T300rs It Is - Tough decision to make on my new wheel. Logitech G29 or Thrustmaster T300rs. I read many reviews and posted questions on gtplanet for feedback. Both had many good reviews and some bad ones. Both companies seem to have bad customer service for those with problems. Both wheels seem to have quality issues for some players. The G29 seems to have more problems than the T300rs due to the wiring harness breaking that connects the wheel to the base due to it turning and breaking the connections. Logitech replies on their own website seem to be just canned "Sorry your having problems" reponse. If I went with the G29 I would have to buy a new racing chair since the G29 pedal base will not fit my rig. Another $579 for the Gran Turismo Playseat I wanted. So I went with the Thrustmaster T300rs. The one I really wanted anyway. I like the way it looks better and it's a 2-pedal set instead of a 3 pedal set for the G29. Picked it up for $299.00 on Amazon Prime Day and it will fit the seat I have now. So it arrives today and hoping the one I get will serve me well like the Logitech Driving Force GT has over the years since the PS2 and GT4.

Update:
Had the T300rs a couple of days now. I like it. Very different from the DFGT. Wheel base is heavier. Pedal base fit perfect on the base I had. I did not do a side by side comparison but seems like the footprint front to back is a little shorter than the DFGT. Pedals are a big improvement over the DFGT. The angle of the pedals tilt forward more. They are harder to press than the DFGT so I find myself pressing the brake with the pressure I am used to only to realize that I am not applying break at all. When I do mash the brakes I am slowing down more on corner entry and not over shooting. Improvement already. Because of the force needed to depress the brake and gas, the pedal base lifts up from the bottom causing it to move. I had to use the mounting holes on the bottom to secure it to the metal plate. Works awesome now. Will take some time to get used to it. The wheel is the same diameter of the DFGT. The D-Pad is smaller and closer the the center so you have to stretch your left thumb over to reach it. Again just a matter of time to get used to it. The quality of the wheel seems good. Very solid. Nice metal rim. Paddle shifters feel solid and have a nice click to them when depressed. The force feedback is also different. Very smooth and quiet. I do not feel the lateral forces like I did in the DFGT however when I was driving my car today I noticed it felt more like a real car. Some say the force feedback is stronger than the DFGT. I don't know if it is much stronger but it feels very different. I don't run a lot of force feedback anyway due to the arthritis it my wrists and thumb joints. The USB cable is shorter than the DFGT cable so I had to move the rig closer to the TV. I have sent an e-mail to Thrustmaster to see if it will work OK with a USB extension cable. My DFGT did not like being connected to a USB extension cable and did not work correctly. Over all I think after time I will adapt to the new sensations and I feel it will make me a better driver.

Picked up a G29 to replace my DFGT with GranTurgismo Paddles, in readiness for GT Sport
The pedal upgrade alone is by far worth the money.

The FFB in GT6 is somewhat different compared with the GT6, nowhere near as violent, so much quieter in operation and the sensitivity of feeling small changes in grip is much better.
Not as heavy though, I like heavy steering.

It's a pity that the G29 doesn't use G27 drivers on the PS3 for functionality of the clutch and shift-lights.
But I haven't had them before, so don;t miss them.

All in all a nice upgrade,

^^ The pedals were decent on the G27 too, the G29 ones have a better brake pedal (equivalent to the G27 brake mods) and my own G27 pedals have taken some real abuse. đź‘Ť

How does the price compare in AUS between the G29/T300?

I got the G29 for under $400 in a proper store, 100m from my Office

Best Local store price on a T300RS is $599
Best Online price is about $550 with freight.

But for that cost, where's the clutch?

My thoughts exactly.

The G29 pedals appear to be far better than the standard T300 ones, so to get a decent T300 setup I'd have to buy the T3PA or T3PA-Pro pedals which aren't exactly cheap. I don't doubt that the T300 has better force feedback, but the price is too high, especially when I would want a clutch pedal and a shifter.

That's why it's great if you already have a G25 or G27. Just spend $20 for an adapter.

@TEX36 this would be the place to find out:

A question to all who have the G-29 Logitech Wheel:
1) Is the brake pedal sufficiently progressive? As is the GT-EYE.
2) If insufficient, can the GT-EYE Spring be used in the G-29 brake pedal assembly?

Appreciate any and all comments.

Hopefully you will get some great feedback in here

IMHO, the G29 Pedal is excellent,
when you initially press it with a normal amount of force, you get around 80% braking strength,
the last 20% of brake is very stiff as the rubber stopper compresses.

In GT6 with ABS off, I struggle to lock the brakes now on the G29, and only if I'm braking very hard into that last part of the pedal travel.
If I am braking at 100%, when I feel the steering FFB go light when the brakes have locked,
easing the pedal back out of the stopper, but still keeping enough pressure on maintains sufficient braking and unlocks the wheel.
It seems very well calibrated to me and my driving style, compared with the DFGT

I agree with the above. I was coming from a G27 to the G29 and the brake pedal is much more stiff and precise.

Side-note:
I was just looking up a pre-order for Assetto Corsa on Amazon and saw the G29 is $287 with free shipping right now in the US. List price is $400 so a pretty good deal.

Hi, I am planning to buy Logitech g29, I know it supports Pc, PS3/PS4, however is there any way to connect it to X1 as well (or other way around, even if the shifter doesn't it'll be fine as long as the wheel works and the shifter paddles).
I know there is available 3rd party switch for g27 to make it work on ps3/x360. I know you have g920 for X1, but getting two products is somewhat pointless. Also, do you know if the current products G29/G920 will support PS Neo and Xbox Scorpio (Well, they should since the new consoles will still be running the same software). I just want to look slightly ahead. Thanks.

So I was using my G29 with the default settings on project cars. Next thing I know I have smoke coming out of the vents at the top.

I have already contacted Logitech but has any experienced anything like this?

Where you get it from? (I just ordered one with a warranty recently.)

I ordered from Amazon. I have a warranty through them and Logitech. Gunna try to put in a claim on Amazon because Logitech won't return my email and their support page wouldn't load yesterday

They should back it up sufficently, its probably a motor malfunction.

I found the best and easy way is to phone Logitech than an Email đź‘Ť.

Hello G29 users,

Here's my situation, I have owned G25/27 and now 29. I have sold the 25 which i regret but kept my G27.
The logitech wheels are great entry level steering wheels and happen to be easily accessible in my country compared to way overpriced few rare thrustmaster wheels that i saw in the local market.

I went to the finals of GT academy 2014 using my G27. About a year ago i decided to invest heavily in Simracing now with a proper rig ( remember that circular rig used in the GT academy national finals and showcasing? Yes i have this as my daily rig!)

The spiking pedals and the lack of feel is what kills the logitech experience. I want to upgrade to a much higher load cell equiped pedals, not on the brake only i want load cells on all 3 pedals. Fanatec V3's provide that. My only problem is even though now I'm more of a hardcore PC simracer my heart resides with GT. I need a high end pedals to work on PS4 for GTS.

My research led to the following:

Base: keep the G29 or buy a T300RS servo Only (for a much better ffb feel on PC) or wait for thrustmaster new DD wheel

Pedals: Fanatec V3's or a mod that allows high end PC sim racing pedals like heusinkvelt or Protosimtec to work with a base that works on PS4.

Basherboard Mod to keep the compatibility.

TH8A shifter for H pattern.

What do you suggest guys?

So guys, something interesting happened with a friend of mine. He races this championship with me:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxFL4XWrWXXhZrulCfbZUzg

He was tranning with his 10 months old G29 and he had hit the walls hard with his GT3 car, after the collision his G29 starts to move to one side to another. He unplugged the wheel and plugged it again, but the wheel couldn't calibrate itself.
It really reminds me of how my T300 broke. There's is this theory that maybe PCars are the one to blame about all those broke T300. And the a similar thing happened to a G29 owner.

What do you guys think? Coincidence? Bad lucky? Or the game has some kind of buggy code that make these wheels break?

You could be right that PCars is causing the trouble. I have encountered many instances where a the FFB would rattle uncontrollaby and get really loud as soon as I turned the wheel in a certain direction. This commonly happens when I restart a session and sometimes when I start a session as well. I believe when this occurs it damages the internals of the wheel, so I just exit the application. There is also a issue where if the PS4 console would go into sleep mode that the wheel could lose FFB. Never have I encountered so many issues with wheel FFB/calibration.

Or as always it could just be the manufacturer's fault in not making the wheel durable to handle the FFB of the game over time, like most people claim...

My next question is to this thread is what other minor/major troubles have people encountered with this wheel, my G29 is very new and even though Logitech G wheels are typically durable, you can never truly trust this steering wheel gaming market...

Has anyone had problems with the wheel mounted shifter paddles with their G29? The upshift paddle on my G29 wheel seems to work intermittent. Doesn't matter if I do it gently or harder.

So I picked up a used G29 today for $200 and I have a question regarding using it with GT6. Obviously the game doesn't have separate settings for this wheel, so how does it recognize it? As a G27? I changed the button assignments on G27 #1 and they didn't actually change on the wheel.

DFGT.

I'm really hope that I'm not only one.
I bought G920 and Xbox One.
I tried Forza 5 with G920, i did bit drift for fun and my wheel force feedback is strong violate is that normal? I never seen like that since I own G27 and G29 it is only forza or that wheel? I want to know and don't want to worry too much haha. Thanks.
