I'm starting to get this feeling that the Tigers are going to miss the playoffs with how bad they have been playing lately....

Thank goodness the NFL season has started so the Bengals can now get my hopes up before dashing them later in the year. The Reds have done their part. Yet another 1 run loss today.

Sunday's match was the Rubber Game between the Houston Astros at the Oakland Athletics. On Friday, it was a 4-3 win for the Astros. It was a 4-3 win for the Athletics on Saturday. And on Sunday? It was a 4-3 win for... the Houston Astros! Yes... all three games in this HOU at OAK series finished 4-3. Just that the two sides exchanged victory. Best news for my boys was that we came out on the winning end of these 4-3 decisions. That win gives us a 63-80 record, meaning...

*cue PlayStation Network Trophy sound*

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: 63 or more wins on the 2014 season

Also, this victory means we will NOT have a 100+ loss season. So that three season string of futility will come to an end. I've been following the whole Gallery Furniture promotion deal here in Houston. You know, that 63-win challenge. Here was a tweet sent out some time after the Astros won today:

"At GF, the customer is ALWAYS the winner! Congrats @Astros for #Win63, Congrats to our great customers, over $4,000,000 will be refunded!!" -MattressMack

Happy day for a Houston sports fan like myself. Texans won today, and the Astros got themselves another win. Up next for the Houston Astros Baseball Club is a three-game set at Seattle starting on Monday night. The Mariners will surely be ready to help their Wild Card cause.

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday.

The Tigers won 9-5 today in a pivotal series with the KC Royals. The win puts the Tigers in a tie with the Mariners for the second wild card spot in the AL.

With two more wins, the Astros will exceed my prediction. And still with two weeks to go... I'm slightly impressed.

Last night was a loss for the Astros- 4-1 was how Seattle took down my Astros. The game was 1–1 for most of the game. I guess the Mariners decided to play hero ball in the Bottom of the 9th to take down the Astros last night. All games in this series are night games, so I'll chime in on Wednesday (Central Daylight Time) to discuss how the Astros did. Oh... and one more loss for the Astros means we clinch a losing record for the sixth successive season. That's pretty much inevitable unless the Astros somehow win every last remaining game including tonight's match.

Besides this woeful season, there are those wondering if the 2014 Astros will possibly hit 70 wins. Still a good amount of season left. May never know...

Just wrapped up...

...we took down the Seattle Mariners 2-1 and really screwed up the AL Wild Card race in the process! The Houston Astros led 1-0 until the Bottom of the 8th. The Astros get win No. 64 and set up a Rubber Game for later tonight (since it's Wednesday now as of this post).

Congratulations to all other Tuesday winners.

4 losses in a row for AZ, 3-7 in the last 10, in danger of falling into last place again in the NL West. Pathetic. Going to the game on Saturday, only to get the the Paul Goldschmidt bobblehead....

A's seem to have figured out how to hit again. Let's see if they can turn things around.

The Houston Astros heading to Anaheim to start a three-game weekend set against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. But before getting there, we took care of the Seattle Mariners with a 5-2 victory back on Wednesday. So ildd's prediction of 65 wins for the 2014 Astros has been met with this victory and this series win.

That's all from me. Congratulations to all other Wednesday winners. Better luck next game to all whom failed on Wednesday.

Stanton done for the year following that. Hopefully he still earns enough MVP votes.

Before I post, what the heck got into various teams yesterday? All these hit-by-pitches and such? I ESPECIALLY want to send my best wishes to Giancarlo Stanton after his brutal hit-by-pitch.

I meant to do this WAY earlier this month, but I didn't get to do so. The standings heading into the upcoming games is as follows:

--- AMERICAN LEAGUE ---
AL EAST: Baltimore (86-59), TOR (76-69), NYY (75-69), TB (70-77), BOS (64-83)
AL CENTRAL: Kansas City (80-66), DET (80-66), CLE (76-69), CHW (66-80), MIN (62-84)
AL WEST: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (91-55), OAK (81-65), SEA (79-66), HOU (65-81), TEX (54-92)

AL WILD CARD (Top 5): Oakland (81-65), Detroit (80-66), SEA (79-66), TOR and CLE (76-69 each)

--- NATIONAL LEAGUE ---
NL EAST: Washington (83-62), ATL (75-71), MIA (71-74), NYM (71-76), PHI (67-79)
NL CENTRAL: St. Louis (80-67), PIT (77-69), MIL (76-71), CIN (70-77), CHC (64-82)
NL WEST: Los Angeles Dodgers (83-63), SF (81-65), SD (67-78), ARI and COL (59-87 each)

NL WILD CARD (top 5): San Francisco (81-65), Pittsburgh (77-69), MIL (76-71), ATL (75-71), MIA (71-74)

There's still time to make up ground, but there is very little left. So stay in the fight if your team(s) is/are still in it!

Good luck to all of your team(s) this weekend and every series heading into the final series of the regular season.

[PDATE] Damn it! I apologize for not putting in Tampa Bay and Boston in here. Truly sorry. I made the edits. Remember, folks- I am human. Also, I woke up earlier this morning typing the initial post.

Changes made to earlier post. Big apology for forgetting to include Tampa Bay and Boston in the ranks. It was just human error.

Here are a few notes I wanted to make from Houston's last game... José Altuve surpassed the 200-hit mark in a season. I think only he and Craig Biggio were the only two to hammer out 200 hits in a season. Little guy got big talent. Also in that finale of the HOU at SEA series, Nick Tropeano made his Major League debut and picked up the win in the Astros' 5-2 victory at the Seattle Mariners. Tony Sipp offered the Save while Hisashi Iwakuma lost for SEA.

That's all. Goodbye. Peace.

7 losses in a row. Let's just see if we can lose EVERY game through the rest of the season. Maybe we'll set a record or something... :yuck:

My Astros got beat gangsta' style last night at Anaheim- 11-3 victory for the 90+ win Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The only time I followed the score, we led 2-0. What the hell happened since?

Game two of three is tonight. Maybe the Astros can do MUCH better than that evisceration from last night...

I'll be going to the Tigers game tonight. I'll try to put some pictures up if my camera decides to work (my cell phone takes terrible pics so if my camera doesn't work, I won't get anything).

Tigers won 5-4 today after Alex Avila came through with a clutch 2 run shot in the bottom of the 8th. KC won as well though so no change in the AL Central standings. As of my post ( and subject to change as the season continues) Oakland and KC hold the two Wild Card spots.
