Not sure myself, but UEFA and FIFA have always recognised that Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland have separate Football Associations and leagues etc., so allow them to compete separately in world football... Team GB was actually pretty controversial - the Scottish and Welsh FAs did not want it to happen, but I personally couldn't fathom what the fuss was about. That said, there were precious few Scottish players involved - but the Welsh players involved were among the best in the team (Bellamy and Giggs).

Scotland now struggle to qualify for any big tournaments, and Wales have never qualified for a major tournament - but arguably it is better to try than to be guaranteed no participation by being part of a British team that is almost exclusively English...

Wales got to the quarter finals in the 1954 World Cup actually. I think they have wasted a lot of opportunities with the players they have. I would prefer to support a GB team in a major tournament than no team although it will never happen.

Bale and Ramsey would both be in a proper team GB I would say, can't say the same for Scotland atm but I was surprised Banananananan wasn't in the olympic squad.

It was the 1958 world cup Tyrellracing!!!!!!!!

Im shocked that you got that wrong!!!:boggled::irked:

It would be great to watch if NBC didn't suck and I could actually stream it.

Radio listening.

If by "it," you mean any imaginable sport I (and presumably others) would like to watch, then yes.

My opinion of NBC has drastically declined because of these Games. They had 4 years to prepare, and there's something wrong with almost everything. I'm just shocked they're getting good ratings from the primetime..

Kirani James just won Grenada's first ever Olympic medal by taking Gold in the Men's 400m Final...

The Borlee twins, the first pair of twins to appear in an Olympic athletics final, finished just 0.02 seconds apart...

And Chris "4th" Brown..... was 4th.

So, we were given a free kick inside the 18 because your goalie held it too long?

There's a 6 second limit officially, but I've never seen anyone penalised for going over it...

I didn't know you could have a free kick with a wall inside the box.

The announcer said that much. Just following the box score, we might want to mark Sinclair a little closer.

Oh. I've heard the term, never knew what it meant.

It's called an indirect free-kick, they're rare, but they do happen.

Happened against me a few times before.. Nearest was about 7 yards from goal.. The wall had to stand on the line so I had to have two walls, 1 either side of me..

From what I understand (not much admittedly), Sinclair is basically the whole team.

Well done to Antony Ogogo! through to the boxing semi and is now guaranteed at least a bronze!!

Yay... after Holly Bleasdale missed out on a medal, it was nice to see her Subway ad buddy guarantee himself atleast a bronze!
