the main problem witht he GTF is the fact that we had 12000+ members, and 3 quarters of them never posted once. it's a lot of wasted space. you get the people who post once, newbies who ask a question that's alreayd been asked. then you get the people who post just so they can raise they're post count. i used to be like that, but i try and post meaningful stuff, and try to be funny (usually failing on both counts). this board has less people, which makes it easier to understand for poeple to read posts.
we always used to get the useless posts, but a good majority of them were useless. when i first joined back in '99, it was really good, ew could all talk to each other like a proper forum. but now, there's first, second and third degree flaming, people posting something with no meaning, topics going off-topic as quickly as you can say "arse", and this is ruining the board. i'm not sure whether i'm going to go back there at the mo, i like this one.
the GTP forums, i admit, isn't used to the sheer amount of intake of users, but at the GTF, what's just happened to you happens to us every day.
think of it this way. bout 100 people joining at once. not good, i know. blame the people who invited us to this board
the posts which do take up most of the first page is the "status" threads. oh look, i have 3000 posts. oh look, i'm in the top 69 posters. oh look, the GTP is over 100,000 posts. is this really necessary? it's wading through all these posts which made the demise of the GTF.
