OHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!! IM 16THHH YUHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu I CAN PARTICIPATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im confused lol i thought the Bs were out.... only the numbered 1-15s are racing?

Here's a quick onboard I uploaded before I took off for work. It's the lap that got me pole:

Thanks, that was great to see. 👍
I love it when I watch a lap replay and go "oh he's doing everything I'm doing just a bit better". Oddly reassuring to know my instincts are correct just being let down by talent. Same story as GT-Academy; my braking just isn't good enough.

This, unfortunately. In order to help with lag issues, we're trying to limit it to 14/15 people a race. However, I'll talk to Wardez about it.

Please make sure you are doing everything possible to have the best connection to the servers

This includes (but is not limited to):

Disabling media servers on your PS3.
Turning off all p2p file transferring programs (Limewire, Soulseek, etc.)
Turning off all BitTorrent programs (uTorrent)
Turning off all live streams
Feel free to add to this list, as well.

Here's our 15 starters:

Sorry Johny we don't race a full grid due to issues with lag at the start. We're pushing it with 15 already. You're first on the wait list though so if someone doesn't show (good chance) I'll send you a message on PSN. Just stay available.

I was just about to make a room early to test connections. You still want me to go for it, or should I wait?

Oh go ahead man, just though I'd get a small jump on it. No one's in my room right now so it'd be better if you just started it now.

OFFICIAL RACE ROOM:

1472-6681-3716-3558-9242

A few things to note (I'll go over these again before we start):

Be very careful in the first few turns. Nobody wants their race to end that early. It's a very long race.

If you do spin off the track, please wait until there is an opening before you rejoin thbe track. Somebody did this last week, and ended up backing right into oncoming traffic, giving them damage.

Please take the draft into consideration for your braking points. ;)

Race checklist:
  • Do your oil change and chassis maintenance.
  • Remember to set your transmission higher for the race draft.
  • Make sure your connection's solid by clearing your network cache and disabling all downloads, torrents, streams or otherwise on your network in order to make this a happy race.
  • Memorize your starting position and please do your best to confirm your position during our pre-race grid line-up.
  • Have fun, not war.

And a word to the new dudes:

Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean
Race clean

Seriously, no dive-bomb pass attempts.

trust me im no noob to online its usualy me getting taken out lol ;)

Edit: WOOO number 1001 :D

Okay, so those problems were my fault.

My power just shut off for a second.

I'll make a new room as soon as GT5 loads again.

stupid effing gt5... :grumpy:
no high beams in a race that is 99% night; impossible.
Every time in the 6 months i've been playing this silly game the head lamps always come on in high-beam so I never bothered to waste valuable button real estate on the (2??) button(s) for them. But wtf this race my lights pop on (on lap 1 wtf guys, thought there was supposed to be a transition not just a night race? why not just start it at night?) in low beam and I had no way to switch on the good lights because gran turismo's menus suck so much I cant just go into the pit an fix it... I have to drop the whole effing race.
aaaaahhhhhhhh! what a waste of a week.
</rant>

It's only night for the first third. I set it so it ends at the same time it starts. Not 99% night.

Looks like you prematurely ragequit.

As for me, I just have the ****tiest luck in the world. My mom decided to TURN OFF THE ROUTER!

Honestly, that pissed me off so much. So now I'm sitting here, having to watch my own Daytona 500, instead of being in there, actually racing up front for the lead.

Amazing.

UNOFFICIAL RACE RESULTS:

1. Wiifreak
2. EERS4YEARS
3. GTP_Johny
4. brandofo
5. BrosifDuder
6. NEPALII

10. paulmac2k9
11. Eeronmm

NEPALII got the fastest lap with a 2:09.2

I wasn't able to save the replay due to my internet being shut off, but brando will send me the file in a couple of hours.

-All OLR Rules are to apply here.

-If you have an issue with another driver, please send them a PM. If you cannot reach an agreement, contact a Race Steward
The last 3 races I've done in this series have not followed these two rules.
Other than pretentious diarrhea mouths the race was fun. 👍
One step up the podium would've been more fun. :sly:

eesh that sucks man.
If you were going to compress time so much that 24 hours turns into 2 why on earth did you start it at night? Lap 1 cold tire crazyness at night?? No idea why you didn't start it in the morning so the night would be in the middle.
My problem was all with the headlights though. Never would have made it 1 lap let alone 10 being blind.

I didn't mean for it to turn to night that quickly. I took too much time with getting everyone gridded and stuff, and when I realized that the light was quickly fading, it was too late.

There's things you didn't follow according to the OLR either Dapp. You've got to understand that we're running off the spirit of the OLR, but not totally as the OLR was made specifically for officially GTP sanctioned events.

There's rules in there that I'm sure you'd love followed to the T, but do you really want all of them? For instance, the rule that suggests that if battling in a group and one of the drivers has an off that all drivers must wait for him to get back on track. Really?

I'll admit we don't clearly go through every single stipulation saying what exactly applies and what does not but we shouldn't have to do that, it's common sense.

Instead of trying to go into specifics about each rule we want to cover the major theme of the OLR which is sportsmanship and adaptation. Since the variables of GT5 can surprise you track to track to car to person we don't need to rely on a brick set of rules to sort us out but ourselves. If that makes us seem like we're not following rules than we're guilty as charged. But good luck finding that any where.

Other than that, we can't control people's mouths. We try to keep people courteous and in-line but you know people. After a race people are filled with all kinds of emotions so you can always expect some one to blow up.

I respected your decision to not want to get cozy with the bumpers but you do realize it made it a hell of a lot more frustrating for people around you.

First off, I feel bad for Wardez, Mule, and Watson. Two disconnects and trouble with the headlights. I had been worried about disconnecting myself and I thought the headlight thing was related to too much drafting will break them.

The lag was bad on my end for the first 10 laps and then it almost got better by the end of the race. I think I might have hit someone from behind at the start and I had to back off. Everyone was going gung-ho around me and I got shuffled to the rear. I started crawling back up and I was about 6 seconds back working pretty well with Mule when he disconnected. I saw him flying through Ford chicane and went up three spots before he left. I'm surprised he didn't end up hitting me.

After that, I was barely holding on to the pack's draft (Mule and I were catching up to it) and I ended up having a small off at the Esses which ended any hopes for a good finish. No matter how well I drove, I ended up going 40 seconds behind the leaders until I caught up to Aliens and we gained about 10 seconds by the time we finished.

I'll be quite honest with everyone here. I really wanted to quit 2/3 of the way through but I didn't.

@Plate88 - I guess you don't have a button mapped to toggle your highbeams? You were driving the entire night with only your lowbeams on.

I think you have GT5 confused with Project Gotham Racing 2. :)

I am glad you didn't quit. 👍

great race everyone and an awesome finish as usual at la sarthe. i just sent the replay to mule so he can have a look at the incidents.

I wanted to quit after 10 laps because it was ridiculous how you cant race alone, loosing 4 seconds per lap. I am not happy bump drafting, was so hard to keep the car straight and the only guy who was left to work with did not want to cooperate so it was really frustrating. I did not quit simply because i did practice a lot but all in all it was useless as you cant go fast alone.

I am sorry but a night to forget...

looks like 1:24's, probably 1:23's for pole at Trial Mountain next week. i put in a solid 1:25:xxx during practice. after figuring out how to tune out the instability the undulating nature of the track gives this short wheel base car.

to be honest, i vastly underestimated the skill a lot of you guys have going well into the race and maintaining control of your car. so far i've qualified middle of the pack in the two weeks i've been involved but couldnt translate that into race performance for the life of me. i didnt have the transmission set properly for LeMans, otherwise i wouldnt have backed out, and would have been much more competitive considering my qualifying position.

I have no one to blame but myself for a bad race. Past two races I've been in, I have been my own worst enemy. I was just riding in the draft and and wasn't even thinking about getting out front. I did get hit by mule's car when he disconnected and got put into the gravel. Then spun out in the Porshe curves. Then completely missed braking point going into Mulsanne chicane on the next lap. Hope I missed everyone. I turned it to the inside line and believe ran through without hitting anyone. After all that my race was done by lap 10. Pretty boring race from my perspective.

Not being in draft was wearing the tires out a lot more. So I had to do 2 stops, which killed my race also. So, not a good race at all. I felt like outlaw, just wanted it to be over.

Sorry outlaw for not working with you. I had just pitted and was so pissed at myself for stupid mistakes I had made. My mind was in the red and wasn't thinking right.

Seems the more I race this car the worse I get with it.

Congrats to Wii and all the front runners. Sounded like it was a good time.

@brosif. I may have only had low beams on. I don't know? Never raced at night in GT5 before so I probably did. Dammit. Oh well.

my race was a disaster straight from lap1 i made sure not to hit things infront but i think Johny bumped me a couple of times then made a stupid dive at the dunlop chicane hit me in the side then slamed into brando? (orange car) and spun them out which caused most of us to take avoiding action and resulted in a few rear enders and i never seen him slow and wait of the car he spun off. then i screwed up on the brakes into the mulsane chicane luckily i manged to not skid into anyone :dunce: then my race was pretty well buggered from there on in i was resigned to fighting in the lower group until being hit off by eeronmm at indianapolis? roughly lap 8 ish maybe then i ran the whole race until the last 3 laps on my own.
a shame but oh well theres allways next race ;)

I am glad you didn't quit. 👍
I convinced myself that I was going to catch up to someone eventually (I did catch up to Aliens) and that there was going to be a few that will run out of fuel (I took extra gas as a precaution).

What really made this a bad day is that there was only one pit stop made. My car had been adjusted for two and the car was terrible to drive the last 3 laps of both stints. Worse off, since I was running on my own much of the time, my tire wear was worse.

Wish I was around to help. My track map is set so that I only see the immediate cars around me so I didn't know if you close enough.

Don't worry about it. Looked like the field was so far ahead, we would have needed to bump draft perfectly for about 15 laps.

If anyone proposes an endurance race at Le Mans again, I'll be the first one to shoot it down.

(...except if it's an LMP car)

im so sorry i couldn't make the race guys i layed down on the couch which wasnt the smartest move so i'll try for next week on the other hand if the race was as eventful as everyone says it was im glad as me being the furthest away wouldnt have helped the lag issues but still wouldve been interesting to participate
