for £180

A bit more reasonable

G29

920

The shifter is on offer for £25 also

WOW! That's a much more reasonable price, very similar to what the G27 used to cost here in the UK. If you really want one, now is the time to buy I think.

I've recently managed to get hold of a Fanatec CSR, so Logitech is no longer an option for me though.

👍

Maybe the wrong thread, if so please direct me, but what are the best settings to use for Gt6!
I'm assuming that the if an update comes to Gt6 on monday, it would add support for the Logitech G29. Because currently it reads as a Dfgt on the ps3 and you can't use the clutch and shifter as the Dfgt lacks these.

I think this is a wheel limitation, not software on the part of GT6.. It does the same when used on the PC in PS3 mode.

So on pc with the switch in ps3 mode, there is no clutch or shifter?
Ah no, sorry. On the PC you install the new drivers and apparently the switch then doesn't matter: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Genera...Wheel-Review/Software-Setup-Experience-and-Co

But all information I've seen is that you basically use it as a DFGT with the PS3 switch enabled, which is presumably so that the rotating wheel can be used in game, since it means the wheel has more buttons than a G27.

Almost. 👍

The G29's shifter is not compatible with the PS3. If I recall correctly, it states it on the box and on the Logitech website. I don't know where the official limitation is, but the G29 is running on the DFGT drivers....Which is possibly because Logitech can't be bothered to make proper G29 drivers for the PS3..... Logitech don't like supporting their products on other platforms anymore.

However the 'old out-dated' (unsupported on PS4) G27 works perfectly on the PS3, clutch, shifter...everything. *

FFB for GT6 should be set to max. :) Happy days.

*yes I'm a bitter old man.

Set both sliders to 10, & ignore the "clipping brigade" who will convince you to turn them down!

👍

I don't know how much difference the FFB strength is between G25 (my wheel) and G27/29, but maxxing out both 10/10 you lose a lot of the subtleties. I used to be a big proponent of max FFB = better feel, but I've gradually turned down the settings and I'm now running at 1 strength and 10 sensitivity. Initially it feels floaty, but your muscle quickly gets used to it and you pick up lots more nuanced sensations, in addition to being able to countersteer faster.

Also, cars like the Red Bulls and Lotus 97T feels weird with FFB 10/10 with a massive deadzone in the centre and suddenly a lot of resistance 45 degree to the sides. With FFB 1/10 it's a lot more natural.

With Thrustmaster wheels higher FFB is ok, but Logitech wheels just doesn't have the dynamic range IMO.

Personally I have felt no loss of anything by turning down the FFB on my G25, except losing valuable FFB. I agree that the Red Bull cars are too heavey with that setting of 10 (karts too), but then again I hardly ever used them.

That's interesting. For me higher numbers you gain force but lose feedback, and vice versa for lower numbers. The increased resistance "feels" like feedback, but it's just white noise.

Took delivery of my G29 and shifter today. Coming from a Dfgt, I'm really impressed at the build quality of the G29. The wheel is silent and not as loud as its made out to be in those Youtube videos. Force Feedback in Project Cars needs to be tweeked a bit. I hadn't changed anything - default setup and it felt great. With the tweeking I'm sure it will feel even better. The pedals are amazing.
One happy G29 owner :)

Finally got round to hooking up my G29 but I'm not impressed.
When shifting down from say 5th to 3rd, the g29/ps4 copy of project cars won't register it whereas my G920 and project cars on xb1 will.
Mega annoying.

Has anyone else had this?

Thanks, just ordered. I don't even live in the UK so I had to use an intermediary and pay a little extra but it's still worth it IMO.

Haven't used my shifter in a while. Hooked it up today to give it a go. My down shifts all register.
Has your issue been resolved?

I haven't tried it since, just glanced at the box while I've been on the G920.
I'll hook it up over the weekend an give it a go. What game were you on? I was on pcars.

Thanks

Can someone do me a favour please and test to see if the G29 and the G29 shifter works in Daytona USA on the PS3, including able to shift gears with the shifter?

I don't have Daytona so haven't tested it on that game but the shifter is only compatible with ps4 and pc. Here is an image from the box of the shifter

As above.....

The G29 runs on the old Driving Force GT drivers on PS3. The DFGT doesn't have a shifter, hence why the G29's shifter won't work on the PS3.

Great thanks, well there goes my hopes for a wheel that supports both PS4/PS3 fully that sucks, guess I'll have to stick to my G27 for PS3 and having to lug it all off the playseat when I want to play with the T500 and PS4.

How do you order from the uk to Belgium

I don't live in Belgium, but where I'm from I found a small company that specializes in ordering and delivering goods from some European countries. Maybe there's something similar in Belgium? I just got my G920 today. :)

Unfortunately we don't have a company like that here:confused:
