Bandwagon A's fans. That's cute.

No need to specify. Happens everywhere. My local rugby league team - horrible most of the year, win 9 from 10 to finish, make the playoffs and then everyone is a fan.

Epic choke in the last 2 weeks by Texas too. I dont like their chances against either NY or BAL

I don't get it, haven't the Yankees already clinched by tiebreakers regardless of whether they win or lose? I'm so confused!

Stephen Drew is on that team now, been a fan of him forever. Bob Melvin was in AZ for a while, lots of AZ players come & go from Oakland.

No bandwagon fan here. Not to mention, I'm always the "little guy" so I root for them too. :sly:

Can't wait for the postseason. Known for half the season that the Jays wouldn't make the playoffs (again) so I'm not at all frustrated about it

Should be an awesome month.

Paid the $4 for the MLB.tv subscription just so I could watch the A's game today. :P

Anyone know if all the playoff games/world series are available with that subscription?

I did that(rather tried), they took my money, gave me no games, and MLB wouldn't respond to my request for refund.

Thankfully, the payment was through PayPal, so I finally got my money back through dispute. PayPal sent dispute info to MLB, and they wouldn't respond PayPal either. Lazy mother truckers.

Cabrera got it! He wins the triple crown, the first to do so since Carl Yestremski in 1967.

And how many national reporters are there to document the scene?

Three. Such a shame.

I don't know which is more amazing. The fact that it took nearly fifty years for another player to achieve this accomplishment(👍), or how underwhelming the coverage of the triple crown chase has been.

He probably caught the general media on the hop because he hasn't been at the top of the triple crown categories all year (especially the HR list). He was nowhere at the All-star break HR wise, and even in the last 30 days, he hit 6 more than Hamilton.

First HITTING Triple Crown in 45 years. There have been 10 Triple Crowns since 1967 (and two of them in 2011). :dopey:

Lefthander Outfielder Baserunning Triple Crowns from the Central Time Zone don't create much interest or have any historical significance whatsoever.

MLB TV has been covering it so much I got sick of it...

I thought Miggy played Third Base, or did I miss the inside joke?

That's right. Kershaw had a pitcher's triple crown last season (Wins, ERA, Ks). :sly:

And don't listen to that BJBEOSmitty guy, he gets all of his notable sports news from ESPN. ;)

Been an interesting year with some different contending teams. Nice job by the Nationals to get out of the cellar and have an amazing season. I still feel bad for the Pirates, though. And nice job Cabrera on the triple crown. I can only hope he did it legitimately without the help from HGH or something similar.

Finally, go Redlegs!

Bobby V has been fired.

From day 1 in Spring Training, I knew that this would happen. Barring an unbelievably successful season, I don't see any scenario where his hiring could've been anything other than a one-and-done.

Now the Red Sox are at rock bottom, have money to spend, and nowhere to go but up. It'll be interesting to follow what they do this winter without Theo Epstein around.

Man... you lose the Wild Card game, and your season is over. Win, and you're in. Baseball is usually decided in series. Considering how unpredictable baseball can be, playing just this one game means you'd better play like it's Game 7 of the World Series if you expect to continue your season.

This said... St. Louis at Atlanta on the NL side, and then Baltimore at Texas on the AL side. Any early predictions before Friday night's action?

I thought he was a Righty too?

I is confused.

The hitting Triple Crown is paramount. Always has been, ways will be. Stating there have been 11 other Triple Crown winners since the most recent Triple Crown before Cabrera is ridiculous. The suggestion that a lefthander outfielder Baserunning Triple Crown while in a certain time zone even exists, suggests the 11 are not worth your time.

Even Villian can comprehend that despite his problems in many other sports related posts. :)

That said, the one and done Wildcard game is brilliant. Why? It finally gives an advantage to the teams that actually had better seasons than the Wildcard squads. Finally, the Wildcard team cannot open the division series with their #1 pitcher, they likely used him in the one game Wildcard played the night before.

While I like the new wildcard system, the bolded spot is absolutely false.

What other triple crowns are you guys talking about? I'm confused.......

I never even considered that. It makes sense. 👍
