No it wasn't sarcasm. Its very rare police shoot people in this country, particularly shoot to kill so he must have done something serious for them to do so.

Jean Charles de Menezes?

Birmingham is now being smashed to little bits. Primark, Adidas Shop, and a pub are the first casualties. Lots more windows are being smashed.

EDIT: Now Croydon. Jesus.

That said, It is not that surprising that Hackney and other parts have kicked off. While there are legitimate grievances - with the police, with the government, with society and life in general - to be aired, there is also plenty of scope for this kind of thing to happen i.e. something as trivial as a stop and search turning into a full scale riot (which is what has allegedly happened in Hackney today). There is any number of troublemakers spoiling for a fight... why is that? Poverty? A sense of hopelessness for the future? A popular culture that constantly reinforces the misguided belief that no effort is required to make it in life? It's probably a bit of all of those things...

QFT. There's the attitude that immature people have in which they believe that actions committed in mobs is somehow okay and actually makes some sort of statement, because they generally don't get caught. And if they do get caught...oh snap, "it's a police state".

If you shoot a cop in the United States, you will have force met with much-more force. And riots, occasionally...but it does illustrate that it is quite possible for even a disorganized group of hellraisers can make a mess that's extremely difficult to snuff out, so as long as the group is sufficiently large enough.

Croydon is on fire now.

Jeez.

If I see my home town is wrecked when I'm on holiday many people will be lost in the destruction I leave. Bearing in mind my town is on the border to the Borough of Croydon.

They can put out the bloody flame before they run in with it.

Don't tempt fate.

He must have had a gun pointed at them and refused to follow instructions.
I'm sure that is the reason police shoot.

The only story I know regarding police shooting is about a young man near me who got killed by police when he was out carrying an air rifle and threatened the local police with it, when marksmen came they shouted at him, he pointed the air rifle at them, he was then shot with a soft metal bullet and died from severe internal injuries.
The police thought it was a sniper rifle.
It was determined a lawful killing by a jury.
The soft bullet was also within regulations when asked why a hard bullet was not used which would pass through the body and not cause as severe injuries.

My mum used to have a black one... :indiff:

Also to be specific it's in West Croydon, probably why I don't recognize where the fire actually is...I was expecting East Croydon with a London-Brighton express service just sitting there in a blazing inferno :nervous:

Just realised about the riots and I'm at the McDonalds drive thru! They ain't gonna come between me and my McNuggets that's for sure!

 Seems a lot of my friends are caught up in this :ill:

Wasn't that situation a little different from the norm. It was related to the intelligence department ( don't they have a licence to kill anyone they like, or is that just Bond?), anyway was terrorism related and there was background. But it was a mistake in the end.

Rumors on my Facebook that riots are coming to Bromley at 9:30 tonight...seriously, 🤬 sleeping tonight.

Although they probably won't actually happen knowing my friends

Apparantley it's hit Leeds now.

At what point do you declare a state of emergency.

Fire services are stretched, that's even if they can get near.

Police can't cover all areas.

Send the troops in and kick some ass.

I can well imagine troops on the street by morning.

A lot of our windows are smash proof because of drunken louts!

Also, rumours are out there of rioting coming to the town right next to mine very soon :scared::scared:

I was supposed to be going to see my brother in london tomorrow and stay up there, me thinks I will stay at home. He lives in Dalston, and their local Tesco has been ransacked and all the shops are shut.
