It was 5-2 at [New] Yankee Stadium as the Astros picked up the win. The one time I checked into the game, the Yanks led 2-1 in the Top of the 7th or so. We managed to tie and then eventually pick up three runs to go ahead for good. So win No. 54 for the 2014 Houston Astros. Good Hump Day for the Astros. The series finale is tomorrow afternoon and will be one of the games televised on MLB Network.

Elsewhere...

* The Yankees lost, so how did the other New York City team do? Blitz24's New York Mets took down the Oakland Athletics 8-5 in Oakland. The game was televised on MLB Network.

* The score was 2-2 heading into the Bottom of the 9th in Washington, D.C. Arizona could have played for extra innings... until Bryce Harper happened. Yes... another unfortunate fail for R1600Turbo's Diamondbacks. The game ended 3-2 in favor of the Nationals.

* The Orioles padded their lead in the AL East with a 4-3 win at the Chicago White Sox.

* KM964 Texas Rangers went into Miami earlier today and handled Omnis' Miami Marlins 3-2. So both Texas Major League Baseball teams won today.

* The Detroit Tigers won with authority- 6-0 at Tampa Bay. Neither of Florida's two Major League Baseball teams won today.

* At Pittsburgh's PNC Park, the Pirates beat the Atlanta Braves 3-2.

* Patrick's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim had themselves a date with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. This play date ended up in LAA rejecting the defending champs hard- an 8-3 victory for the Halos.

Congratulations to all other winners from Wednesday.

The Astros were thinking sweep today. Didn't happen. We failed today by losing 3-0 in this HOU at NYY finale. Up next for the Astros is the conclusion of this 10-game road trip as we're in Cleveland for a three-game weekend series against the Cleveland Indians.

Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday.

There's the first resumption of a successfully protested game since 1986 when the Cubs will have to host the Giants for 1.45 games today following the Cubs Grounds Crew doing an amazing atrocious job in covering the field during the rain shortened game on Tuesday.

Nothing like losing 9 of the last 10 games and 7 in a row.

This team is seriously in need of some major help, starting with a new GM and then a new Manager.

San Francisco protested to have the game resumed and after another rain delay (weird!) they lose anyways 2-1. All that changed was a pitcher got a save instead of just a win and a loss. There, now wasn't that productive?

I would like to wish G. Richards well in his recovery after the brutal injury he suffered earlier this week. I still think LAA will be fine without him, but you may never know.

Good luck to all of your teams in this weekend's series.

Manny Machado will reportedly have knee surgery next week. So Mr. Machado will be done for the season. The Baltimore Orioles are WAY ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East. However, his loss may be a huge one for the O's. Got to see how Baltimore will do without Manny Machado moving forward in this season.

[UPDATE] Maybe the best series this weekend will be the Angels at the Athletics. LAA has their own injury concerns, and we may as well call this series the AL West Championship series, because I don't see Seattle, my Astros, or the Rangers getting anywhere close to winning the AL West this season.

The Astros went into Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio tonight; and we won 5-1 at the Cleveland Indians. The key to our victory was the Astros hanging four runs on the Top of the 9th to be up 5-1. The Tribe had no chance to dig themselves out of this hole. And so, the Houston Astros Baseball Club celebrates another win on this long-lost season. Tony Sipp was the winner for the Astros while Cody Allen was the loser for Cleveland.

The Astros won tonight. Congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

The Houston Astros went up 2-0 tonight in Cleveland, but they ultimately lost tonight thanks to three unanswered runs by the Cleveland Indians. So we failed 3-2 tonight. The Rubber Game of this three-game series is tomorrow afternoon.

Congratulations to all of Saturday's winners.

Well, the Tigers won 8-6 last night after I didn't even turn on the TV. Who knows, there might be a something there since they lose games I watch.

A Blue Jays fan was caught on camera Friday evening causing fan interference by catching a foul ball along the first baseline — and if you are a fan of TheBlaze, you’ll likely recognize him.

Video footage posted to the MLB’s official website, and played throughout the night on ESPN, shows Stu Burguiere — executive producer of The Glenn Beck Program — reach over into foul territory and catch a foul ball off center fielder Colby Rasmus’ bat.

Company CEO Christopher Balfe was also seen in the shot at the Toronto game smiling.

Burguiere’s catch came as Tampa Bay Rays player James Loney slid in an attempt to make the play. However, despite Loney being robbed of the ball by TheBlaze’s very own radio and TV personality, the umpire ultimately ruled Burguiere’s catch as fan interference and called Rasmus out.

“It’s a nice baseball, and he’ll get to have it, but he’s probably going to lose that seat though,” one of the television announcers commented.

“If they haven’t removed him yet, (Blue Jays manager) John Gibbons will make a phone call,” the other announcer said.
It was not clear if Burguiere did ultimately lose his seat, but the Blue Jays did end up losing the game to the Rays 8-0 Saturday.

This was up at The Blaze yesterday, but I didn't get a chance to read it until today due to me being out of town. I'll catch the reaction on the radio Monday morning.

The HOU at CLE series was taken today by... Cleveland. My Astros will return to Houston having lost 3-1 at the Cleveland Indians today. They could have made it interesting since the bases were loaded, but Cleveland got out of that late jam. So it's back-to-back fails for the Astros.

Up next... we're hosting Oakland in our next series starting tomorrow night. It will be a three-game set followed by a four-game weekend series hosting the Texas Rangers.

Congratulations to all other winners from today's games as well as the winner of tonight's Sunday Night game between LAA at OAK.

That's the second time this year against the Mets that Puig has somehow managed to get thrown out easily for no real reason other than either he doesn't know the rules of baseball or he doesn't think at all.

Shin-Soo Choo will have season-ending elbow surgery to remove bone spurs. Yu Darvish is also becoming less likely to return again with elbow inflammation.

That's the icing and cherry on top of the injury cake.

Should Texas just forfeit remaining games and go golfing now?

The Rangers have just had a season of bad luck with even more bad luck piled on bad luck. It seems like pretty much every major player on the team has had an injury this year.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim... don't expect my Astros to do you too many favors (except play dead) as we're hosting the Oakland Athletics. We certainly didn't help as we fell 8-2 hosting Oakland on Monday night. The game was at 3-2 at a point until (to use drag racing terms) Oakland winning on a holeshot late in the game. So another fail for the Astros. Houston and Oakland will battle again Tuesday night. With rainy weather expected here in the Houston area for most of this week and into this weekend, the last thing the Astros can hope for is to be drenched in failure as we try to play spoiler to Oakland followed by hosting Texas this weekend.

Good job to all other Monday winners.

The Tigers won 5-2 today against the Yankees. However, KC won as well, so the Tigers did not make up any ground in the AL Central.

It's win No. 56 for the Houston Astros Baseball Club with a 4-2 victory tonight over the Oakland Athletics. The only time I followed the score, it was 2-1, Oakland in the Middle of the 4th. Astros somehow managed to take down the A's. So this means another Rubber Game for this series. I can only hope my boys can win a Rubber Game for a change...

If your team(s) didn't fail today/tonight, congratulations!

Mets held on for the 3-2 victory over Atlanta. The Braves fall to 1.5 games back in the WC race, after San Francisco knocks off Colorado 3-0. Madison Bumgarner throws a 1-hitter, the only hit (and baserunner) being a Justin Morneau double in the top of the 8th inning. MadBum K'ed 13 in the effort to get his 15th win of the season.

You think you figured out the Oakland Athletics... then they break your heart. That s:censored: happened again to my Astros. We were leading 3-2 until the Oakland Athletics put up a few runs in the Top of the 9th on a blown Save for Chad Qualls. A solo jack by Chris Carter put us within one. Eventually, we ended up failing 5-4 and losing this OAK at HOU series. There is no shame in losing to Oakland, even with a team that is so disliked and feeling like losing to the Astros is the worst team you can lose to. But still- Oakland's a great team for a reason. Just sucks the Astros drop another one. Detroit, who has claimed Chad Qualls... after this blown Save, you can have Qualls.

Texas Rangers come in to H-Town for four starting tomorrow night. Let's see if the Astros aren't content on sticking to 56 wins when the other Texas team comes to Houston.

Congratulations to Wednesday's other winners.

The Tigers just beat the Yankees 3-2 after Alex Avila won it with a walk-off double. The team really needed this win after David Price imploded yesterday.

The four-game swing between the Rangers at Astros begins with a 4-2 victory for the Houston Astros. Texas was leading 2-0 heading into the Middle of the 3rd Inning. The Astros then saw Jason Castro bang a Grand Slam on the boys from Arlington in the 5th Inning to pull away for good. That was Jason Castro's 2nd career Grand slam. So we won 4-2 for the Astros to get their 57th win of the season.

Congratulations to all other winners from Thursday. Way to like, not fail.

The Tigers beat the White Sox 7-1 today. Along with that, the AL Central leading KC Royals lost to the Cleveland Indians 6-1.

The Texas Rangers must have had dreams of avenging that Grand Slam we hit on them last night that they want to savagely brutalize my Astros. And they did just that- a 13-6 thrashing of my Astros tonight. This four-game series is 1-1 with authority. Scott Baker won for Texas, and Brett Oberholtzer was the loser.

The Athletics AND the Giants need to make a serious push this next week if they want to safely make the playoffs.

The Giants probably won't catch the Dodgers as things stand now, but I'm sure they can hold off the Pirates, StL, and the other NL wildcard contenders.
Jake Peavy needs to keep his mouth shut. He cursed at the umpire twice from the mound the other day, and then "for whatever reason" the umpire started making some REALLY questionable Ball/Strike calls.
The Giants are quickly running out of players. When they do the call-up, I'd expect there to only be a handful of infielders, since Sussac, Panik, Duffy, and Ishikawa are already on the 25-man

The A's meanwhile are in less of a bad spot, with the AL West easily within grasp. The issue is their bats have been cold lately, since they've taken on the pitching all-stars (or Angels, whatever).
Bob Melvin has much more to gain with call-ups, since he uses the platoon quite frequently at several positions.
Id expect Drew Pomeranz and Jesse Chavez to get another start before the post-season.
Stephen Vogt and Sam Fuld have been huge hits for the A's, while Johnny Gomes has just kinda... Been there. Add to that the fact that Eric Sogard cannot hit to save his life, and throw in the injuries (Lowrie, Coco Crisp) and it's easy to see why they haven't turned up the pace yet.
