God or the baseball gods probably hate the Astros because we dropped another one. This fail was a 4-2 victory for Minnesota. It was tied at 2-2 until the Twins plated two runs to lead for good and put the Astros back into that losing feeling. This is now the Astros' 70th loss of the season. We're now 49-70 as the same old song and dance plays itself out for my hometown's Major League Baseball team. Game 2 of MIN at HOU is tomorrow night.

Congratulations to all other Monday winners.

Just thought I'd pop in and say
"I believe in Stephen Vogt! I believe in Stephen Vogt!"

A's still doing just fine sans-Cespedes. I didn't think he'd stay in Oakland after his contract expired, but I didn't think they'd trade him either.

The Giants are trying as hard as they can to give up the NL Wildcard. Their offense this season has been quite pitiful- Morse carried them for the first several weeks, and now Pence is doing the same. Hopefully they'll clean up now that they have Pagan back.

The Angels were my pick in the pre-season for the AL West, and they're not very far back now. I think the Josh Hamilton injury hurt them a bit, especially since his production has dropped considerably.

Who wins the AL West is largely irrelevant. It's safe to say the A's and Angels will both get a playoff seed(they're so far ahead), and either team is more than likely to beat whoever else ends up with the Wildcard.

I feel bad for the Yankees though. Of their 5 main SP guys from Opening day, Kuroda is the only one still there, and he's not what he used to be.

Ok that's all I've got.

10-4 was the score tonight here in Houston at Minute Maid Park... with the Astros beating the Twins. This is now our golden (50th) win of the season. We're now 50-70. Rubber Game of this MIN at HOU is tomorrow. This win means we are only one win away from matching our win total from last season.

Elsewhere (set me straight if any misinformation)...

* ARI at CLE as well as NYY at BAL were won today by Mother Nature. Yes... both games postponed.

* Blitz24's New York Mets got roughed up by the visiting Washington Nationals by the same score Germany beat Brazil in the 2014 FIFA World Cup: 7-1. That had to hurt.

* Kansas City had to accept evisceration at the hands of the visiting Oakland Athletics with an 11-3 dethroning of the K.C. Royals.

* The Boston Red Sox took down the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati. Another depressing one-run loss for the Reds.

* It was 4-2 in Atlanta as the Los Angeles Dodgers took care of the Atlanta Braves in this west-meets-east National League showdown.

* It was also 4-2 as the Pittsburgh Pirates kicked some Detroit Tiger booty 4-2 at PNC Park. Personally, I think both Pittsburgh and Detroit both have beautiful ballparks where they play their games. Just an off-topic note I wanted to share.

* Two games ended in 3-0 victories: a win at home for the Miami Marlins against the St. Louis Cardinals, and a win at home for the Chicago Cubs over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Congratulations to all other winners from Tuesday's games.

The Astros will head out on a 10-game road trip through three cities. They have sad faces today after having lost 3-1 today to the Minnesota Twins. 71th loss for the Astros.

I don't like the Astros chances of racking up wins with this upcoming road trip. Our 10-game, three-city trip begins with a four-game set at the Boston Red Sox starting tomorrow. The Astros then get a day off after the Boston series before going back to work. The rest of this road trip? Simple- at the New York Yankees for three, and then at the Cleveland Indians for three. So that's our upcoming road trip: BOS (4 games), NYY (3 games), and CLE (3 games).

Congratulations to all winners up to and beyond the time of this post. Better luck next time to all who failed today/tonight.

Feasting frenzy at Fenway Park, and we got devoured 9-4 to the Boston Red Sox. This four-game set and this 10-game road trip is not starting well for the Astros. All the Astros need is one win to tie their win total from all of last season. They didn't get the win tonight.

That's the sad state of affairs of the already sad Houston Astros. Congratulations to the other Thursday winners.

For the first time in franchise history, the Houston Astros beat the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. We did so with a 5-3 victory in 10 innings. A two-run double by the Astros helped push them ahead for good in the 10th Inning. This series is tied 1-1 now with our win. And speaking of wins, we now tied the win total from all of last season with this victory- 51 wins for the 2014 Astros at present. Hell, I'll be happy if the Astros can avoid racking up their fourth successive 100+ loss season.

Congratulations to all others who didn't fail tonight, like the Arizona Diamondbacks winning 3-2 at Miami.

The Boston Red Sox won tonight 10-7 over my Houston Astros at Fenway Park in Boston. Boston has a chance to either win this series or settle for a split. One more go of this four-game set starting tomorrow afternoon.

I extend my congratulations to those who won today or tonight.

I'm amazed that the Tigers won tonight since they have lost every game that I have watched on tv lately. The 4-2 win over Seattle gave David Price his first win as a Tiger, but more importantly, has given Detroit the second AL Wild Card spot over Seattle at the moment.

I just wanted to chime with a little research. While five errors by one team is bad enough, be thankful the Diamondbacks didn't commit the record number of errors. MLB history suggests that both the 1901 Detroit Tigers and the 1903 Chicago White Sox each made the most number of errors in a game- 12. So R1600Turbo, things could have been historically worse. I even read the Detroit Tigers once had a six-error game when they hosted the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on June 25, 2013. Detroit lost that game 14-8. That game was the first time in 31 years at that time that the Tigers had so many errors. They had six errors taking on the Boston Red Sox on September 11, 1982 as they lost 13-3 in that one. Pittsburgh had a seven error game in 2012 when they took on the Chicago Cubs. Most games today usually have no more than two errors.

So while five errors by your Snakes is bad, I'd have to say to lose by just one run is actually not all that bad. It's a good job of damage control despite the fail in my view.

Well we're getting our assets kicked with no errors so far today. Losing 3 of 4 to Miami. How many games left this season? Wondering if we'll pass 100 losses.

Tigers are down 7-0 in the top of the 8th so I'm not watching the rest of this game. For that matter, I might as well not watch ANY more games this year since they've essentially lost every game that I've watched lately.

We got ourselves a series split with authority. It was an 8-1 win at Fenway Park for my Houston Astros. This win gives us one more win than what we got all of last season. The Houston Astros Baseball Club will head into their day off with their 52nd win of the season. Up next for the Astros: three games at the New York Yankees starting Tuesday, and then a three-game set at the Cleveland Indians next weekend.

Congratulations to all other winners from Sunday, and better luck next time to all who failed today/tonight.

So the Reds' offense finally puts up some runs, up 9-5 going into bottom of the 9th against the Rockies, who I believe have the worst record in the majors. Despite it not being a save situation after we had scored 2 in the top of the inning to make it a 4 run game, Chapman came in to close. After huffing and puffing (literally), he walked 4 straight batters and was yanked. I turned off the game, checked out the score later to see that Stubbs, an ex-Red who loved to strike out while with us, had hit a walkoff 3 run shot. Yep, on a day we nearly put up double digit runs, we still manage to blow it.

This is a lost season. I just hope Chappy is okay. You could tell by watching that he was having trouble breathing out there. Hopefully it was just the thin air of Denver and not something more serious. Either way, it cost us game 1 today. We still have another game to lose tonight, being a doubleheader. Yay.

Bases loaded with nobody out and we fail to score. Just shows how bull:censored: this season has been. The sooner they fire Kevin Towers and hire a new manager, the better. :yuck:

Edit: rack up another loss.

DOWN go the Yanks! We won 7-4 tonight at the New York Yankees. The Bronx Bombers fell thanks to a Top of the 9th 3-run jack by Chris Carter. The Astros picked up another win on the season and another win against the Yankees. Heck, we started the 2014 season with the Yanks but back here in Houston. Anyhow... we won. Hopefully, your team(s) did too- assuming your team isn't the Yankees.

Congratulations to the other Tuesday winners.

[UPDATE] I'm sure Dolph Drago has got to be pissed to see his Reds hit a Cardinals' player with the bases loaded and no outs in a 4-4 game... to lose 5-4 to the St. Louis Cardinals. VERY FIRST PITCH with the bases loaded and nobody out, the Reds plunk a batter. You bring in a run and end up losing in weird walk-off fashion. That's a tough way to lose a game. I saw it on MLB Network and IMMEDIATELY had to update this post to discuss this moment. But again- SAD loss for the Cincinnati Reds. You'd rather lose on a walk-off hit rather than hit-by-pitch a batter.

And @Dolph Drago thankfully turned off the TV before JJ Hoover gave up the walk-off hit by pitch as the Reds lose 5-4.

Fixed. (It is RARE I post something like this. And rare I correct somebody!)

I updated my previous post to reflect that change, by the way.

Yeah...I had the game turned off by the 5th inning. I knew it was only going to be downhill from there. I just had a chance to check out how the game finished about 10 minutes ago and just started laughing. I ain't even mad anymore. This season has been a joke. If it isn't the offense, it's the bullpen. Hoover is atrocious this season. Parra is terrible. Jumbo is starting to get lit up. Ondrusek is back from injury and will probably stink it up again soon. The only good thing that's happened the past week is we got Phillips back.

We're looking towards next season now. And probably without 1 or 2 of our current starting pitchers. And nobody in our farm system.

BTW, I think we've had four 1 run losses in the past week alone. At least that's one thing we've been damn good about all season long.

Heading into today's games, the Texas Rangers currently have the worst record in baseball at 48-77. Worst record in the National League is the Colorado Rockies with a 49-76 record. Both of these teams are the only two not in the 50-win range.

My Houston Astros are currently 53-73 as we'll take on the New York Yankees for the second game of a three-game set in the Bronx. We are ten wins away from the promotional challenge set by Gallery Furniture here in Houston. I've focused on this little challenge since it's obvious we're basically eliminated from any playoff contention or Wild Card consideration. That promotional challenge was that if the Astros won 63 (which is the age "Mattress Mac" turns this year) or more games this season, people who bought $6.3K or more in furniture from the company will get their furniture for free. The Astros have already won two more games than what they've won all of last season. There's still one more month of regular season baseball left. We stink, but I'm still proud of my Astros.

Enjoy your Wednesday baseball, folks. And good luck to all of your team(s)... whether they are postseason contenders or not.

Mets rocked Sammy today. Duda has 23 HRs on the year. I think they've found their 1B of the future. All they need is:
1. A LF
2. A SS
3. One or two bullpen arms

They will be contending in 2015 if they do at least two of the above.
