I'm loving my G920. Maybe my standards aren't too high because the only other wheel I've owned was a crappy non-FFB one 10 years ago. Sometimes I grind gears when using the shifter which is weird because I never grind gears in real life. I might need to set some clutch deadzone... Have only tried Forza 6 so far. Too lazy to lug the wheel upstairs to my PC for PCARS and Assetto Corsa. :)

Funny story: Got my dad to have a go at the wheel. He drove for a bit at 40mph which made his head spin, then sped up to 50, lost control and crashed (in an AWD car mind you), and felt nauseous for the next hour. My dad is not a lot of fun... And here I am driving at 150mph like it's nothing. Heel-and-toe was also surprisingly easy to pick up. Might need to adjust the pedals a bit though.

Hi there, i've plugged my G29 in for the first time today (PS3 playing GT6) and instantly ran into a problem, the brake pedal 40% on all the time, this means I can navigate the menus perfectly fine but as soon as i'm handed the controls on track I grind to a halt. I've scoured the forums and found lots of people complaining about the rubber damper on the brake pedal but no one seems to have had the same issue as me? I had the same issue with my Driving force GT but managed to solve it after configuration. I've tried configuring the G29 controls as a Driving force GT but it still disagrees. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated?!

Sounds like he might suffer from simulator sickness, just like Michael Schumacher does.

Now I'm trying to get it to work with Windows 10 but my PC won't recognize it. What gives? The wheel calibrates itself and the light glows and then... nothing. The "firmware update" won't detect the wheel either.

I think I may not have any USB 2.0 ports. Does the thing not work with USB 3.0?
My wheel just didn't work correctly. Specifically on PCARS the wheel would at least calibrate but when I got onto the track it wouldn't respond to inputs, or was stuttering, like on/off/on/off.

You probably do have a USB 2, maybe at the back of the PC.

Does the wheel work on the PS3/4 as normal? That would at least eliminate a fault with the wheel itself.

Do you need to change the mode switch for use on the PC? I'm not sure what you have on the G29, but the Thrustmaster T300 has a mode switch, so I guess that the G29 probably has too!

Mine's the G920 actually. It works fine on Xbox One and there's no switches on it. I actually don't think it's a USB issue anymore. I got it to show up as "Xbox Game Controller" in Device Manager but the Logitech Game Software still wouldn't detect it. I manually upgraded the driver to the (seemingly) correct G920 one by pointing it to the Logitech Game Softare folder which had a lot of drivers in it. However, even after doing that, the Logitech Software still doesn't detect it even though it now says G920 in Device Manager.

I wonder if it's because of the latest Windows 10 update which introduced a lot of changes, seems like a Service Pack.

Hmmmm...I can't believe I'm actually thinking this, but here goes.

With the G29 & shifter at just £185 from Curry's, this is becoming a viable option for me to consider now. I could sell my G25 for £85, & sell my Fanatec GT2 for about the same, & it will cost me practically nothing to upgrade to a fully compatible PS4 wheel. I don't really want to play Project BUGS anymore, so I'm thinking of doing this mainly for DRIVECLUB. Not sure though, as I'm still hacked off at Dogitech & thier disgusting marketing/pricing strategies. However, now the price has been cut in half by Curry's, that's no longer such an issue.

That's where I bought my G920 from. Seems like a pretty decent wheel for the price. Just make sure you're not on Windows 10 if you're planning on using it for PC as well...

You do realize that both Sony and Microsoft would have charged Logitech a fairly substantial platform fee for these wheels?

I use my G920 on windows 10, and it works fine. The only issue I have is the lack of options in the Logitech Gaming software. Seriously, I can change more options on my G502 gaming mouse than I can the G920 through the GUI. I can change things manually in the files for the wheel driver though.

Realistically however, I still use my G27 for the PC. The software is better, more options, and just plain ease of use. Plus I only bought the G920 to use on the Xbox one with Forza, and any other racing game that may come along that takes my interest.

And before anyone asks, I didn't go with the TX wheel, as I had owned on prior to buying the G27. The TX wheel broke within 6 months, Thrustmaster refused to fix or replace the wheel. Luckily Amazon, even after 6 months of ownership, sent out a replacement wheel themselves. This was dead on arrival though, so ended up with a full refund. It is a once bitten twice shy situation for me with regards to Thrustmaster. I wouldn't touch a madcatz wheel, even if it was given to me for free. And the Fanatec is just way too far out of my price range to even be considured.

I'm sort of in the same boat but more because I feel like I've been backed into a corner in regards to moving to current gen racing series and that I can't win the fight as the transition to PS4 is getting faster.

I'll probably make a decision on what to do in the next couple of months. My arm can only be twisted behind my back so much.

Did you do the latest Windows update? The big one that required multiple restarts? I did it and I can't get my G920 to work on PC (haven't tried before the update though).

I am a windows insider, have been long before windows 10 released, so I am always running on the latest development builds.

Did Windows automatically find drivers for it when you first plugged it in? I can't get the damn thing to show up in the Logitech Gaming Software.

Yep, I just plug it into a USB 2.0 port at the back of my PC and windows detects it. It also shows up in the Logitech gaming software.

It doesn't work with USB 3.0? Blue ones are USB 3.0 and black ones are 2.0, right? I have both kinds, and neither work. What should I do? :(

Best thing I can suggest is to plug the wheel into a USB 2.0 port (the black ones), open up windows device manager, and uninstall the drivers for the wheel from there. Then unplug the wheel and uninstall any logitech gaming software you have, restart your pc, and start again from scratch.

With the G27 you had to install the drivers/software first, and only plug the wheel in when told to do so by the installation process. I already had the modern Logitech Gaming software installed because of owning a Logitech G502 gaming mouse (the same software is used for my mouse and the G920 wheel). So all I did was plug the G920 wheel into one of the USB 2.0 ports and windows recognized the wheel right away. I would suggest installing the Logitech Gaming Software first, and then plug the wheel in.

Looks like this worked, thanks. :) Now hopefully there won't be any FFB issues with my games...

I do play Assetto Corsa and had heard about the oscillation issue before but didn't know about the fix. Thanks again! Eager to try the game with a wheel for the first time!

Go for it 👍

Interesting that at least in this country the G29 is no cheaper than the T300 anywhere (best G29 price is €330, T300RS for €310, T300 Ferrari Integral set €370).

If the G29 was around €200 it would be a good purchase. But not when it's only a few euros cheaper than the T300 with the 30cm alcantara rim.

To be fair, I think that the UK are only seeing the G29 considerably cheaper thanks to Currys/PCworld (same company) sales. I do wonder whether sales have been rather slow for them, therefore they're chucking them out at cheap prices to clear the stock levels a bit. Whatever the reason, it's a good price for the consumer and I can see why it would be tempting for people (@VBR). There is no denying that Logitech have a great history of making reliable gaming wheels, the G25/27 took some abuse and they still are doing. OK, so the technology might be 'old hat' now, but it still works just fine.

Personally speaking, I'm still not touching Logitech products for the foreseeable future. The way in which Logitech conducted themselves was very poor and they certainly didn't look after their customers........ yes there was a non-disclosure agreement in the mix somewhere, but nobody actually knows what that was all about. So as far as I'm concerned, Logitech didn't handle the situation very well and they could have been much more open and honest.

I won't be buying Thrustmaster either. I can't understand how on earth they are getting so many failures, even now, wheels are being RMA'd. Surely Thrustmaster should have ironed out the quality/reliability issues by now?

This current gen of consoles (PS4/Xbone) have so far been rather disappointing for me. I'm quite happy gaming on the PC instead.

Well you can... But you'll hate yourself in the morning. it's a good wheel for that money mate. I paid £180 for mine. I'm happy with it.

That's an enviable statement (one I can't manage because I love Gran Turismo too much). Is there room in your life for a direct drive wheel? :mischievous:

Direct drive wheels are not really an option for me at the moment, plus I have a G27 which simply refuses to break and I'm determined to get my moneys worth out of it. :D I would love to try one.

I was hooked on Gran Turismo too, I bought every GT game and have played them all a huge amount. But, for me, Gran Turismo has lost its spark, the single player is next to useless unless I use a really crappy underpowered car and attempt to win against much faster machinery.....but even then, the AI are just pathetic.

In comparison, Project Cars (AKA Project Bugs) has a great AI, they are challenging to drive against and will fight for position and also maintain their position too. Some of my PCars races against the AI have really made me race hard. That said, the AI do have their issues, they will dive bomb, they do swerve a bit too much at the start of a race and their grip levels leave a bit to be desired. But on the whole, they are soooo much better than the GT AI.

I do miss some parts of GT, some of the road cars were actually nice, the online options were good too, but PD need to wake up and produce something incredibly special for the PS4 because the competition is so much stronger than ever before. If the evolution of the GT series continues at its current pace, then PD/Kaz should just give it up now.

I've never played Asseto Corsa before, but that's apparently a great sim racer, which will be coming to the consoles too, so that's another great alternative to GT assuming that they can port the game across successfully. That will be an interesting game for sure. We've also got PCars2 in the making as well.

For me, PC gaming is just better. I have a comfortable chair, a nice screen and access to a great library of games. All peripherals seem to work (so far) and compatibility is unlikely to be an issue in the near future and even if it was, I'm confident that someone within the PC gaming community will design a piece of software to get around the problem. A good example is the PCars crew chief app, that's a great addition and a vast improvement over the original in game offering. It's advantages like those that we can't get on the consoles, because Sony/Microsoft want complete content control and money for everything.

In my opinion, console manufacturers are getting far too greedy.

OMG...that's an essay. Oops. :(

If you play assetto Corsa, then there is a file you need to edit in the game to disable damping on the wheel. With this setting at its default, you get massive oscillation of the wheel while at a stand still.

http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/i...ssive-oscillation-issue-post-1-2.25416/page-2

No FFB though?... It oscillates without the fix but there's no FFB with the fix. Is there anything else I have to configure? I'm using the Assetto Corsa preset for LGS, and the G920 preset for Assetto Corsa.

Project CARS works perfectly though.

We're so off topic now, but as a PC racer you owe it to yourself to at least invest in the following:
Assetto Corsa, DiRT Rally, rFactor 2, RaceRoom (ADAC 2014 pack is a good starting point, or DTM 2015), pCARS, and at least try a 1 month trial of iRacing. That way you can experience the good things all of the, have to offer.

As for Gran Turismo... I'm in the opposite boat. I started off as a PC racer, then jumped in to GT5p, GT5 and GT6 plus Forza 3&4 on the last gen consoles (ah for a single multiplatform wheel like the Fanatec GT2). For me the car fan stuff (collecting, adding parts, taking awesome pictures) is where PC will never compete, and is reason enough to have a simple console setup alongside the serious gaming PC.
